POPSNEA recomends Alinsky as teaching aid I love how it isn't 'personal terrorism' if you just deem someone to be a symbol and not a person. Maybe that is why the left is so sympathetic to the Fort Hood shooter. They don't consider those dead as people, but only as symbols of something they can't stand.

POPSA Silver Lining to Storms of Sorrow About 15 years ago, I hitched a ride to a national security briefing in Thomasville, Georgia, with a fellow I had only recently met. He had just retired as an Army officer after Desert Storm, and we were serving in a reserve capacity with a civilian agency. It was a five-hour drive, which gave us time to become well acquainted, and I am grateful for every minute of that trip. His name is Don Rodgers, and he is one of those people who has never met a stranger. Good story - click on link to read

POPSDobbs to Resign from CNN; Roger Ailes Meeting "Buzz"
There has also been talk Dobbs could be headed for Fox News, another storyline Stelter revealed last month. Transcript from Nov. 11 broadcast below: Tonight I want to turn to a personal note, if I may, and address a matter that has raised some curiosity. This will be my last broadcast here on CNN, where I've worked for most of the past 30 years, and where I have many friends and colleagues whom I admire deeply and respect greatly. I'm the last of the original anchors here on CNN and I'm proud to have had the privilege to helping to build the world's first news network. I'm grateful for the many opportunities that CNN has given me over the many years. I've tried to reciprocate with a full measure of my ability. Over the past six months it's become increasingly clear that strong winds of change have begun buffeting this country and affecting all of us. And some leaders in media, and in politics and business have been urging me to go beyond the role at CNN . . .

POPSFrom both sides of his mouth!!!!! This latest move by the administration follows a pattern replicated countless times by Obama since assuming the presidency in January: denounce the lawless behavior of his Oval Office predecessor while continuing, even expanding, the reach of unaccountable security agencies that subvert constitutional guarantees barring "unreasonable searches and seizures."

POPSI've been betrayed by this Government, says Iraq War hero who won George Cross He said that when he received his George Cross, ‘the Queen told me she had not presented a GC for “such a long time” and that it was “a privilege” to give it to me’. Now 25, he tells the MAIL ON SUNDAY with typical bravery how his pride was soon eclipsed by anger at the Government's mistreatment of the Armed Forces and why he took the drastic step of quitting army life earlier this year... POPSObama's Gay Outreach: All Talk, No Action Well, just as I predicted, last night when he the addressed the annual dinner of the Human Rights Campaign, the all but de facto gay auxiliary of the Democratic National Committee, the President got his “standing ovation“.* The “cheering crowd” gave the Democrat a warm welcome even as he acknowledged “some policy changes he promised on the campaign trail are not coming as quickly as they expected.“ Promises, promises, but not a plan. That’s not enough for many gay activists, but it will win over the Washington-based leadership of HRC and other gay groups, ever eager to sing the praises of a politician with a (D) after his name who says the right things to their audiences. Of course, to those activists, with highfalutin language and that (D), it really doesn’t matter what he does. Once again, it was typical Obama, lofty words with little to show for them. Sickening. Wake up gay lefties....wake up.

POPSAfghanistan - NOT a 'good war' "And of course, it is costing the people of Afghanistan more than anyone. Perhaps one of the most jolting things about watching the film is seeing image after terrible image of civilian suffering: desperate families mired in refugee camps, pain-stricken schoolgirls attacked with acid by the resurgent Taliban, countless injured men, women and children who are the "collateral damage" from errant U.S. bomb strikes. It is a punch-to-the-gut reminder of just how sanitized this war -- which Obama has always called the "right front" of the so-called war on terror -- has been".

POPSAgain, with the persecution? Once again we're presented a picture of people believing that their overwhelming majority faith is somehow being persecuted. In fact, what the whining is all about is the erosion of Christian privilege above all other faiths or non-belief. These sheep simply don't grasp the concept of a secular government actually being a benefit to their belief system. Instead they view it as an attack against their religion. Naturally, these attitudes are being advanced by a media subset that is reaping an enormous financial gain by manipulating these rubes with false claims of losing their freedoms and being persecuted by a non-existent, frightening subculture bent on destroying their faith. There's a fool born every minute.

POPSRubbish Problem Worsens in Cairo More at clip source. Today, we've not had any water in the neighborhood where I live. This has never happened in the two years I've lived here. The authorities are fixing the water main: I doubt we'll have water by tomorrow morning. Bottled water is unhealthy, but I am happy to have it today. About the rubbish pile up: In the affluent and powerful areas like where I live rubbish is not piling up in the streets. And I doubt this is a problem in New Cairo or 6th October. My friends in Giza do not enjoy the same privilege. If the government really cared about public hygiene they would have cleaned up this city long ago. Egyptians deserve better.

POPSA clarification of "The Terrible Bargain" More: Iain's taken a long look at the Terrible Bargain from its other side, and doesn't want the easy comfort of unexamined privilege at the cost of my trust. And so he does his best to quell that reflexive defensiveness and listen. And in those moments of listening, we forge a new bargain, lovingly struck: He looks inside himself for the hardened bits of internalized misogyny that yet linger, unexamined; I hand him in exchange the crumbling bricks of a protective wall built long before we met. The rubble collects at our feet, and we kick it away.

POPSOn ableist language More: If you think you should use a word because no other has the same impact, well, you’re right about the impact. Your usage has such an impact because it draws its power from disability=bad. You are forming a powerful sentence from disablism, our deep-set pain. It’s so much easier and better to just change your words. If you still insist on such usage, that’s lazy and cruel. If you’re not sure if your use of a word is offensive, err on the side of caution. Another message to take away is this. 1. If you are calling yourself progressive 2. and you are harming people with disabilities 3. you are not, in fact, progressive.

POPSThe Fraud Of GOP Tax And School Choice Policy Shown In Arizona In the mid to late 1990s, a group of dogmatic conservative Republican leaders, led by Arizona Congressman Trent Franks and a leading GOP school reform and voucher advocate, Lisa Graham Keegan, saw an opportunity to implement some of the pet school reform projects of national conservative Republican think tanks in the Arizona school system as test cases. The results were as predictable as they are bleak:

POPS“Political Correctness” is a reactionary term against the loss of privilege. The term politically correct is a reactionary term ... created by people who were worried by changes…that affected their everyday understanding of the world in ways that pointed out their role in creating or reproducing dominance and subordination. the indignation people feel against PC ideas reflects the discomfort we feel when language and politics begin to pull away from the dominant values we grew up with—in other words, white, middle-class values. in its original context, PC was a pejorative term used by people who felt they were losing something. many sociologists and historians today have come to a consensus on what they call it: it’s a loss of privilege—and in terms of race, a loss of white privilege.
