POPSWhy McCain Picked Palin: Not Too Conservative She was neither a Romney nor a Lieberman, and shored up his broken maverick image. "Conservative...but not an ideologue", per McCain's inner circle. Ms. Palin, and not Mr. Pawlenty or Mr. Romney, would reinforce Mr. McCain’s self-image, an adviser said. She had a reputation as a reformer in Alaska, she hunted and fished, and she had once belonged to a union. Just as crucial, Ms. Palin, 44, was beloved by the party’s religious base but did not come off as shrill. “She’s conservative,” Mr. Black said, “but she’s not an ideologue.”

POPSObama's Misleading, Confusing Abortion Rights Ads Obama’s new radio ad tells voters McCain “will make abortion illegal” is airing widely in at least seven swing states. Kate Michelman, an informal Obama adviser who is the former president of the abortion-rights group NARAL Pro-Choice America, said she expected the campaign to expand its appeal to women on issues of abortion rights. “This is a door opened to a longer campaign and strategic effort to ensure that women know the truth about John McCain and Gov. Palin,” she said, suggesting it would come “on the radio, in the mail, on the phones, and in the organizing on the ground.” Though the campaign says the ad was released before Palin was chosen, Michelman said her selection, and her strong anti-abortion stance, would drive the issue closer to the center of the race. “By his nomination of Gov. Palin, McCain has made his opposition to a woman’s right to decide a major campaign issue,” she said.

POPSPalin's History Knowledgte For a subject that I'm sure she has a strong opinion about it's remarkable that she comes to that opinion without understanding the facts first. Yeah, she sure is ready to lead the country!

POPSWeisburg's Racist Comments on Election
Author's propaganda tries to turn tables on realities. Despicable barely describes this hateful diatribe. Not in criticizing Reps.,McCain,etc. That's part of the game. I refer to his conclusions. Hopefully we can see through this kind of distortion no matter where we stand politically. If he felt confident in Obama's record he wouldn't need to even go where he does here. It seems that the concept, the equation, coming clear in this time, as we hopefully progress past true racism and the hurt it does to good people, is that, as blatant, actual racism lessens and becomes ever less an immediately impacting harm , less of a component of thought and feeling in our society, there seems to be, hopefully only temporarily, a corresponding yet negatively driven counter-trend of some sort. which insists that, there be a reverse racism taken for granted in order to prove the non-existence of the old, shameful racism.. Speaking for myself, I had, earlier this year, felt most favorable about

POPSWaPo's Colbert King Implies PUMAs Are Racist A Suicidal Choice for Clinton Supporters: Colbert I. King: Op-Ed Columnist Her reversal in fortunes was stunning. She lost her front-runner status in the Iowa snows, and she didn't see it coming. And yet, through pure grit and with a single-minded focus on winning, Hillary Clinton nearly pulled it off. So there is a rawness to her defeat, a feeling that Obama snatched what didn't belong to him, a belief that she was horribly mistreated in the process. The anger of some Clinton supporters over her defeat and what they perceive as her snubbing for a spot on the Democratic ticket may be clouding their judgment. So what's drawing Hillary Clinton's die-hard fans to John McCain? Is the attraction only skin-deep? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/29/AR2008082902891.html?sub=AR

POPSAnd the exploitation continues The only reason McCain chose her is to get female voters, which he personally couldn't care less about. Obama campaign calls her a candidate with "the thinnest foreign policy experience in history" As if Obama's foreign policy experience is any more extensive. We are so screwed.

POPSMcCain's Gamble On a Woman Create Headache For Obama As governor of Alaska she is about as far removed from Washington as it is possible to be. The McCain campaign intends to contrast that with the inside-Washington double-ticket of Obama and Biden. Perhaps most impressively, in just a year and a half in office in Alaska she has established a reputation as a tough reformer. She is also a staunch advocate of expanding domestic drilling for oil, popular among oil-rich Alaska and among Americans as a whole. At her first appearance on the stump yesterday alongside her running-mate, she seemed assured and steady. But her selection adds a startling new uncertainty into the presidential race, a risky gamble for the Republicans but a complicating headache for the Democrats. THROUGHOUT their long primary campaign this year, Democrats made much of the fact that their progressive party was presenting a historic choice to the nation; the first black man or woman in the Oval Office.

POPSMcCain Gambles with Surprise VP Pick John McCain showed he's truly an independent minded leader. He made a surprise pick for VP -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. She will energize conservatives on one hand, and also appeal to independents and women on the other. McCain also shows he's not about to give up in this race for the White House.

POPSMcCain winning in new poll, follows trend See? If Obama keeps moving towards being like a moderate Repub, he's gonna blow a "no-Brainer" election...typical Democrat not being bold enough to stand up for what he really believes and it's showing...mark my words--if he doesn't change his tune (it may be too late now), he's gonna hand the country to an old, senile fucking war monger...What a country, what a circus!

POPSFear Of Change "First, the Democrats have to win the election — and win it by enough to face down Republicans, who are still, 42 years after Medicare went into operation, denouncing “socialized medicine.” Second, they have to overcome the public’s fear of change. " "One more thing: if we do get real health care reform, a lot of people will owe a debt of gratitude to none other than John Edwards. When Mr. Edwards dropped out of the presidential race, I credited him with making universal health care a “possible dream for the next administration.” Mr. Edwards’s political career is over — but perhaps he and his family can take some solace from the fact that his party is still trying to make that dream come true."

POPSBarack Obama Plays The Race Card The End of the "Post Racial" Candidacy When Barack Obama started his long quest for the White House, he presented himself as a post racial candidate, as a man who transcended race, unlike previous African American Presidential candidates such as Jesse Jackson. This made his candidacy compelling to many.

POPSOrganized Religion Preaches Love but Practices Unacceptance This article is a good example of the negatives of organized religion. While many of them preach love, kindness, and peace, in practice they do nothing but reinforce nonacceptance of anyone or anything that does not conform to the religion's teachings and standards. I understand the psychological role or organized religion in our society, but I continue to stand by the belief that organized religion has been the cause of the great majority of the major wars, conflicts, and hatred in our history. Starting with the crusades and going up through to the terrorism we see in the world today. Religions reinforce that anyone or anything outside of their teachings are "wrong" and that those who don't "believe" are not worthy and should be punished. I firmly believe we won't have world peace until organized religion becomes a thing of the past.
