POPSObama's "Equal Pay" For Women [Not So Much] The average pay for the 33 men on Obama's staff (who earned more than $23,000, the lowest annual salary paid for non-intern employees) was $59,207. The average pay for the 31 women on Obama's staff who earned more than $23,000 per year was $48,729.91. (The average pay for all 36 male employees on Obama's staff was $55,962; and the average pay for all 31 female employees was $48,729. The report indicated that Obama had only one paid intern during the period, who was a male.)

POPSOne Area I Actually Favor McCain I'm all about Obama in the upcoming election, but one area where I think he could take some pointers from McCain is on taxes and government spending. I'm in full agreement with McCain that the answer to our current deficit isn't necessarily raising taxes, but significantly reducing wasteful government spending. I think if Obama focused more on this than what new taxes he needs to raise, it'd be much more effective. We already have a lot of our money taken away, and the Federal government has shown time and time again that they're not good at managing our money, so take it away from them. That said however, Obama still gets my vote - not even close.

POPSoil wars! Will oil be the new bludgeon against the democrats? If so, the repubs are turned out to be a pretty cagey, if deplorable, lot.

POPSCongress Holds Troops Hostage, Budget Director Says AND when the President vetoes this bill, who will get blamed for not supporting the troops? Congress, again, shows their utter contempt for the American process, it's military, our tax dollars, the intelligence of it's citizens. Blackmail, pure and simple. If Congress does not want America troops in Iraq then take the stand, vote, and deal with the consequences. But they won't because they KNOW it is not in our national interests to do so; but they will play politics with every ounce of treachery they can muster against this Administration, our military personnel, and the responsible use of OUR money.

POPSThe American People are the Problem
There is no doubt that when a first term senator, without a credible achievement, who proved himself incompetent at the mere act of casting a vote as a State Senator, who is the most Leftist member of the Senate and all of Congress, who talks about sacrifice while giving 1% of his windfall salary to charity, who will not talk about his record, agenda, or be "distracted" by questions of his intended policies, who has befriended a terrorist and racist preacher, who has a wife that says there is a "veil of impossibility" in America ( She went to Yale, remember), who is an adherent of Black Lib (marxist) Theology, who never worked in Business or Industry, never managed a company, and never served his country. A man who whips his naive supporters up using tactics, imagery, and organic unity not seen since the early 1930's. The American People are in fact the problem when this is the man that one of the major parties in the US seems to believe is fit to be President of the U.S.

POPSCubans allowed to buy products they can't afford This is interesting. On the one hand, the new access to personal computers creates a new, de-facto freedom of the press (even without internet access to blog or post on forums, all you need is a printer to distribute anti-government literature). On the other hand, only the well-off can afford this stuff, and the well-off are less likely to agitate against the system, particularly if the system gives them cell phones and computers.

POPSThe War on Pot If it is true, I say legalized it. . IMO alcohol is just as bad or worst than Pot yet it's legal to buy alcohol.

POPSThe Presidential Field This is sad. This is all that this country can produce in the way of qualified candidates to run for President. The salary is what, only $200,000 a year. Maybe they should consider raising the salary to a million. Maybe we would get somebody that is qualified.

POPSYou Gotta Love the Bush Family Values Should anyone be surprised that Jeb Bush, the President's brother and the former President's son (oh gosh, I should leave him out of this mix) decided to go to work for a firm that is deeply involved in ethics abuse? Frankly, but quite unfortunately, I am not. While it must be difficult to turn away $37,000 per day as a salary, one must wonder what Jeb Bush must do to earn that kind of money. I hope it is to clean up the company Tenet Healthcare but somehow I doubt it. I am constantly reminded by the antics of the Bush family that one should never tie one's shoes in a watermelon patch. It gives the impression that one is about to steal watermelons, even if the intent is to simply tie one's shoes. Appearances is everything in this world. We live and die by appearances. So Jeb, stop bending over to tie your shoes--You are in the middle of the watermelon patch.

POPSRep. Baron Hill: Bush's new Iraq policy is a mistake Encouraging news from U.S. Congressman Baron Hill, D-Ind. Damned refreshing to read his views and the plans for energy independence, healthcare and ethics reforms, and higher minimum wage ! He is honest enough to point out the hypocrisy surrounding the minimum wage issue: "It's been 10 years since we increased the minimum wage, but in that time Congress has increased its salary by $35,000."
