It Came from Wasilla
Spiritualmonkey
by Spiritualmonkey  Yesterday 2:01 PM    1
More than once in my travels in Alaska, people brought up, without prompting, the question of Palin’s extravagant self-regard. Several told me, independently of one another, that they had consulted the definition of “narcissistic personality disorder” in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders —“a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy”—and thought it fit her perfectly.

Eager to Tap Iraq's Vast Oil Reserves Industry Execs Suggested Invasion
brightlight4
by brightlight4  7-3-2009    2
In Ron Suskind's 2004 book, "The Price of Loyalty," O'Neill said an invasion of Iraq was on the agenda at the first National Security Council. There was even a map for a post-war occupation, marking out how Iraq's oil fields would be carved up. Even at that early date, the message from Bush was "find a way to do this," according to O'Neill, a critic of the Iraq invasion who was forced out of his job in December 2002. The New Yorker's Jane Mayer later made another discovery: a secret NSC document dated February 3, 2001 - only two weeks after Bush took office - instructing NSC officials to cooperate with Cheney's task force, which was "melding" two previously unrelated areas of policy: "the review of operational policies towards rogue states" and "actions regarding the capture of new and existing oil and gas fields." By March 2001, Cheney's task force had prepared a set of documents with a map of Iraqi oilfields, pipelines, refiner

Liars Unite in Support of Dictators Worldwide
Eaglewings
by Eaglewings  7-2-2009    2
Once again our fearless leader has chosen to align himself with a dictatorial tyrant. Apparently there is not a Constitution Obama likes. He has no regard for our own constitution and has shown a total disrespect for the Constitution of Honduras. The rule of law is not high on Obama's list of disciplines. He much rather support anarchists and lawlessness. Or perhaps he sees a similar fate awaiting himself in the not too distant future. Perhaps it is time we start to consider impeachment proceedings for high crimes and misdemeanors?

Al Franken Wins Election In Iran

Senator John McCain responded to the allegations of CIA interference by stating, "This result has nothing to do with the CIA and everything to do with a dysfunctional federal bureaucracy. How an American comedian contesting a Senate seat ends up President of Iran speaks volumes to the inefficiency of the Federal government. Perhaps it's time to burn all of out institutions down and start from scratch again. Call it 'shock and awe' or something." McCain finished by saying, "Of course all this could have been avoided if the legislative branch had allowed us six months ago to nuke Iran."

You've Just Crossed Over Into The Twilight Zone!
merrie
by merrie  6-29-2009    2
The United States Congress cemented the inevitability of collapse of the American coal industry with their passage of this supposed "energy bill." The prophesy is proven. Barack Obama does intend to bankrupt the American coal industry. They have given themselves over to the loyalty of Marxist idealism as opposed to the people who elected them and now, we will all must suffer the consequences of failing in our diligence to insure that they looked out for our better interests. America was already on life support, with a staggering economy and monthly job losses literally crushing the breath out of every gasp and attempt made by the economy to catch its breath. “We passed transformational legislation which takes us into the future,” Pelosi said at a press conference following the vote, after she and other leaders took congratulatory phone calls from Obama, former Vice President Al Gore and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0609/24232.html

THERE MUST BE SOMETHING INTRINSICALLY WRONG WITH IT. ONE ONLY NEEDS TO WATCH WITH INCREDULITY THE MEDIA COVERAGE OF THE DEATH OF A RATHER STRANGE ENTERTAINER, WHILST HUNDREDS ARE KILLED ALMOST DAILY BY THE ACTIONS OF THIS NATION AND ARE SCARCELY MENTIONED IN THE MEDIA. Idiocy Reigns, Be Honest About It

"maybe there's such a thing as learned stupidity. How else can so many people be so idiotic? Our national IQ has dropped to about 75: Several standard deviations below normal. " "Well, we have now voted in a President for the lowbrows. Yes, Obama himself is smart enough; even smart enough to say a few years ago that he didn't feel ready for the presidency. Well, now we can see why he said that. But legions of idiots voted for a man who was plainly unqualified, even by his own estimation, and surrounded by a bunch of malignant sociopaths like Wright and Ayers and all the rest. How could he possibly win? Well, Obama cynically appealed to the idiots -- the young, the stupid, the naive, the silly, the rock idol worshippers, and probably the drug-addled masses, all the lowbrows in the land. That includes the idiot savants of academia. Academics have a very narrow band of intelligence, something that satirists since Aristophanes have noticed and poked fun at. Obama's 22 White House c

Obama’s First Veto Threat Framed as Message on Spending
merrie
by merrie  6-26-2009
The SAP also says Obama would veto the measure if $603 million is allotted for development of an alternative engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program, money the administration views as wasted spending that would result in a delay in the program. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs on Friday reaffirmed the veto threat. “ Secretary Gates has outlined a very robust plan to change our defense procurement and investment in weapons systems and manpower to what makes the most sense for the future,” Gibbs said. “He and others have determined that” added spending on F-22s “is not part of the program.”

Blacks in survey say race relations are worse under Obama (cnn.com)
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  6-26-2009
From Blackinformant.com: The Democratic party played the race card to the hilt all throughout the election cycle. If you criticized Obama in any way, you were portrayed as either a “racist” who secretly did not want a Black man in the White House or you were simply an “Uncle Tom”. After Obama won the election, the media was quick to locate racist loons like David Duke (whose opinions never matter to the mainstream in the first place) and ask him for his two cents on Obama. Democrats repeatedly asked the question “Is Obama Black enough?” when Obama was running against Hillary Clinton. Any association with fried chicken with Obama became a few marchers short of launching yet another civil rights movement. Didn’t like the first lady’s fashion picks? You were a mean, bitter person who simply had a hard time dealing with Black women in powerful positions. Didn’t support the stimulus package? It was considered a “…a slap in the face of African-Americans.”

They would get just as much work done at half the cost. Now that’s what I call fiscal responsibility.

They have spent money we do not have, they have borrowed against our future, they have gambled and America has lost. We have but one hope left, and that is change (sound familiar), hope that we can change the makeup of Congress next year and the White House in 2012. Even if we achieve these two very important goals, it will take a tremendous amount of time and effort to undo the damage this moron and his lackeys in congress have already caused. Our ONLY hope of reversing some of this is in the 2010 elections next year. If we have any hope we must replace the members of Congress who simply rubber-stamp Obama’s schemes, cut the purse-strings and the money hemorrhaging will stop!

Defrauded opposition candidate Mir Hussein Mousavi belongs to the establishment. The regime is coming apart and turning on itself. Even clerics are turning against the “Supreme Guide” Ali Khamenei. Grand Ayatollah Sanei in Iran has declared Ahmadinejad's presidency illegitimate and cooperating with his government against Islam. There are strong rumors that his house and office are surrounded by the police and his website is filtered. He had previously issued a fatwa, against rigging of the elections in any form or shape, calling it a mortal sin. Kevin Sullivan at RealClearWorld: What's emerging here could be interesting. Iran hawks prefer to label the Iranian police state as simply "The Mullahs," but the legitimate clerics in this dispute are the ones standing with Mir-Hossein Mousavi against ONE Mullah and his secular police apparatus. . . .

"No matter. Last week it was business as usual, as Republican leaders nattered ad infinitum over the juvenile rivalry of Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich at the party’s big Washington fund-raiser. Few if any mentioned, let alone questioned, the ominous script delivered by the actor Jon Voight with the G.O.P. imprimatur at that same event. Voight’s devout wish was to “bring an end to this false prophet Obama.” This kind of rhetoric, with its pseudo-Scriptural call to action, is toxic. It is getting louder each day of the Obama presidency. No one, not even Fox News viewers, can say they weren’t warned."

Watch What Obama Does, Not What He Says
merrie
by merrie  6-9-2009    1
But capacity can be increased only gradually, and that's if more production is being encouraged rather than prevented. To think that wind and solar or other alternative fuels can fill the energy gap requires a belief in what Adriel Bettelheim of Congressional Quarterly has called the "Tinkerbell effect," as in Peter Pan. It consists of believing something will happen just because you wish it would. Wind and solar now provide less than 1 percent of America's energy needs. The likelihood, based on projections by experts, is that oil and gas must be relied on overwhelmingly to meet the country's energy needs for at least two more decades. But amazingly enough, the Obama administration is worried about domestic "overproduction" of oil and gas. So Obama has proposed removing all tax incentives to produce oil and gas, slapping a 13 percent excise tax on all energy derived from the Gulf of Mexico,

Crazy right-wing myths about Obama 2.0

Cont.... Myth: Obama plans to resettle hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the United States. Who's spreading it: One of the original sources of the belief might have been this Feb. 7 article. New Media Journal is a news site run by a nonprofit group called BasicsProject.org, which states that its mission is to "re-introduce the American public to the basic elements of our constitutional heritage while providing non-partisan, fact-based information on relevant socio-political issues important to our country, specifically, but not limited to, the threats of aggressive Islamofascism and the American Fifth Column." The diatribe below, posted on Snopes.com, seems to have started as a post on Wizbang that picked up the claims in the New Media Journal article. It also turned up here and here. What they believe: "President Barack Obama has signed an executive order ... allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to resettle in the United States. Sure, what can go wrong when w

. . . hostility to religion. Still, as usual, it's fascinating, especially this bit of history that Obama somehow failed to mention this morning when revisiting (or I should say, revisioning) Adams, Jefferson, and that oh-so-warm relationship between the Morocco and the fledgling United States: I believe on the evidence that it was at this moment that Jefferson decided to make war on the Muslim states of North Africa as soon as the opportunity presented itself. And, even if I am wrong, we can be sure that the dispatch of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps to the Barbary shore was the first and most important act of his presidency. It took several years of bombardment before the practice of kidnap and piracy and slavery was put down, but put down it was, Quranic justification or not.

The Presidency and The Constitution
ColoradoRight
by ColoradoRight  6-5-2009    2
But all that protects the Constitution is the oath we swear to it. After decades of manipulation and mischief, we are getting a preview of what a post-constitutional government would look like: the Supreme Court makes policy, the White House takes over industries, the Treasury Department and IMF appropriate taxpayers dollars, and elected representatives divest their powers to unelected judges and bureaucrats. The dangers of our experiment in extra-constitutional politics are nearing a critical mass.
