POPSSeptember ‘Surprise’ "The United States was aware of Iran’s unfinished uranium enrichment site for several years, senior U.S. officials told CNN on Friday. U.S. officials have known about the facility since President George W. Bush’s administration, according to the officials who declined to be identified because of the sensitive nature of the negotiations." Yes, the Bushies knew about it, too, and said nothing – but why not? After all, George W. was not exactly known as an apologist for the Iranian regime, and he was no less eager than his successor to tag Tehran as a serial deceiver. The CIA knew about it when they issued that now inconvenient National Intelligence Estimate averring that Iran had abandoned all efforts to militarize its nuclear research in 2003. Were they trying to protect the Iranians, too?

POPSCIA threatened to kill children; rape mother
Ah! There's nothing like the truth starting to show through the fading veneer. These were the techniques the Bush and Cheney authorized and then successfully hid from exposure, claiming we can't let the terrorist know our tactics. Note: the steps towards official Dept. of Justice (the Obama DOJ, not the DOJ of the Bush nightmare years)...an official prosecution took another big step. 8AM today it was announced this was recommended. 10AM today Obama appointed Attorney General, Eric Holder, has asked a federal prosecutor John Durham to investigate. So...the Bush Administration ignored clearly stated warnings and had the biggest domestic attack on US soil in our history (Um...not counting the British and our own Civil War). Then they turned to Nazi-like tactics of torture, secret prisons, kidnapping, holding people without trail...even, btw, murder of POW's (we haven't got much coverage of that - yet.). Then, starting a war based on deliberately fabricate lies. Just

POPSRed Cross Says: Guantanamo Prison Better
More good news and positive change from the USA Obama Administration. When I read a few years ago, during the growing nightmare of the Bush years, that the Red Cross was being hindered in access to Gitmo prisoners, I was disgusted. It was incredible --- impossible -- hard to believe that an American (U.S.) military and/or government would so deprive prisoners and snub international law....but that was an image of Americans fed by non-stop propaganda war movies...and certainly perhaps more true in World War 2, not now. Denying access to the Red Cross!? -- The military also hid some prisoners and some info when the Red Cross was around -- it was a disgrace, a loss of all honor (if there is any honor fighting a one-sided war started with deliberately fabricated lies) Good for Obama. It seems he's also on track to live up to the promise to have the prison closed by the start of next year. National health care plans now in the spotlight and he once again lead the fight for impro

POPSSurviving Vs. Winning: The Leader's Mindset Admiral Stockdale was the highest ranking U.S. officer at the “Hanoi Hilton” POW camp during Vietnam. A navy fighter pilot, he was shot down and endured brutal torture, all while doing everything possible to inspire and strengthen the spirit of his fellow prisoners.

POPSWorld's First PoW Camp? more: Ben Robinson, an archaeologist at Peterborough Museum, has been working with the Channel 4 Time Team programme to uncover the site’s history. He said: “This is a fascinating and unique site because the concept of a ‘prisoner of war camp’ did not exist before Norman Cross was built in 1797. It was an inspired experiment in taking huge numbers of enemy troops out of action, but also keeping them in as humane conditions as possible.” Although the prisoners were generally treated well, more than 1,000 inmates died from typhoid in 1800 and 1801 and a total of 1,770 died during the camp’s 17-year history. The buildings were dismantled and the site cleared after Napoleon’s defeat at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.

POPSAfghanistan Villages Threatened By US Military Over Kidnapped Soldier CBS also confirmed with Capt. Elizabeth Mathias that the leaflets were indeed printed at the Bagram Air Base and distributed throughout the two villages, however she claims that the statement reads "...then you will be hunted," as if being "hunted" is somehow better than being "targeted." POPSEU to press UN to recognize a Palestinian State!? This is some exciting news and new twist in the ongoing Israel-Palestine war and the often nothing more but "Pretenses for Peace." But the slow starvation of over a million and a half people in front of our eyes, in the Gaza Strip blockade by Israel for the last two years does seem to have stirred up determined and brave resistence, including the direct action blockade busting and involvement of EU, North American and South American politicians. Now this dramatic idea has been introduced by the EU Foreign Minister. Right now the only news coverage I've found starts with pro-Zionist negative opinion of this idea...(although the idea is the central story). Will this be for real? I guess time will tell but it does seem that some crimes are just too big to hide or tolerate: like murdering thousand of Taliban POW's -- secret USA death squard run by the former VP Cheney - starving a million and a half people in front of our eyes.

POPSA Hero’s More Than a Sandwich FTA: The point to all this is that you do not turn anyone into a hero simply by calling him one. All you really accomplish is to so totally cheapen the word as to make it meaningless when the real thing comes along.

POPSRolling Thunder Roars Through Nations' Capital Rolling Thunder, Inc., is a non-profit organization with more than 88 chapters in all 50 states, which work year round to ensure the nation never forgets that American prisoners of war and missing in action still remain unaccounted for in Southeast Asia. The organization raises funds to help veterans and serves as legislative advocates on veterans' issues. Members volunteer to visit local veterans hospitals and educate people about the POW/MIA issue. Crane said Rolling Thunder’s hard work over the years is evident, as they’ve impacted citizens from all across the country to join and take part in advocating their cause. Bikers, such as Danny Kang, from Richmond, Va., participated in Rolling Thunder for the past two years, but unlike many of the others, he’s not a veteran and doesn’t come from a military family, he said. An American pilot in the Korean War saved his grandfather, Kang said.

POPSAfter 69 years Justice finally served I have very strong feeling about this subject. I have numerous websites dedicated to the Holocaust and over 6 million Jews alone being exterminated. I'm not even jewish either, it just burns me up how the Nazi's who thought they were superior exterminated whoe family's. Men, women and children, yes new born infants smashed against concrete and walls. And this scum bag was one of those that did these things, laughing as it was done. Took 69 years for him to finally come to justice which sucks because I think had to many years of freedom. POPS HARDFIRE! Are the Paranoids Coming to Get Us?
Air Force One Well Dave, I'm going to have to say both. There's no denying that Tony Iommi's chunky lead and Geezer Butler's thundering bass set a lasting standard for headbanging power trios. But there's also no denying there's something very unsettling about today's body politic. Just the other day I decided to drop into lower Manhattan for a surprise low altitude fly-by photo op. I was expecting friendly smiles and waves, but instead that crowd in Battery Park started scurrying around like a herd of caribou underneath Sarah Palin's helicopter. I mean, what's up with that? Dave Burge Psychologists say some New Yorkers may still have lingering memories of 9-11. Air Force One 9-1-what? Dave Burge Nevermind. How are you coping with the trauma of that painful incident? Air Force One Well Dave, I have to say my self-esteem took a hit. It made me realize that Jumbo Jet-Americans still face an uphill battle against paranoid transportational profiling.
