His speech last night to a rare joint session of Congress (i.e. all our politicians), was firm, assertive, inspiring and pointed to real and positive changes, i.e. 1) no disqualifications for pre-existing conditions and 2) Not dropping people's health insurance when they get sick! Gads! -- Not needing is much I had no idea the health insurance industry was so cruel and so criminal...criminal, imo, that someone has insurance then when they get cancer their policy is NOT RENEWED! Both sides found agreement on some basic principles. Crucially, they also agreed to separate their debate about action on terrorism from more general dialogue. That was a key demand from Pakistan - and may make it possible for the mechanism of talks to be revived, independent of India's continuing demands for tougher action on militant groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, the group India blames for the Mumbai attacks. That apparent concession from India was offset by some tough statements on terrorism. Mr Singh has to face an Indian public which is still angry about the Mumbai attacks and frustrated that, so far, Pakistan has done little to convict those responsible.

POPSDone its Job? (stimulus) Our GOP Gov. accepted the stimulus $$$ and our local commissioners are still threatening us with cuts in law enforcement, firefighters and EMTs. I KNOW there are being teachers laid off. I heard an interesting comment from Scott Rasmussen yesterday. He said that there are more conservatives in the US than liberals. He said that not all conservatives are Republican or all Democrats liberals. I'd say there is a serious, serious need for all conservatives (fiscal ones especially) to thwart this bogus program and roll it back. The only thing being stimulated is a recession and more $$ into the pockets of corrupt and greedy politicians.
