POPSPart I The Marijuana FACTS
Quality paints and varnishes were made from hemp seed oil until 1937. 58,000 tons of hemp seeds were used in America for paint products in 1935; Sherman Williams Paint Co. testimony before Congress against the 1937 Marijuana Tax Act. * Henry Ford's first Model-T was built to run on hemp gasoline and the CAR ITSELF WAS CONTRUCTED FROM HEMP! On his large estate, Ford was photographed among his hemp fields. The car, 'grown from the soil,' had hemp plastic panels whose impact strength was 10 times stronger than steel; Popular Mechanics, 1941. * Hemp called 'Billion Dollar Crop.' It was the first time a cash crop had a business potential to exceed a billion dollars; Popular Mechanics, Feb., 1938. * Mechanical Engineering Magazine (Feb. 1938) published an article entitled 'The Most Profitable and Desirable Crop that Can be Grown.' It stated that if hemp was cultivated using 20th Century technology, it would be the single largest agricultural crop in the U.S. and the rest of the wor

POPSBuzz Aldrin: NASA on Wrong Track With Moon-Mission Reruns I've got a problem with the five year gap between manned launches for America. We'll need to hit a ride with Russia, which doesn't like us today or China, who are beginners in space. We'll likely anger China anyway if and when we do something about North Korea

POPSPrefab Green Homes continues: The result was the Clayton I-House (view Clayton’s online tour of it here), an innovative prefab home that can be powered for a dollar a day, thanks to Low-E windows, solar augmentation, high-efficiency appliances and superior insulation. The solar panels on the roof don't supply all the home's needs, but they do cut electricity consumption in half. There's also a tankless water heater and a cistern that collects rainwater from the roof for use in gardening, car washing or other outdoor uses. Floors are made of fast-growing bamboo, and paint and insulation are low- or zero-emission.

POPSBritish Steam-Car Team Sets Sights on 170 mph Engineers are trying for a modest speed, but the technology they're using is no shrinking violet. According to Popular Mechanics, the British Steam Car uses liquefied petroleum gas and a dozen microboilers to generate the 3 megawatts of heat needed to create a steam temperature of 750 degrees Fahrenheit. The steam flows through 1.86 miles of tubing and several giant valves to a two-stage turbine spinning at 13,000 rpm and drives the rear wheels. The system can turn 10.5 gallons of water a minute into steam at 40 times atmospheric pressure. "It's a total-loss system," project manager Matt Candy told Popular Mechanics. "We're not condensing the steam or anything. We just throw it out the back and, as a consequence, we're only about 10 percent thermally efficient." British Steam Car in successful tests according to the Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/3690952/British-Steam-Car-in-successful-tests.html

POPSNASA Needs to Take Space Sex Seriously The fact remains however, that we are naive of the effects of sex in space, let alone if it is even a pleasurable experience. The mechanics of "human docking procedures" (as described by tests carried out by the Russian space agency) are a lot more complicated when in zero gravity. There are also huge ethical questions hanging over possible pregnancies in space. Zero-G tests on rat embryos produced decreased skeletal and brain development, the effects on a human embryo will remain a mystery. The fact remains that NASA continues to cut back biological research in favor of future Moon missions, so much about human sexuality in space will remain a mystery.

POPS9/11 CONTRADICTIONS: Open Letter to Congress and the Press David Ray Griffin is about to unleash truth about 9/11 in a very powerful manner in this book to be released soon. His tenacity is an example of how to push truth against propaganda by this bull dog who will not let go of the bone he has to pick with the official story. Also, listen to him on the Charles Goyette radio show in Phoenix, AZ recently where he brings out the FACT that the FBI says Ted Olson's (who represented Bush and Cheney before the Supreme Court in the Election 2000 controversy vs. Gore) story about a cell phone call from his wife on Flight 77 is not and cannot be true! (This story made Digg). The clip on the audio link about the FBI and Ted Olson's statement is about 80% into the interview.
