POPSAl Gore Goes From "Save The Whales" To "Join The Whales"
"I've finished on one mountain and starting on the second one. We've also got trees planted in Brazil and small gardens planted all over Central America, but I admit that I'm a little behind", he joked as only Al Gore can. "Butt I should be able to catch up by doubling up on the tree planting." Gore said he has made contacts all over the world in his new venture and even helped a family in Afghanistan. "They were growing poppies to sell for opium because they needed the income to feed their families. I suggested that they grow food instead of poppies to begin with and it was like a light bulb...the new fluorescent ones of course, went off in the farmer's head." Gore said the organizing of the new "Join The Whales" will begin this weekend at his home in east Tennessee. "We've got a big room here at the house that five of us can easily fit into." Gore went on to say that himself and Tipper take special pills to cut down on the flatulence, "Our effort to cut down on Global

POPSThe Story of the Red Poppy So the Americans arranged for artificial poppies to be made by women in war-ravaged northern France. The funds raised from selling the poppies were for children who had suffered because of the war. In Britain, the weary soldiers came back from the grimness of war to find that life was hard at home too, though in a different way. Many of the men were wounded or disabled or suffering the effects of gas and shell-shock. Many were physically or mentally unable to work; many others found that there were no jobs anyway. The provision made for them by the state was less than adequate. They certainly didn't get the heroes' homecoming that they had been led to expect. So ex-servicemen's societies united in 1921 to form the British Legion. Its purpose was to provide support to ex-servicemen, especially the disabled, and their families, and it was to become one of the most successful British charities ever.

POPSThe Story of the White poppy By the end of the war the guildswomen had learned first hand the extent to which war could profoundly affect and harm their lives. Many of them were the wives, mothers and sisters of men who had been killed. They embarked on an active campaign for peace. By 1933 they were searching for a symbol which could be worn by guildswomen who wanted to show publicly that they were against war and for nonviolence. Someone came up with the idea of a white poppy. Workers from the Co-operative Wholesale Society began making the poppies almost at once. Money from selling them, after the production costs had been paid for, was sent to help war-resisters and conscientious objectors in Europe. The wearing of a white poppy on Armistice Day became a focus for the peace movement, and the Peace Pledge Union took it up in 1936 as 'a definite pledge to peace that war must not happen again'.

POPSUS Bombs Bagel Bakery Stalwarts Just when you thought it was safe to come in from the war, the US Air Force is claiming victory over Afghan drug dealers by using thousands of tons of bombs to blow up poppy seeds that are used as toppings for bagels around the world and to grow poppies that can turn into flowers sold around the world and some to provide opium. No one could say for sure whether these seeds were members of the Taliban or the BRUEGGEMAN'S BAGELS Network.

POPSObama’s First Military Order by Paul L. Williams, Ph.D. DON’T SHOOT BACK AT TALIBAN TERRORISTS!!! The first order from America’s new commander is that the Marines must not return enemy fire for fear of killing an Afghan non-combatant. ABC Correspondent Mike Boettcher, who is embedded with Golf Company, reports that the young Marines, when ambushed by Taliban forces with automatic weapons, were ordered to shoulder their rifles. Their command, Boettcher writes, warned them that “one civilian casualty could negate the No. 1 objective of this operation " - winning the trust and respect of the farmers of the Helmand River Valley.” How are the Marines expected to win the trust and respect of the farmers? By not disturbing the opium poppy fields which remain in full bloom. The Marines of Bravo’s Company 1st Platoon sleep beside groves of poppies Troops of the 2nd Platoon walk through the fields on strict orders not to swat the heavy opium bulbs.

POPSLiving in a Theocracy We often hear of the need to "protect" cultures from contamination. Of what good would it do to protect a culture like show in this clip from outside influence except to introduce the concept of equality, liberty, and morality stripped from the repressive theistic dogma that exists there now? Some things are simply wrong. Justifying them on the basis of culture or religion is no justification at all. It's an excuse.
