POPSChild Rapist and Anti-Catholic Cult Boss Gets 175 Years His stepdaughter, Christhiaon Coie, wasn’t among them but, in an earlier interview with the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Report, said she was raped by Alamo when she was in her teens. “I want to thank for demanding justice when so many others turn a blind eye to so many pathetic cowards who hide behind Bibles, sheets and children,” she said in an E-mail today as she awaited news of Alamo’s sentence. Alamo met and married Coie’s mother, Edith — a name she soon changed to Susan — in 1966 and the couple began Tony Alamo Christian Ministries three years later in California. Followers say they were punished with beatings and food deprivation, and threatened with losing their spouses and children. Among other things, Alamo blamed the Catholic church for communism, Nazism and the two world wars.

POPSAre You an Islamophobe? If you answered most or all of these affirmatively, you are a vile Islamophobe and deserve to be beheaded as the quran instructs. If you answered one third or more of them affirmatively, you are a borderline Islamophobe and need to receive brainwashing to become a full-fledged dhimmi.

POPSWhy won't opponents of same-sex marriage make predictions on the record?
More: You would think they would react like Albert Pujols when presented with a hanging curveball. Yet none was prepared to forecast what would happen in same-sex marriage states versus other states. Maggie Gallagher, president of the Virginia-based Institute for Marriage and Public Policy, has declared that losing this battle "means losing American civilization." But she politely declined my invitation. Stanley Kurtz, a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, has been equally dire… When it came time to offer more specific predictions, Kurtz was missing in action. I e-mailed him twice and left a message on his office voicemail. After two weeks, I'm beginning to lose hope. The only person willing to talk was David Blankenhorn, president of the Institute for American Values…When I talked with him, though, he declined to predict what tangible bad things will occur in same-sex marriage states.

POPSBarack Obama Finds Real Birth Certificate Upon finding out that he had both Mormon and Mexican heritage, Obama answered by saying that "I'll bet Utah is sorry now that they didn't vote for me. Maybe I'd better appoint Mitt Romney to my cabinet or something." The President Elect also used his executive powers to overturn BYU's loss in the Pioneer Bowl to Arizona, declared Pace Thick and Chunky Salsa as the official condiment of the White House, and ordered a plate of Huevos Rancheros for breakfast. Next on his agenda was inviting all of the contestants in the Miss USA and Miss America pageants to his offices. "If I get to be a Mormon and have more than one wife, I'd better get me a lot of good looking ones!"

POPSTrial of Anti-Catholic Cult Leader In addition to his alleged sexual proclivities, Alamo frequently denigrated Catholics. He has blamed them for “every filthy thing,” including communism, Nazism, the two world wars, the Jonestown massacre, drugs, prostitution and pornography. He also spewed hatred toward gays, referring in a defense of polygamy to “these bastards, these homosexual Vaticanites, they condone homosexuals and they condemn marriage.” The SPLC lists his Tony Alamo Christian Ministries as a hate group. Alamo’s headquarters in Fouke, Ark., was raided last fall by dozens of federal and state law enforcement agents searching for evidence of child abuse. He was arrested on Sept. 25 at an Arizona motel. It’s not the first time he’s faced significant jail time: Alamo was convicted on tax evasion charges in 1994 and served four years of a six-year prison sentence.

POPSMr. and Mrs. and Mrs…or Whatever The problem, as the Lessins and others have noted, is that, given this reasoning, denying them the right to marry of the basis of the number of partners is also arbitrary and unjust.

POPSThe Love of Christ via Pat Robertson It is an indictment of Christianity in the USA that a man like Pat Robertson can have the platform and public support that he does. Comparing homosexual marriage between consenting adults to pedophilia and child molestation is outrageous. Yet the love of Christ doesn't constrain him from going there.

POPS How Islam Has Changed Over The Centuries against all the rest of mankind. The essence of his doctrine was violence and lust; to exalt the brutal over the spiritual part of human nature. “Between these two religions, thus contrasted in the characters, a war of more than twelve hundred years has already raged. That war is yet flagrant; nor can it cease but by the extincture of that imposture, which has been permitted by Providence to prolong the degeneracy of man. While the merciless and dissolute are encouraged to furnish motives to human action, there never can be peace on earth and good will toward men. The hand of Ishmael will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him.” — John Quincy Adams, 1830

POPS2 Canadian polygamists arrested Here's a thought: If marriage is between one man and one woman, how do the Mormons (and famous biblical characters), who bankrolled Prop 8, explain polygamy?

POPSmarriage Sign should have read Daughters, remember true Mormons prefer polygamy.

POPSAnother Variety of Insanity What defines "respectable" religion from a cult. I suspect it's either number of followers or going against the favorite wedge issue of the day. In reality, the differences are very small and often hinge on the number of angels on a pin. From the article: "At their Saugus, Calif., church in the 1970s, the Alamos preached that anyone who quit the cult would be killed, driven mad, or changed into a homosexual."

POPSEuropean Ignorance about America "The majority of Britons believe that since the Second World War, the United States has more often sided with non-Muslims than with Muslims. In fact, in 11 out of 12 major conflicts between Muslims and non-Muslims, Muslims and secular forces, or Arabs and non-Arabs, the United States has sided with Muslims and/or Arabs." "But Britons are not the only Europeans who hold unbalanced views of the United States. Take Germans, for example. The majority of them believe that America poses a greater threat to world peace than does Iran. This after the United States helped Germans rebuild their country after World War Two and then provided for their defense during five decades of the Cold War." "according to a recent poll of Berlin youth, only one-third of the city’s 15- to 17-year-old students know who built the Berlin Wall. Almost 14 percent think it was built by the Allies; two percent believe it was built by the United States."

POPSWant to live longer? Very interesting but I don't think I can afford having two wives and it's a little too much emotional garbage to deal with.

POPSPolygamy is the key to a long life Men, by contrast, can reproduce well into their 60s and even 70s and 80s, and most researchers assumed this explained their longevity. But Lummaa and colleague Andy Russell wondered whether other factors explained the long lifespan of men, such as a grandfather effect. If female survival is the main explanation for male longevity, then monogamous and polygamous men would live for about the same length of time. Instead, it seems that fathering more kids with more wives leads to increased male longevity. Men, then, live long because they're fertile well into their grey years. The explanation could be both social and genetic. Men who continue fathering kids into their 60s and 70s could take better care for their bodies because they have mouths to feed. But evolutionary forces acting over thousands of years could also select for longer-lived men in polygamous cultures.
