POPSOMG. Zionist are SORRY. Whatever next? No Child Killing? If things keep going like this, no one will have anything to atone for when Yom Kippur comes around... Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, is many months away, but it seems as if everyone is saying sorry to everyone else. ... McClatchy A start. Now if the beggar-bowl was dumped, and the hate-crime hoaxes stopped, then the REAL victims of Zionism might receive justice.

POPSIsraeli PM Declares Halt To Gaza Offensive The response from Hamas, an Islamist group which has ruled Gaza since 2007 and is sworn to the destruction of the Jewish state, stopped short of an outright threat to continue the rocket attacks. "We will not accept the presence of a single soldier in Gaza," Fawzi Barhum, a Gaza-based Hamas spokesman, told AFP. "The Zionist enemy must stop all its aggression, completely withdraw from the Gaza Strip, lift the blockade, and open the crossings." Israel's history, facts, maps http://www.answers.com/TEL+AVIV?method=24#Maps Since the start of the operation 10 Israeli soldiers and three civilians have been killed in combat or in rocket strikes. The army says more than 700 rockets and mortar rounds have been fired into Israel during that period. One of the main aims of the offensive has been to put a halt to rocket and mortar attacks but a further 23 missiles were fired from Gaza on Saturday, including seven long-range missiles.

POPSIsraeli PM Ehud Olmert Claims to be Able to Order Bush Around Olmert reports that Bush had no idea what the substance of the resolution was, and this anecdote is consistent with what we know about how this White House has functioned. Bush admitted to Bob Woodward that an important decision on sending some troops to Iraq had been made by National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley and that Bush had not sat in on the relevant meetings. So Rice was at the UN on her own, thinking she was a plenipotentiary of Bush, and Olmert was annoyed at this attitude and decided to put her in her place.

POPS Iran Urges Assassinations Worldwide In the editorial, Shariatmadari recounted a story from a 13 year old teenager who had gone to the front lines during the Iran-Iraq war with the permission of the mullahs’ current Supreme Leader, Ali Khamanei, and was later killed. Shariatmadari compared him and other teenagers who were sent to mine fields by the regime, to “Ghassem,” a young man who fought alongside the revered Shiite Imam Hussein in 680 and died. Today, this war is in Gaza. As the Imam used to say, with the revitalization of true Islam of Prophet Muhammad, the Great Satan roared and issued a call to all the other big and small devils. … Now that the war in Gaza is the point of conflict for all of Islam against all infidels, why should the act of confronting the Zionists only be limited to the borders of occupied Palestine? Are the people of Gaza not representing the entire Muslim world in their fight with the Zionists?

POPSAnti-War Protests In Israel No organisation called for the demonstration – but more than a thousand men and women gathered spontaneously in order to protest in front of the Ministry of Defense in Tel-Aviv, only a few hours after the murderous Air Force attack on the Gaza strip started. "I know there has been a lot of generalizations and criticizing of the Israeli people during these wars, so I figured I'd share with you another side of the story you wouldn't see on TV." (sean57, DP~Thanks)

POPS French 'Humanitarianism' Following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert yesterday, President Shimon Peres spoke to the press. “Nobody in this world understands what are Hamas’s goals and why it continues to fire missiles,” Peres said. “This shooting has no point, no logic and no chance.” I hesitate to say that I understand something about the Middle East that Peres doesn’t, but Hamas’s goals seem clear to me. The first is the destruction of the Jewish state. The second is to make it seem right. Here’s Alan Dershowitz at the Christian Science Monitor: There have been three types of international response to the Israeli military actions against the Hamas rockets. Not surprisingly, Iran, Hamas, and other knee-jerk Israeli-bashers have argued that the Hamas rocket attacks against Israeli civilians are entirely legitimate and that the Israeli counterattacks are war crimes.

POPSIsraeli PM issues 'last minute' appeal to Hamas Stop fighting back or we will obliterate you, is what he is saying to the rest of the world. Fancy Hamas having the gall to be upset by the death of their mates. Fancy Hamas being upset because the Jews wouldn't let food or medical aid through, and the list goes on. The Jews have pushed the Arabs too hard, too long, me thinks.

POPSIsrael's Young Conscientious Objectors Refuse to serve military of Palestinian occupation, and been jailed for it. The campaign here calls for the.... for the release of those teenagers who have been jailed for their principled refusal to serve in an army which occupies the Palestinian Territories. The imprisonment of these conscientious objectors is a violation of their human rights and contrary to International Law. Absolutely! The majority in Israel, and even media like Haaretz Press, are more predisposed to sympathize with Palestinians than the government elite. Even Olmert suggested they give back land from the '67 war to make peace with Syria and Palestinians, but he is now a lame duck PM.

POPSIsraeli police say PM Olmert should be indicted Mr Olmert is also accused of filing duplicate claims to government agencies for travel expenses. The accusations date back to his time as mayor of Jerusalem and minister of trade and industry before he became prime minister in 2006.

POPSIsrael ENews Poll Result: Dial M for Murder! Maybe it was the misuse of an expendable to provide Sarkozy with a memorable end to his visit and divert attention away from the normal Israeli PM corruption charges now pressing on Olmert. No? Well I certainly don't believe he deliberately shot himself in the head in public and then jumped off a roof!!! One bullet in the head normal prevents subsequent high jinks.

POPSCabinet approves Hisbullah Prisoner Swap Well, if the Israeli *prisoners* are dead, perhaps that's how the Hizbullah's *prisoners should return? Does this make sense? I would want the bodies/bones of my relatives returned to me, but why should live people be traded for dead ones? (only in Israel)

POPSIsraeli 'suicide cop': family refute claims that he killed himself "Suicide-by-cop' Yes Suicide-by-height Yes Suicide-by-bullet Yes Public suicide-by-bullet and by height NEVER! Public suicide itself is unusual. Suicide is a private act, usually seriously done out of view. Not at a public event with two presidents and a PM present. And a band. That was a nice touch. Maybe he was attempting to assassinate Olmert and was taken out first. But shooting yourself and jumping off a height is pushing credibility too far. In a state where Arab mothers and children are responsible for their own murder from the sky, credibility isn't creditable. Where 'judicial assassination' is the norm, this fiasco hardly rates. When the assassin(?) of Israeli PM Rabin is now toasted as a saviour, what should we expect? A state born of terror and murder infects its evil on others. No good god could permit such evil for so long.

POPS Olmert 'took cash in envelopes' Politicians can't get away with bribes if they are not popular. Gotta have charisma, greed and be good at the job. They all do it, if you judge by the number getting caught.

POPS Olmert faces new corruption probe And so the Iraqis know that they are not the only ones living with corruption. (This goes well with the earlier clip about McCain and his corruption.)

POPSRabbi: Assassinate another Israel PM!!! Why? For returning East Jerusalem to the rightful owners, the Palestinians. Who to do it this time? Who else but the Israel 'Defence' Forces (IDF), the master assassins. "I deeply regret such statements and apologize for them. They were uttered spontaneously, off the cuff, and were not meant seriously." Not serious? Assassination! Some apology. An American MS sufferer is facing two years in jail for suggesting solving the US problems by killing Bush, a noble cause.

POPSKnives are Out: - PEACE is OFF. WHY NOW??? Most Israeli politicians are corrupt, so why pick on him particularrly and at this very important moment in time. Is it the AG, who it is clear is the real political power in Israel, just pulling Olmert's chain for fun or is there a more sinister motive? Is Sharon due back? He is the only possible Israeli who could negotiate peace with the Palestinians without getting assassinated by the growing extreme right Orthodox fascists controlling as happened with Rabin. Rabin's killer is the pin-up boy of the fascists. And the Rabbis' curse is still potent giving them a VETO on any peace deal.

POPS Map Of Israel Shown In Palestinian Colors Palestinians are still demanding that a final statement at the summit deal with the core issues (refugees, borders, Jerusalem) and provide a timetable. Prior to her meeting with Olmert, Rice sought to downplay expectations for the outcome of the conference, saying everyone knows that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will not be resolved in November or December. Palestinians are still demanding that a final statement at the summit deal with the core issues (refugees, borders, Jerusalem) and provide a timetable for carrying out solutions. Israel wants to mention all the issues but not bind itself to a timetable, which could force Israel to make concessions without meeting its own security concerns.

POPSIsrael's NAZI Kingmaker: Russian, Israeli, French, Canadian, Angolan.
He travels on an Angolan diplomatic passport to avoid arrest. His Jerusalem soccer team has a notoriously racist, anti-Arab fan base. Chant of "Death to Arabs" are regular. He has said, "Any politician that I will support will be the prime minister." Yet a Knesset committee has openly took issue with his actions during the war, accusing him of acting entirely for political reasons. To his supporters, he is simply the natural result of an Israeli establishment that is so wrapped up in corruption and cronyism that it is unable to care for its citizens. One important opponent said, "There is a sense among some people," he said, "that democracy just didn't work for us, and we should be like the rest of the Middle East -- that we tried democracy and failed. He's an oligarch. Don't forget that a lot of his supporters are Russians. They're not familiar with democracy." Handling of Moscow News is widely viewed as hostile to free speech and raised questions about his ties to Russia.

POPSWP: Slippery PM "dogged by corruption allegations" more charges
"We are sure the investigation will clearly show that the purchase of the apartment by the Olmert family was made honestly, ethically and for an appropriate price," ...The state comptroller, Lindenstrauss, also has accused Olmert of using his influence to steer a government grant to a colleague in 2001, when he was trade minister. He has recommended that AG Mazuz open a criminal investigation in this case, too. Suspicions have also clouded two other real estate deals Olmert transacted in Jerusalem and in a trendy Tel Aviv. Olmert has been dogged by corruption allegations throughout his long political career but has never been convicted. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing. Word of the criminal investigation hits Olmert at a sensitive time. He has been meeting with PA Abbas on renewing full-fledged peace talks. And his popularity, badly eroded by Israel's failed war in Lebanon, had recently surged after a reported Israeli airstrike in Syria. ...WP Note the coincidence

POPSGory. Do NOT LOOK. Do NOT, unless you must! Israeli PM Ehud Olmert said the strike, which hit a civilian area, was the result of a "technical failure". "I'm very uncomfortable with this event. I'm very distressed." "I checked it and I verified it. This is not the policy,"

POPS1997 Assassination attempt I trust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was watching his back so he didn't get one in the back from the master assassins like another Israeli Prime Minister. Will DeadManWalking Olmert have to be carried out in a box? Or maybe he can become a StepAside PM like the current sexually active President! FlipFlop has a whole different meaning in Israel.

POPSJudicial Assassination / Targeted Killings U.S. shows signs of emulating controversial Israeli anti-terrorism policy. The Israeli use of assassination as a national security method goes back decades. One important element of the tactic is that Israeli assassinations have been directed at foreigners, defined as "state enemies." Targets over the years have included officers from Arab armies, German-Nazi scientists who worked for Arab military projects and Palestinian terrorists. Israeli intelligence agents, their foreign helpers and Israel's military units executed the operations outside of Israel's borders and in the occupied territories, but never inside Israel or against Israeli citizens. The first known targeted killing occurred in 1956, when an Israeli agent gave a rigged parcel to Col. Mustafa Hafez, the director of Egyptian military intelligence in Gaza, which was then under Egyptian control. When Hafez opened the package, it exploded in his face, mortally wounding him.

POPSReasons Behind Lebanon War. The true reasons behind Israel's assault on Lebanon last year are finally beginning to unravel before the Vinograd Commission. But alas, I doubt the commission will have much effect. It's terms of reference are too narrow. Author Uri Avenery is a veteran peace activist for over 4 decades, I just love his down to earth writing style. I only hope another Lebanon operation can be averted, but I am sceptical given the strength of the planning in June's adventure and because I have previously read of secret meetings between Israel, Turkey, and Lebanon's PM late last year in Cairo.
