POPSBuilding MPS business around air travel
The current plan for Mobile Process Services involves partnerships with airlines. That seems obvious since it is a global plan and certainly requires a lot of meetings in the Nordic countries especially. Even so, there is a big question in my mind about how necessary are face to face meetings, even in the initial trust-building stages. MPS, once it is into the production phase of pilot projects, doesn't make a whole lot of sense in terms of face to face. Project teams in the Smart Business Network will be drawn from widely dispersed organizations, on short notice and for quick bursts of collaboration. Student researchers will balk at a lot of travel for the expense, whether they're paying for it, the customer or their university. Not to mention the time involved. I'm sure as MPS evolves there will be considerable air travel for face to face meetings - maybe a lot. But it seems so anti-green and 20th century to build a partnership plan upon airlines and face to face meetings when th

POPSTomgram: ...Destabilizing Pakistan I found the views presented in this post quite troubling. Upon reflection, I think that is because my cynical suspicion is that its more likely to be true than false. (Even more so, because I really don't like being "cynical").

POPSChild porn victim would like to be paid for all those pictures people have downloaded of her
My comment: So negative this story is, sometimes there are no answers at all, just questions. One thing for sure, there are no winners. Article: The judge in the case acknowledged, "We're dealing with a frontier here." "The issue is part of a larger debate over fairness in sentencing sex offenders. For years, lawmakers (and some voters) have reasoned that virtually no punishment was too severe for such criminals; even statutory limits on sentencing were often exceeded." "Now some courts have begun to push back, saying these heavy sentences are improper, and a new emphasis has arisen on making sex offenders pay monetary damages for their crimes. If such damages become widespread, experts say, it may make it easier to reach a consensus on measured sentencing." A related article in the Virginian-Pilot is here (A man who lived in Virginia Beach and was a member of the Shriners there was convicted of downloading "the Misty series.") - http://st.bit.ly/cMNzpo

POPSWeed is good - hemp comes to the city The Friars' crop, a mix of Chinese cultivars known as Yellow River and Lulu, is a fine example: the stalks can be used in the textile and construction industries - "they even use it, instead of steel, to reinforce concrete" - while the seeds can be eaten

POPSLieutenant-Colonel Lee Archer On October 22 1944 Archer took part in a sweep along the Danube. With his leader, he was attacking a Heinkel bomber when seven Messerschmitts appeared on the scene. In the ensuing battle, Archer shot down three of them, the last as it attempted to land. The "Red Tails" escorted bomber formations to attack the oilfields of Romania, rail yards in Austria and on long-range operations to Regensburg and Munich. Archer shared in the destruction of another Messerschmitt and he was also credited with destroying six enemy aircraft on the ground, in addition to several locomotives, motor transports and barges. By the end of the war he had flown 169 missions.

POPSSea Slug Is Half Plant & Half Animal The article continues to say that baby slugs can't carry out photosynthesis until they eat their first & only meal of algae. ""We collect them and we keep them in aquaria for months," Pierce told LiveScience. "As long as we shine a light on them for 12 hours a day, they can survive ." Pierce and his colleagues used a radioactive tracer to ensure that the slugs are now producing the chlorophyll themselves and not gathering it from algal contamination." PS Sorry about the extraneous bits in this clip.
