POPSPigeons Show Superior Self-recognition Abilities To Three Year Old Humans Question: If pigeons are more self-aware than a 3 year old, what value is in self-awareness. And if any value at all, should that not be applied to pigeons. Is self awareness the deciding factor in the value of a species? We value humans above lower life forms typically because we are "superior" and "self-aware". If self-awareness is part of the equation of the value of the sanctity of life, then would not pigeons be more valuable than infants? (Note; I am not a vegetarian, just a devil's advocate and this idea struck me the moment I read this article and thought it would make a great debate topic). This question boils down to: What right do we have at placing value on life, when it has the same basic similarities to our own? I do not have an answer myself, but would love to see it debated.

POPSBodyshock: The Amazing Story behind the 256 Year-Old Man "Looking at all of this from a medical and documented perspective: Jeanne Louise Calment, a French woman who died in 1997 so far holds the title for the person who has roamed the earth the longest: 122 years, which is a phenomenal length of time. That means, that if the records discovered by Wu Chung-chien were accurate, Li Ching-Yun’s age would surpass the official record by more than 130 years. Is this even medically possible? The detail, which seems to prove both arguments and debunk them at the same time, is Li’s youthful appearance, noted in a 1928 article from the New York Times. Visually and physically, he appeared to look like a typical 60 year-old. Does this therefore signify a superhuman body capable of lasting one quarter of a millennium, or is the story of Li Ching-Yun based on a series of half-truths, lies or exaggerations?"

POPSIn search of a pretty bride The next day, the Redneck again asked how things went. "Well," the man replied, "she's just a wee bit -- not that you can hardly tell -- cross-eyed." The Redneck nodded and suggested he date the third girl to see if things might be better. So he did. The next morning the man rushed in exclaiming, "She's perfect, just perfect! She's the one I want to marry." The redneck gave his blessing, so the couple was wed immediately. Months later their first baby was born. When the man visited the nursery he was horrified: the baby was the ugliest, most pathetic human you can imagine. He rushed to his father-in-law and asked how such a thing could happen considering the beauty of the parents. "Well," explained the Redneck, "she was just a wee bit -- not that you could hardly tell -- pregnant when you met her."
