POPS A Dust Storm on Mars Another pretty picture from APOD. What is so wonderful is that it was taken from a land based telescope in Europe.

POPS4Troops: Band Of Brothers-In-Arms The idea came from Sony executives, who asked Hurtado to create an ensemble that could sing, tour and raise money for veterans groups. A percentage of proceeds benefit a range of charities, including Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. POPSCavalcade Of Links: Super Bowl XLIV Edition The Camp of the Saints seemed smitten with the timeless beauty of Jean Simmons. The Other McCain expressed concern that I may be developing a disorder that never discussed in polite society: Blogger Mood Disorder. POPSAnd Ireland CAPITULATES I was only just sitting down with a cup of tea to watch the 9 pm news when this story passed in front of my eyes. Of course, they didn't explain anything about it--just showed a nice sunny pic of somewhere in the middle east as they cooed the words 'shariah compliant' across the screen I guess all my wondering about what made the RUSH to installing a BLASPHEMY LAW so urgent in this island has now been explained. SICKENING.

POPSAcademy Award Snubs, Snide & Surprises This is an interesting overview of 'who's in,' and 'who's out,' and why. Of course, the ability of Hollywood and our recording and media industry (the Grammys, etc. ) to give themselves awards after awards and more awards ad nauseum can get tiresome fast And not just Acadamy Awards and Grammys, but Golden Globes and People's Choice and Emmys and Blagh Blagh. It's half the time making media and half the time congratulating themselves for it. (I heard they gave out 245 Grammys, or something) But it's all part of the Circus Act of America and good for sales, I'm sure. And almost something for everyone, a nice pic or piece of music here and there -- depending upon personal tastes. (Or lack, thereof) At least the Academy Awards still appears to only have a dozen major categories or less. Winners picked by an exclusive club. Movie and national politics all part of it all. Welcome to Hollyweird. Be sure to bring your red carpet clothes.

POPSUSA High Speed Rail Gets a Fast Track
This clip quotes folks from California, but other articles from other states. It's really fantastic. Obviously good for jobs. But also a very valuable and efficient mode of transportation almost so far ignored in our country. Get a train pass to travel through Europe to appreciate the difference. We should be able to do it even better. For pic of the now designated and funded high-speed corridors, see: http://thetransportpolitic.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/picture-13.png (I live near a great, long rail lines...one of the gray lines on the map, above, from Chicago to LA; great, relaxing, inexpensive; some nice side routes into the mountains and one pulls right up to a restaurant at the Grand Canyon). To some, they see President Obama like Moses bringing down some ideas they don't want, too busy #$#%ing around, worshiping idols, bearing false witness: pissed Moses off. But here we see real positive action. Change is happening. And it's coming on a fast track. Of cou
