Ayers and Obama
oscarrob
by oscarrob  10-6-2008    1
The fact that they are now calling Obama a terrorist because of this is outrageous, even given all the facts. Assume that Obama knew Ayers history, so what? Are you going to resign in protest from a charitable board, or refuse to be recruited because 30 years ago the guy recruiting you was a bomber protesting the Vietnam War, gave himself up to the FBI, who (shock and dismay) blew the intelligence so they had no case. That makes you a terrorist? I must be a hardened criminal because I worked on a loading dock once with a guy who I knew was a loan shark. John McCain consorted with financial criminals who stole money from poor retirees who lost everything in the S&L crisis, he must be a criminal too and a thief and someone who would let retirees pensions disappear on purpose. Actually he's also a racist because he accepted an endorsement from a pastor who was know as a racist. No wait, he's a rampant liberal because he consorted and even sposored legislation with Ted Kennedy.

Dinner Bell Rings for Financial Feeding Frenzy
merrie
by merrie  10-3-2008    1
AIG today revealed what many private-equity firms, banks and asset managers want to know about the company’s asset sales to pay back an $85 billion government loan: What’s for dinner? AIG CEO Edward Liddy put an end to the suspense today. Here is what AIG is putting on the block: the U.S. life, retirement and pensions businesses, the personal-lines property-casualty business and at least a minority stake in its foreign life insurance business. All of AIG’s non-insurance businesses, including aircraft leasing, consumer finance division, U.S. auto insurance, a reinsurance business and asset manager, are also likely to be put on the block.

The Party's Over - Pat Buchanan
dl211
by dl211  9-24-2008    6
A true conservative cherishes prudence and believes in fiscal responsibility, balanced budgets and a self-reliant republic. He believes in saving for retirement and a rainy day, in deferred gratification, in not buying on credit what you cannot afford, in living within your means. Is that really what got Wall Street and us into this mess -- that we followed too religiously the gospel of Robert Taft and Russell Kirk? "Government must save us!" cries the left, as ever. Yet, who got us into this mess if not the government -- the Fed with its easy money, Bush with his profligate spending, and Congress and the SEC by liberating Wall Street and failing to step in and stop the drunken orgy? For years, we Americans have spent more than we earned. We save nothing. Credit card debt, consumer debt, auto debt, mortgage debt, corporate debt -- all are at record levels. And with pensions and savings being wiped out, much of that debt will never be repaid.

Another veteran being ignored
notareargunner
by notareargunner  9-18-2008
For all those who accept verbatim, the meaningless drivel from worthy charities, perhaps should take heed of what charity workers are saying. High powered executive with their enormous salaries and mammoth pensions, and comfortable offices in London, are completely out of touch with the realities of modern Britain and the strains on disabled veterans. Eddie Rawlinson is a honorary member of Blackpool Royal Marines Association and I can lay ever pfennig I ever had that not a single person from that Charity has been in touch with his family. So much for being a CHARITY. I bet their secretary does not miss a photo call on his way to becoming another toothless member of parliament.

Senator Barack Obama's Qualifications for the Office of the President of the United States
zizzy
by zizzy  9-1-2008    8
Let’s also not diminish another strong point of Barack Obama’s qualifications for President; he is a scholar of U. S. Constitutional law. On January 20, 2009 the person we elect will solemnly swear to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”. With respect to the two major canidates for President, it could be said that Barack Obama’s resume shows him to be intellectually more qualified to execute that oath.

25%+ of all Pentagon money is unaccounted for
papananook
by papananook  8-10-2008    4
Why Bush & Co. love war. Little known fact: George Herbert Walker, grandfather of George Bush Sr. and George Bush Jr, besides being a major financier to the Nazis along with his son-in-law Prescott Bush, was also appointed supervisor of military contracts by Woodrow Wilson. Interestingly enough, it's much easier to find out details of the family's dealings with the Nazis than it is to uncover the simple, biographical fact that the Bush dynasty has been hardwired into the finances of the Pentagon since Day One. Ripping off the nation via the Pentagon is a four generation old business for this crew. No wonder they're so good at it. 9/11 helped then both cover their tracks and take things to a new level. Wow, that's a pretty good scam for some people...I wonder where all that tax money goes? It's bad enough how they rip us off legally, let alone down the rabbit hole to...?

Is Labour buying silence?
notareargunner
by notareargunner  7-6-2008
After politicising the Civil Service, this corrupt government is now financially rewarding betrayal. Betrayal of an ethos that meant the British CS was the least corrupt in the World. Who can say that this is earned when there are over 3million pensioners still not receiving their rightful benefits, when English men are being suborned into third class citizens in their own country with threats of insidious new laws that prohibit love of ones own country, where these same civil servants act as judge and jury into claims for disability from injured war heroes, these same people who have denied access to personal records that prevent thousands of former soldiers getting a real pensions. Also these same people acquiesce with corrupt political regimes in the hiding of expenses abuses.

Skills crisis!!! to work at maccas or kill more chicken!!! they really think we are stupid!!!!! more evidence of coorporate greed (lousy product, most minimum wage possible) and government stupidity (allowing their business friends to import cheap labor with no strings attached) which will result in an influx of immigrants (read cheap labor so the rich can get even more profit without having to pay real wages and these immigrants wont care about rights and pensions etc) therefore the australian worker is by passed, . , as it is they can't ever get your order right.

When Yorkshire wakes up and realise that this odious woman is their mouthpiece, they will understand how Nu LieBer can send us into illegal wars, undermine your, and mine RIGHTS. Allow gun culture to run rampant; 19 year olds seem to be able to get guns easier then an education; they do not have the courage to debate Human Right through the one choice they - the Yorkshire Tykes - have, the ballot box. If you will elected hung monkeys, you deserve the Caroline Flints of the world. On the Daily Politics today, this awful woman must have done much to add to Conservative recruitment figures. For those of us who really believe in freedom of speech, woman - shut up.

Stroke the Rich
sahara
by sahara  4-25-2008    3
The IRS has become a subsidy system for super-wealthy Americans IRS winks at rich deadbeats. Because the news media focus on what politicians say about the tax system, rather than how it actually operates, few Americans realize that: -- Corporate income tax laws reward companies that move jobs offshore, allowing them to earn untaxed profits as long as the money stays offshore. -- Widespread cuts in health insurance and pensions for the rank-and- file are driven by a special law that lets top executives defer paying taxes for years, in a way that adds 35 percent to the cost of their bloated pay. -- The 2001 Bush tax cuts included a stealth tax increase on the middle class and upper-middle class that will cost them a half trillion dollars in the first 10 years and, for 35 million families, wiping out part or all of their Bush tax cuts. -- The stealth tax boost on people making $30,000 to $500,000 was explicitly used to make sure that the super rich would get their entire Bush tax

Labor Unions driving force behind California City fiscal collapse

California, a democratic stronghold, faces a fiscal crisis brought on by unrestrained public employee union pension demands. Unfunded benefits are eating away at the fiscal pie leaving less and less for general funding. These unfunded benefits will eventually bankrupt many municipalities not only in California but elsewhere.

How Long Until British Law No Longer Holds For Infidels?
merrie
by merrie  2-8-2008
Shari'a law allows for Muslim men to have a harem of up to four. New guidelines on income support from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) state: "Where there is a valid polygamous marriage the claimant and one spouse will be paid the couple rate ... The amount payable for each additional spouse is presently £33.65." The ruling could cost taxpayers millions of pounds.... So, the UK is going to allow for and fund its own Islamification by demographics? Not to mention that bigamy has been against UK and Western law for centuries!

Iraq Veterans Denied Help
Fat_flan
by Fat_flan  2-5-2008    1
Was it worth, is it worth, any person giving their youth, health and sanity for a bunch of self promoting rouges calling themselves politicians? Yes. This requires that those who have given in the past, take up the gudgel and continue to demand equity for their services. One thing that they ought to do, make sure they are listened to. In the UK, those voices are The Royal British Legion and SSAFA. History has shown that for many individuals, these charities are to be found wanting. After all, the powers of these charities did very well for themselves whilst a great percentage of veterans had to settle with an audacious theft of their pensions. See http://www.afpg.info/

Gay holocaust victims to be remembered in Westminster
zasel
by zasel  1-25-2008    1
Homosexuals who were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust will be recognized along with all the other victims. For years the gay victims of this historic tragedy were essentially ignored. But times have changed, and so has society's willingness to see beyond their petty ignorance, and realize that the gay people who were sent to the camps suffered as much as the Jews, gypsies, handicapped and others who were interred by these miserable animals who incarcerated, tortured and murdered millions. Pain and suffering know no prejudice.
