POPS12 Weirdest Things Ever Insured Whiskey company Cutty Sark was offering a $1.5 million prize for capturing the mythical Scottish lake inhabitant, the Loch Ness Monster, alive. They then took out home insurance against paying this prize, just in case someone actually did capture it alive. During the 1930s, then 13 year old Harvey Lowe insured his hands for $150,000, which was a large sum of money at the time. Harvey was the Yo-Yo World Champion of that era, having been playing since he was 12. He is still yo-yoing and filling up his current account to this day.

POPSRobin Long, Faces Expedited Court Martial Tomorrow I wish I could go to Colorado Springs to provide moral support. I guess I should write him a letter. Our occupation in Iraq is morally wrong. If this is how you are to fight terrorism, then why hasn't Israel every used Occupation as a means of fighting terrorism? POPSBell FTW (Well Sort Of) They still suck but Bell has an opportunity to kill after what I consider a total blunder with the iPhone. I hope Bell carries over the data plan to the Balckberry's and maybe even opens up to more free use of their network.

POPSPlan to Kill Current Internet by 2012, Enter Internet 2 It's documented, it's true, free and open internet will be killed. This is consistent with what Lieberman has been calling for on a small and temporary scale to censor. This will transform the open internet into the MSM internet, controlling the medium entirely. It is all about CONTROL on a global scale in an Orwellian mode of Newspeak.

POPSBill Moyers on Media Reform The trend towards "communitainment" by major media undermines democracy. Some press members are deferential complicit enablers. Ads, celebrities, nonsense and propaganda often dominate tv news in order for the conglomorates to please shareholders and pay top management.

POPSWhy Your Electric Bill Is So High You know those little black power supply boxes that sit on the cord between your gizmos and the outlet? Those things suck up power even when the device isn't in use, and that drain can add up. It's a good idea to put all your consoles on a power strip and shut them off at the source when you're not using them -- why pay all that money to fuel a device you're not enjoying?
