POPSMcCain Health Policy Advisor: There Are No Uninsured Americans! Voila! Problem solved! Just don't count them. Ignore them. Screw them. Voila! Unbelievable. Emergency room care is NOT health care. These people really are heartless, because they can't be so stupid as to not understand that preventative medicine is not only cheaper, it also saves, lengthens, and improves lives. So they just must be heartless. I don't know what else to call them. Unless I depart from polite discourse.

POPSCorporate Medicine Is Bad Medicine
71% of physicians believe managed care compromises patient care. 80% of Americans believe profit considerations compromise quality of care. The Health Care Finance Administration calculates that the United States would save enough money administering our health care system through a single payer to provide health care for the 44 million uninsured, while avoiding managed care and allowing free choice of providers. The result of this government-business agreement is that corporations make large profits, recipients get poorer care, for-profits appear to be able to offer services for less than the private sector, and politicians can claim they are saving money by "privatizing" (read "corporatizing"). This serves politicians and corporations, but people pay the price. The root ethical problem with corporate medicine is its abandonment of the ethos of traditional medicine, in which the needs of the patient are placed above the needs of the caregiver, in favor of an ethos of profit.

POPSQuids Pros and Quos in Healthcare Services
Cont..Another Obama adviser and close friend, Dr. Eric Whitaker, took over the Urban Health Initiative when he was hired at U. of C. in October 2007. Whitaker previously had been director of the Illinois Department of Public Health. Obama has said he recommended Whitaker for the state job, giving his name to Tony Rezko, who helped Gov. Blagojevich assemble his Cabinet. Rezko, a former fund-raiser for Obama and Blagojevich, was convicted in June on federal corruption charges tied to state deals. "I've heard complaints from a handful of constituents, but I've also had calls from people in the health care profession complaining," said Ald. Toni Preckwinkle, whose 4th Ward is just north of the hospital. "The medical professionals who have come to me are accusing the university of dumping patients on its neighboring institutions. ... Additionally, scientists at McMaster University have found that guys have a smaller density of neurons in areas of the temporal lobe that deal with language processing. Appreciate his naturally upbeat nature Does he seem to be "up" most of the time? It's not your imagination: Male brains produce 52 percent more serotonin (the chemical that influences mood) than female brains, according to a study done at McGill University. POPSDeath in the Waiting Room The report said Sabock sat, unattended, in the room for four work shifts. The report also found that Sabock, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, ate nothing the day he died and had little food in the three days preceding his death. The 47-page report also said workers were supposed to be closely monitoring Sabock's condition and may have forged documents that said they had. A patient in New York died in June after she waited in a hospital's mental ward waiting area for nearly 24 hours. Security video showed her writhing on the floor. It was nearly an hour before someone else flagged down a staff member who got help for the unresponsive woman.

POPSA Painkiller With Big Risks In my line of work, I see many people addicted to methadone and I must confess that it is simply shocking to me that doctors addict these people so lightly. I don't mean to make light of the personal responsibility of the patient, but it just boggles my mind and it is so sad; sad beyond belief. I see 40 year olds that I know won't live another 10 years.
