The plot is based on a story by Hoffman, although in Tchaikovsky’s hand the story lost a lot of its “grimness” to become the piece of seasonal confectionary that we know today. Act one begins with Clara and Fritz preparing for a Christmas party. Their uncle Drosselmeyer arrives with presents for the family, and entertains them with magic tricks. His present to Clara is a magical doll (the Nutcracker) and the children watch in amazement and delight as the life-sized doll dances in front of them. . . .

FACT. This guy went to jail for a real Republican sponsored election tampering. The Republican attacks against this group, ACORN...and their false attempts to link ACORN to Obama (as if Obama needs to do voter fraud...) --- all this has been done before and is the Classic method of Republican voter suppression. They started doing this seriously real bad from the year 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, now; and they intend to continue this for years forward. So when you hear the lies about ACORN today; I hope you will also consider the FACT of Republican voter dirty tricks that is documented here, and proved by this guy going to jail.

I know, sadly, there's enough dirty tricks to go around in all the political persuasions. But the Repubs really know how to pull off the dirtiest of dirty tricks, without blinking an eye! Or maybe they just have been mentally brainwashed and have become barbarian brutes, due to using, low blows for so long they can't tell RIGHT from WRONG any longer? Read about how they (repubs) wish to use the house addresses of those unfortunate individuals who have had their shelters, their family homes, confiscated by foreclosure, so they would be disqualified from voting because they no longer lived at such address. POPSThe Conservtive Gov't of Canada is imitating the Bushies Canada has always been far more democratic than the U.S. when it concerns access to information and transparency in government. Not perfect, for sure, but terrific compared to some of the tricks used in my home country of the U.S. But since the Conservative government, which is essentially made up of remnants of the failed Reform Party, has come to power, they have done everything in their power to imitate the machinations of the Bush administration and its policies of secrecy and outright lying. This article explains how they have now, without any notice whatsoever, closed down the access to information database that is used by journalists and the public to track the goings on in government. Canada must dump Stephen Harper and his gang of regressive assholes, and bring back transparency in government before the entire system turns into a carbon copy of the Bush administration. Harper has said his political hero is George W. Bush.
