POPSAlternate Iraq War Universe … Obama Won!
Never mind that the surge was initiated by President George Bush, and the current withdrawal was negotiated by the Bush administration with a sovereign, elected Iraqi government which his actions allowed to come into being, in place of the prior despot he had deposed, while Democrats, including Obama, were howling for abandonment. Obama deserves some credit, of course. For staying Bush’s course and throwing his own boneheaded pandering demands for a precipitous pullout under the bus. OK, I thought Friedman had got about as weird as he could. Silly me. This next step is particularly important, which is why we cannot let Afghanistan distract U.S. diplomats from Iraq. Remember: Transform Iraq and it will impact the whole Arab-Muslim world. Change Afghanistan and you just change Afghanistan. Fascinating. The big clamor for the last few years of course has been that Iraq was distracting us from Afghanistan, and now every jackanape out there, to include Friedman . . .

POPSDesk-Bound Journalists Blow Hopi and Navajo Green Stories It is sad to see what damage can be done when some journalists take to rewriting company PR. The hard work of Hopi and Navajo people to save their land and heritage is easily overlooked and set back by those who have degrees in journalism process but no on-the-ground knowledge about anything or the gumption to get at all sides of a story.

POPSTwisted Spirit of Hate and Fear Will Not Fade Away Everyone wants to be on the 11 o'clock news it seems. If police had not mis-characterized the bullying attack on a school bus, would these wannabe American Nazi bullies have had a rally that was successful for them? If local news had gotten the story correct earlier would the march had taken place. We have no shortage of looonies filled with hate and fear; we do have a shortage of newspeople who have respect for anything other than getting on first by pandering to the worst.

POPSNormalizing transgenderism in schools "Well, it's a huge problem," he explains. "Number one...it legitimizes the concept of transgenderism among middle-school kids, which is completely absurd and offensive and medically dangerous. The medical community recognizes gender-identity disorder as something that needs psychological help, you know -- not this politically correct pandering that actually causes more self-destruction."

POPSThe Dumbing Down of America At times I feel fortunate that I live in a large metropolitan setting. But the veneer of intelligence is running mighty thin these days. Increasingly, the wink-wink politics of yesterday is once again raising its bigoted head around the south. As far as the Republican policy of late of pandering to the white male vote, I hope they keep at it. The deeper the hole they dig for themselves, the longer it will be before they gain power and start dismantling the gains the Dems have instituted. Yet, it is nauseating to watch.

POPSObama Uses Fearmongering to asks Americans to set aside health-care fears Conflating Facts, rewriting History, Misappropriating Credit to the fault/liability for whose responsible of the nations situation at hand. Obama goes to his usual tactc of Lying, fear-mongering, and pandering as he asks us, the American tax-payer, for his trust with more of our taxes. This used-car salesman needs to go

POPSPOTUS as the Great Defender of the Faith It's fine for an American President to try to understand, respect, and avoid giving unnecessary offense to Muslims, in or outside of America. But pandering to them is unseemly. And pretending that "fight against negative sterotypes of Islam wherever they appear" is "part of responsibility President of the United States" is grotesque . Did our self-proclaimed former professor of constitutional law actually read this speech before he delivered it from his teleprompter? If he did, then that raises the question: Has he actually read his present job description, or the rest of the Constitution and its amendments? POPSSarah Palin, like most right-wingers, doesn't get it: Abortion-clinic violence is terrorism
But in 2004, anti-abortion militants in the Army of God -- the violently anti-abortion organization with which Scott Roeder, Tiller's assassin, was associated at one time -- openly celebrated their status as terrorists: Pleading, politics and pandering have done precious little to stop the holocaust against the innocent. But the Christian terrorist is not so inadequate. Dead abortionists don't kill babies, and a fire-bombed death camp can no longer facilitate the holocaust against them. As cream rises to the top, so the Christian terrorist rises above the huddled masses of churchgoers and the many voices that denounce their violent attempts to defend the innocent from their murderous assailants. The people committing these acts see themselves as terrorists and embrace the notion. Unfortunately, their fellow right-wingers who don't condone or share their behavioral extremism -- but do share their belief that abortion is murder and that Dr. Tiller was a "mass murderer" -

POPSZionist blog used by treacherous reprobate renegade on a par with murders of UK soldiers
Zionist blog used by treacherous reprobate renegade, who is on a par with recent murders of UK soldiers. When she is so obviously out of step with the huge majority of Irish, she is equal to the recent murderers of British soldiers who will not accept the will of the Irish, North and South, who refute the Good Friday Agreement passed by overwhelming majorities. She KNOWS that anti-Semitism is none existent here. The US government's figures confirm this . I asked her for ONE reported incident that was not a boycott of Zionist produce. Instead she went whinging to chauvinist protectors to prevent reasoned debate. She slandered the character of her professor, yet has no problem with her split loyalties from 'stealing' FREE third level education from this State. Who is worse - the reprobate with his killer gun or the knife in the back from this free-wheeler, who slanders her professor and her country with equal ease - just like her Zionists friends?

POPSMonument to Dead Fetus Proposal
I am really surprised at Wendell Gilliard. Wendell was 10 years on the Charleston District 6 City Council before recently vacating the seat to move up to the House for SC. Everyone liked him well enough. Across the board when asked what his greatest achievement was for the City of Charleston in over a decade, his constituents give him props for having a naughty bookstore zoned out of the area - not much else! Now his first big deal on the table is for a monument to the dead fetuses? You have got to be kidding me! I don't even think we have a monument to the fallen soldiers in Iraq yet. So, "private" donations are going to pay for it, but forever more, the taxpayers will have to sustain it. That's just a giant load of malarkey. With SO many more important issues affecting our people right now, there are so many other things tax dollars need to go to other than dead fetus statue maintenance fees. Only 349 of 5,353 reg. voters voted to fill Wendell's empty Dist.

POPSObama Decides To Override General Petraeus' Recommendation A network of senior military officers is also reported to be preparing to support Petraeus and Odierno by mobilising public opinion against Obama’s decision. Petraeus was visibly unhappy when he left the Oval Office, according to one of the sources. A White House staffer present at the meeting was quoted by the source as saying, “Petraeus made the mistake of thinking he was still dealing with George Bush instead of with Barack Obama.” I have no idea how reliable this IPS article is. I hope it isn’t at all. Before we get to the abandonment part, let’s stop and consider how Bush and Rumsfeld got raked over the coals for disagreeing with generals. the basis for a rapid withdrawal was always, charitably, a bad idea based on a complete misunderstanding of the situation. Or uncharitably, cynical political pandering. Maybe this guy is as dangerous some people say he is, after all.

POPSObama Stiffs His Campaign Workers This is the same guy who lets his illegal alien aunt live in squalor in a Boston slum. Obama's army of freeloaders are going to be mighty disappointed when they find out they were sold a bill of goods by the Great Gas Bag.

POPSIn Election 2008, Don't Underestimate This Voting Block He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding. He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives. The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him. The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

POPSPalin, pallin' -- what's in a name? Also from QT: Tax not what you can do . . . Jason Boskey, a Blairsville, Ga., reader, writes: "If a person is against raising taxes when the government is operating at a major deficit, isn't that a case of not supporting the troops?" It is more than that. It is a case of a deadbeat not supporting the troops.

POPSWhy Do Republicans Hate America? It's actually more like about 80% of America Palin is dismissing, because the vast majority of America's population lives in urban areas, not tiny little small towns, where prejudice and anachronisms rule. Sarah Palin is proving herself daily to be the most loathsome, most despicable type of politician; one who not only caters to false stereotypes, but who also labours to create more false stereotypes. Like America needs any more of those...

POPSIn praise of a brave woman-Nadia Hilou She won't be silenced when children are murdered. She won't be silenced when a Christian minority needs educational support. She won't be silenced when a family is in need - Christian, Muslim or Jewish. And, she won't be silenced by extremists who criticize her because she is a Palestinian working from inside the Israeli system with a mainstream Israeli party doing more than pandering to political emotions. Nadia Hilou threatens the status quo in the Arab community and especially its leadership
