POPSTips for avoiding bloodstains (not you, Lady Macbeth) Excellent advice on dealing with blood and keeping it from staining clothing and fabrics, from a discussion thread on the Post Punk Kitchen about making reusable menstrual pads. More: Organic cotton sherpa, hemp fleece, and flannel all stain very easily. I've been told bamboo is really hard to clean. If you don't mind microfleece, pads topped with micro fleece are very resistant to stains. Vinegar is a good rinse agent but it breaks down suds makes detergent less effective. Save it for final rinse to keep hemp/toweling (absorbant core middles or inserts) from getting stiff. Solid red, burgandy, navy, black, some darker purples tend to hide stains better. I stay away from all pastels, light prints.
