POPSDNA "Self Organization" the Future for Computer Technology I remember years ago reading that sci-fi book by Orson Scott Card called Xenocide. He put forth the concept that the communication between computers was "life". Well, reading this article kind of brings that concept kind of closer to becoming reality. Maybe it is just my far-fetched imagination??? More info at source.

POPSWould the Last Honest Reporter Please Turn On the Lights? http://www.ldsmag.com/ideas/081017light.html I don't get the paper anymore here because of their left leaning bias and I've told them why. The only way we can make the msm behave in a responsible way is to hit them in the pocketbook. They have a DUTY to be unbiased and they are shirking that duty to be purveyors of lies. Did anyone see the Sara Palin interview on CNN? Disgraceful!!! Just the latest from these people.

POPSOrson Card Eviscerates Democrat Hacks Who Call Themselves JOURNALISTS!!! . . . . .McCain who had voted against tightening its lending practices. Then you will print them, even though every one of those true stories will point the finger of blame at the reckless Democratic Party, which put our nation's prosperity at risk so they could feel good about helping the poor, and lay a fair share of the blame at Obama's door. You will also tell the truth about John McCain: that he tried, as a Senator, to do what it took to prevent this crisis. You will tell the truth about President Bush: that his administration tried more than once to get Congress to regulate lending in a responsible way. This was a Congress-caused crisis, beginning during the Clinton administration, with Democrats leading the way into the crisis and blocking every effort to get out of it in a timely fashion. There's much more at the link. http://www.ldsmag.com/ideas/081017light.html Orson Scott Card, by the way, is a Democrat.

POPSTop 100 Sci-Fi Short Stories. When I see a list. I know what is on the list is going to depend on who is making the list. There are some predictable ratings, but there are generally surprises. When looking at Sci-Fi fiction lists, it continues to be amazing that there are so many authors writing who were hardly recognized, but produced high quality work. Short stories are great because they can be read without like seeming like a project. They are also good for training our minds to read epics.(I've just clipped the two ends of the list.)

POPSIf you Suck at Sports, do you Suck at Life? Orson Scott Card goes on to say this about organized sports for kids: "Too much like the real world, too little like play. When I wrote silly poems, that was play. That was just flat-out fun. My parents didn't get involved and nobody yelled at the ump." He wishes that "a kid who's lousy at sports but good at music or theatre or writing or videogames should get as much encouragement and honor as any athlete. But he won't." The only time I had fun with sports was when it was just for fun. If it got competitive I left because I could think of a lot better things to get upset about. I poured myself into drama, debate, reading, videogames. Now I'm 26, married for four years, a filmmaker, and a CEO of my own company.... and I still suck at sports.
