As Economy Slows, Lenders Begin to Curb Credit Cards
jatfla
by jatfla  10-28-2008
It's about time!!!! Even after my parents "declared" bankruptcy after years of using them for medical, motor vehicle, what they considered necessities....my Mom is still receiving offers from Credit Card companies. Stop it!!! The elderly and the 20-40+ use these things like there is no tomorrow. Well, tomorrow has come. While the card-holders have a responsibility to pay their debts, so do those who *throw* cards at an irresponsible market bear major responsibility for their practices.

STOP SECRET $15 BILLION ANTI-ENERGY BILL FROM PASSING
merrie
by merrie  2-27-2008
The Senate and House have passed separate bills on energy filled with government mandates and taxes that threaten to send us back to the disastrous Jimmy Carter era of energy shortages and gas lines. Now the Liberal leaders of Congress want to meet in secret to devise one bill that is sure to take the worst sections of each and ram it through Congress without debate. October 24th article, Holman Jenkins of the Wall Street Journal pointed out that there's a glut of ethanol resulting in falling prices while the cost of production skyrockets. He points out that even $90 per barrel oil has not resulted in ethanol success without massive subsidies. Government intervention like this always produces special interest winners while the taxpayer foots the bill. Virginia Law hits Hitch hanging balls
pokkets
by pokkets  1-15-2008    3
In Virginia it is now illegal to hang 'representations' of genitalia from vehicles. A father bought about the suit because his daughter asked him to explain two 'representations' of testicles she saw hanging from a trailer hitch. I can think of a few answers, but I haven't seen pictures regarding the accuracy of the replicas. Perhaps he could have said they were round dice, The Judgment called it a safety issue because it may distract drivers. (While they're not being distracted by billboards,GPS, or on the mobile phone.) One question that struck me. How would he explain dogs? Their representations are not always just hanging from the hitch, sometimes they're on active duty. No doubt the girl will find out about sex from her friends. Why do two balls hanging from strings appear to be testicle? It's not as though there aren't a few other choices. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.?

Devil's Weed or Seventh Heaven?
thisnamecantbetaken

As it is with ALL things, they can be used, or abused. Guns, alcohol, tobacco are but a few examples. Why not just regulate marijuana the same way? How hard can it be? I'd much rather see the money spent on it go into "our" pockets in the end, than into the pockets of the drug lords. Put a tax on it or something. Let the income it would bring help cover debt and healthcare. I don't think the "War on Drugs" (*LMAO*) is winnable. Why not make it work to our advantage? Hmm.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!
ksbigbass

Submitted by LTBama from ALABAMA on 10/2/2007 8:46:00 PM This picture was taken in a creek. In a week's time some of the shad that were in the main lake have moved into the creeks and the fish are following! I removed the temperature reading to clear up the screen but the temperature has dropped 5 degrees from last week and is 76 degrees. We also have had a good east wind blowing for several days and the creek facing the east are the one where I found the shad. You don't have to have one of these high end depth finder to find these fish. Stay in the deepest water when you idle into a creek and if you don't see much then the creek probably does hold enough to stop. I'll post some pictures from my trolling motor depth finder later.

Australian scientist's ideas to save the world
n2sooners
by n2sooners  12-13-2006    9
And his ideas to reduce the population: The next most human way to reduce the population might be to put something in the water, a virus that would be specific to the human reproductive system and would make a substantial proportion of the population infertile. Perhaps a virus that would knock out the genes that produce certain hormones necessary for conception. The world's most affluent populations should be targeted first. According to the 2006 Living Planet Report, the six populations that have the biggest per capita ecological footprint live in the United Arab Emirates, the United States of America, Finland, Canada, Kuwait, and Australia.
