Mashup of the Moment: Shout Beep
DarrenTooCool
by DarrenTooCool  4-4-2007
"Ramdom Thoughts" is a fun weekly podcast, featuring some fun mash-ups. I liked this Pussycat Dolls vs. Tears for Fears. Also worth a look, James Brown vs Grandmaster Flash - Message in America (visit the site to get that one).

A highly customizable Flash player that you can easily embed in your website or blog. Plays MP3 files or RSS/XSPF playlists. This is the player used in the excellent Grazr.com OPML browser. For a quick, easy howto on using these scripts, see this blog post .

List of simple, free podcasting and audio resources
enbar
by enbar  1-15-2007
I was trolling the web for simple, free ways to make small hosted podcasts or otherwise send audio messages to my students. Here's what I came up with, plus a few related things like free conference calling.

Vonage meets Record Sage
RecordSage
by RecordSage  8-26-2006    1
Got Vonage installed today... so far so good. Customer service seems to lack tremendously in the brains department, but otherwise definite upgrade from the old Verizon line. One of the cool features they have is ability to run a piece of software on a PC that allows to call any number from the PC. They claim to have integration with Outlook, but I use Thunderbird, so the only option they described was manual entry. Why would someone enter numbers to dial into a computer instead of the phone itself every time is beyond me. So, I thought that if they had a way to run the little program via the shell interface and allow to pass a parameter (phone) - maybe I could automate it somehow with... Record Sage. That's where the customer service was totally inept in answering a simple question. After reading some online forums it turns out that one can use this program by simply highlighting a number on the screen and pressing their hotkey to call it.

My old Slawesome page
Godfrey Daniel
by Godfrey Daniel  7-8-2006    1
A few items from the page, many more at source. It's a mystery to me why they abandoned this. Very soon after they did everybody started coming out with the web2.0 lists and Slawesome was on most of them. If it was me, even if I lost interest or got busy with something else, I would have at least thrown it to an intern or something at that point, or sold it to some other developers. Why abandon a hit?

Personal voice messages
RecordSage
by RecordSage  5-23-2006    6
Before I start I want to say that this is NOT about adding ability for people to record voice-based comments. This is more about being able to send a private message to one or more clippers, but send it via voice. Maybe just do it for only one person at a time (ala Odeo). This way one could send a private message to another clipper. Later the concept could be expanded to add voice-comments just as text and be part of the comment (if made public). I realize that would involve some infrastructure changes, not to mention programming... but it would elevate Clipmarks to another level of functionality and usability.
