POPSHey America, WARS ARE STILL GOING ON!
A comment on a clip stated: “preventable deaths…how about Heart, lung disease, cancer, etc.?” Not sure what the clipper was getting at, citing these ills; calling them preventable? Anyway, it occurred to me… what about WAR; shouldn't that be at the top of this woeful list? The Bush admin, wanted WAR so badly, they started TWO! Of course, they could, 9/11, HAPPENED! (I’m still not convinced the attack occurred without a WINK & NOD.) Now 8 yrs later and still young people die because of that infamous day. We can’t blame Bush any longer, so who should bear the brunt of accountability for the bloodletting? Obama won the election, partly due to his stance against war and now he’s ratcheting up troop levels assuring its longevity? If he continues to act like Bush when it comes to WAR; He has not only misled us, he FUCKED us royally! And although I’m charmed by his eloquence, it can’t last… We, who despise war, won’t look the other way while he sends so many to die…& OVER WHAT?

POPS Now They're Delivering On Their Promises
get to positions of power. Because while you were paying your union dues and watching American Idol, they were rigging the system with ACORN and a news media that functions as nothing but a propaganda arm for the progressive state. They kept you sedated with Oprah telling you you could avoid aging by injecting estrogen into your vajayjay. Your brain had already turned into mush by the time the evening news was on, and you stared glassy-eyed at the screen while Katie Couric chirped about how everything bad was Bush’s fault. Worse yet, you believed them when they promised you free health care, free education for your kids, and free “green jobs” and they could pay for it all with other people’s money. And you went along with it, because you were so, so mad at George W. Bush because… because… because if you didn’t hate him, all your friends would think there was something wrong with you because everybody hated Bush except for stupid rednecks and Bible Thumpers . . . . . .

POPSExtruded News Nuggets For May 5, 2009: Autotune on Aisle Galt! Edition UPDATE: Even more worthless stuff has been located. * Regular guys Barack and Joe went to a DC burger joint. While the fact that Regular Joe Obama wanted "spicy mustard or something like that, or a Dijon mustard, something like that" and the fact that Andrea Mitchell didn't mention his hoity toity tastes is interesting, what's even more worrisome is Biden's order: he wanted Swiss cheese, jalapenos, and ketchup on his. All those are great, just not together. (legalinsurrection.blogspot.com/2009/05/msnbc-hides-obamas-dijon-mustard.html),

POPS Will Obama's "Re-Set" Button Win Over President Medvedev Visits by veteran politicians have been used by both sides to test the waters before Obama meets Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for the first time on April 1 in London on the eve of a G20 summit. POPSThe Left Turns on Obama as the Right Breaks Out the Popcorn Third were the inflated lectures on historic foreign policy to be made by the clumsy political novice who trashed his own country and his predecessor in the most ungracious manner overseas to a censured Saudi-run press organ . Fourth was the campaign rhetoric of Bush shredding the Constitution—FISA, Guantanamo, Patriot Act, Iraq, renditions, etc.— followed by “all that for now stays the same”. Fifth, Gibbs as press secretary is a Scott McClellan nightmare that won’t go away . Blaming Fox News for Obama’s calamities is McClellan to the core and doesn’t work. Six, Biden is being Biden. Already, he’s ridiculed the chief justice, trashed the former VP, bragged on himself ad nauseam in Bidenesque weird ways, and it’s only been two weeks. At home, Obama is becoming laughable and laying the groundwork for the greatest conservative populist reaction since the Reagan Revolution.

POPSOver Two-Hundred Economists Against The Stimulus Cato has just published a full-page ad in the New York Times with the names of some 200 economists, including some Nobel laureates and other highly respected scholars, who “do not believe that more government spending is a way to improve economic performance” — contrary to widespread claims that “Economists from across the political spectrum agree” on a massive fiscal stimulus package. Of course, many economists don’t like to sign joint statements, so this is only a fraction of stimulus opponents in the profession. Greg Mankiw pointed to a few noted skeptics last week: More government spending by Hoover and Roosevelt did not pull the United States economy out of the Great Depression in the 1930s. More government spending did not solve Japan's "lost decade" in the 1990s. Read the text of the ad in HTML with additional signers http://www.cato.org/fiscalreality

POPSObama's First Executive Order Limits Lobbyists CNN's Ed Henry reminds us that during his campaign, President Obama promised that "no political appointees in an Obama-Biden administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years. And no political appointees will be able to lobby the executive branch after leaving government service during the remainder of the administration." Expect other executive orders fairly quickly. One widely anticipated one would be the repeal of the "Mexico city rule" -- a gag order that prevents foreign clinics that receive US funding from discussing abortion with patients.

POPSPartisan Disgrace Pelosi Flips Off 9/11 Commission's Recommendations ... “Going to 13-8,” the new ratio in the House intelligence committee Pelosi announced on Tuesday, “means that she views the Intel committee the same way she views the Rules committee,” which she is ruling “with an iron fist,” Hoekstra ... Hoekstra was careful to contrast Pelosi’s attitude with the treatment he and other Republicans have received so far from president-elect Obama and the transition team. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision this week to pack the House intelligence committee with Democrats — despite a clear recommendation from the 9/11 commission to keep politics out of intelligence matters — has roiled Republicans.

POPSYet More Glad Tidings From The President-Select * Provide $50 billion to Jumpstart the Economy and Prevent 1 Million Americans from Losing Their Jobs: This relief would include a $25 billion State Growth Fund to prevent state and local cuts in health, education, housing, and heating assistance or counterproductive increases in property taxes, tolls or fees. The Obama-Biden relief plan will also include $25 billion in a Jobs and Growth Fund to prevent cutbacks in road and bridge maintenance and fund school repair - all to save more than 1 million jobs in danger of being cut. Provide Middle Class Americans Tax Relief Obama and Biden will cut income taxes by $1,000 for working families to offset the payroll tax they pay. * Provide a Tax Cut for Working Families: Obama and Biden will restore fairness to the tax code and provide 150 million workers the tax relief they need. This is “spreading the wealth around” — big time.

POPSPrediction: XXX XXX XXX Wins 281-257 From this base case (XXX XXX XXX winning with an 11 point cushion), there are a couple deviations worth mentioning, given that Virginia and Pennsylvania seem to represent the most tenuous wins for McCain. * If McCain loses Virginia (13 votes), he can still win by picking up any of the three western battlegrounds (NM, CO, or NV). Of these, at least Colorado appears plausible, so Virginia isn't necessarily a killer. * If McCain loses Pennsylvania (21 votes), he needs to pick up any two of those western states. This is a stretch, so losing Pennsylvania would appear nearly lethal. The caveat here is that McCain could lose Pennsylvania and pick up only Colorado, which would yield a 269-269 tie. * If McCain loses both Virginia and Pennsylvania, President Obama is a near mathematical certainty.

POPS Joe The Plumber Can "Spread The Wealth Around" Just Fine
Kennedy understood all this, either consciously or intuitively. But he was the last Democrat to so understand. Lyndon Johnson, who moved into the Oval Office after Dallas, never did get it. Instead, he instituted a guns-and-butter policy (escalating the Vietnam War at the same time he announced the Great Society, a welfare-based attack on America at a cost of billions), and the results were devastating. His only lasting contribution to the public good was the successful passage of historic Civil Rights legislation. That wouldn't have been possible without the support of Republicans in Congress. Ronald Reagan did, and lowered taxes because of his understanding. And so did George W. Bush, leading to the boom which ended only because liberals in Congress - Barney Frank and Chris Dodd most significantly - colluded with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to push for subprime mortgages, and we all know what happened when the recipients of such largesse couldn't afford the payments.
