POPSNRA Senators resist NRA extremes Most NRA members are not as extreme as NRA leadership; Senators of both parties who are on the NRA's A-list decided the lobby was wrong on Sotomayor.

POPSSarah Palin: NAACP Racist
It was at this point that the Secret Service was about to remove Palin, thinking she was an impostor and a threat to the President. However, she produced her NRA lifetime membership card, and the removal was halted since the threat was only deemed to be against the Republican party. Michael Musto, columnist for the "Village Voice", was covering the NAACP event and asked Palin why she thought she would be allowed to speak. "I never thought I would be allowed to speak," Palin replied, "because while the NAACP has done some good, the issue has to be addressed that they are racist. So why would they let me, a white person and a woman, speak?" Musto asked why this was? "Correct me if I'm wrong, it's the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. White is a color, but how many white people in this organization's 100 years have been members? And I'll give you one better, how many have been President? We have finally elected an African American President, so isn't it time t

POPS'I Quit the Evangelical Movement in Disgust': Former Evangelist Fears Right-Wing Lunacy Will Lead to
* Republican senators and representatives giving speeches calling on their followers to accept and work with the president in a truly loyal opposition and denouncing Dick Cheney for saying the president is making us "less safe." * Evangelical Christian and Roman Catholic leaders telling their congregations to stop believing insane Religious Right lies, like the one about Obama being a Muslim, and/or the Antichrist ... Instead, the rising tide of violence is met with silence and/or pretended horror by leaders on the right and yet even more hateful words amounting to outright provocation -- "I hope Obama fails," or, "Obama is making America less safe," or, "We regret Tiller's murder, but after all, he murdered 60,000 babies..." or, "Illegal immigrants must be stopped!" and so on. Who on the right-wing radio shows, among the Republicans in Congress and in far-right media such as Fox News, will now try to cure the sickness of their right-wing followers -- before it explodes

POPSWho needs actual freedoms when you have guns? "The real NRA nut says If the government can take our guns, then after that they can take our freedoms. "But what happened with the patriot act was the government said is No, no, no. Keep the guns, just give us the freedoms. "And they said WE GET TO KEEP THE GUNS! "If you wrapped the request in a flag, they'd line up to surrender the freedoms. They just really want the guns so that they can protect the guns."

POPSBill Moyers: "Why aren't we talking about guns?" But please, there are already some 200 million, privately owned firearms in America. Every year there are 30,000 gun deaths and in some years more than 400,000 non-fatal, gun-related assaults. The next time someone wades through a pool of blood to sidle up and champion the preservation of firearms, can't we just say, no thanks ? Enough's enough. To quote Bill Hicks, There's no connection (and you'd be a fool & a communist to make one) between having a gun & shooting someone, and not having a gun & not shooting someone.

POPSNRA’s Opponents ‘Accidently’ Vote With Them This is our representation in Congress, folks. Scared yet? This kind of embarrassment needs to be addressed. It is inexcusable. They don’t read them. They don’t know what they are voting for. They vote for things they are against…is this the best we can get? They care more about their cushy positions and paychecks than what they are tasked to do. We need to keep track of these names so we don’t ‘accidentally’ re-elect them.

POPSFirearms Salesman of the Year Since he has been elected President of the United States, firearms sales have increased, as the NRA and other Americans believe that He is a threat to the Second Amendment. Being a Constitutional Lawyer, I am sure that he would disagree. He is not only after the rights under the Second Amendment, the First seems to be bothersome to him, also. Never has a President spoke out against an individual for exercising their rights to free speech, like He has. He could be the Anti-Christ.

POPSSpecial Interest Democracy capitalism may not be the last word; democracy may not be the last word; things change--they've been ok for a while, but it's silly to think that there may not be something else around the corner

POPSThe NRA thrives on paranoia, and the rest of us will pay But the NRA is an organization built on fear, and they use that fear to pump up those shreds into nuclear threats. Watch the interview with NRA spokeswoman Rachel Parsons above, talking about how a proposal to close the gun-show loophole -- which permits hundreds, if not thousands, of transactions to occur that would be illegal in a gun shop, and lets people who are forbidden to buy guns to do so, since no background check is required. Parsons is trying to tell us that this somehow affects people's Second Amendment rights -- even though the only actual effect of this legislation she can claim is that the people who put on these gun shows couldn't afford to do so anymore, because they wouldn't be making as large of sums from them as what they're accustomed to. Of course, this has nothing to do with the Second Amendment.

POPSPointed at me! Yes, NRA. Every single one of the gun deaths in the US is YOUR fault, Men may be the ones killing, but guns make it so that any man whatsoever can kill, anonymously, from a distance, as a lark or a thrill; reducing human life to meaningless for the people seduced by the powers of the gun.

POPSHow many gun deaths are enough? ... until the NRA finally realizes the damage they are doing to America and their fellow countrymen. Every grieving mother, father, sibling and child that suffering due to unfettered access to guns should weigh on their heads until they learn their lesson.

POPS Military Ammunition Policy Rescinded ~ GOOD Special acknowledgment should go to Gary Marbut of Montana Shooting Sports Association, Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, and "The Shootist," Gordon Hutchinson. They brought this story to our attention and followed up on it throughout. It should also be noted that Senators Max Baucus and John Tester were instrumental in obtaining this reversal. NRA-ILA has posted the *senators' letter to the Defense Logistics Agency and the DLA determination that the "Agency has determined the cartridge cases could be appropriately placed in a category of government property allowing for their release for sale." http://www.nraila.org/media/PDFs/DLA.MilitaryBrass.pdf * Between that and your spreading the word like...like a grassfire, enough attention was given to this to get results. That they happened so quickly is impressive, and ought to prime us for engaging in the next challenge--and the ones after that.

POPSDear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, After that, it should be relatively easy. Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate taste. We don't like redistributive taxes so you can have those. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. And since you hate guns and you hate war, we'll take the firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. But you are going to be responsible for finding a biodiesel vehicle big enough to haul them around. We'll keep the capitalism, the greedy corporations, the pharmaceutical companies; we will keep Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have the homeless, the homeboys, the hippies and illegal aliens. We will keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, the greedy CEOS and all of the rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and we'll let you have NBC and Hollywood.
