POPSCoke in Her "coochy" This is one of the highest blogged articles this week. I guess a lot of folks just don't realize how much contraband goes into people's private parts. My sadness is that this "child" of just eighteen is so far into drugs already. THAT is the real meat of the story as I see it. So young and pretty, and such a mess. Very sad indeed.

POPS"Islam is of the devil": a Gainsville, FL church attracts controversy The photo and the pastor's comments pretty much speak for themselves. I probably wouldn't have clipped this except for the final paragraph in the clip -- "we are definitely trying to open up dialogue." This baffles me. I wonder what they're actually trying to accomplish -- presumably the primary purpose of the sign is illocutionary in nature. To the pastor, I would point out that "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are beneficial" (1 Cor. 6.12). Is this beneficial?

POPSStrategic Reserves That Go Undrilled This is so un-necessary. We have plenty of options. Solar, nuclear, wind, coal, off-shore drilling, more refineries; but there's a *cause* that will rise up and promote a reason to not proceed. When those in our northern states are freezing their buns, maybe the outcry will rise at those who are blocking every option...instead of supporting the ones we have and encouraging our potentials and possibilities. But heck! let's keep the political ball rolling about Bush/Cheney and the oil businesses and 'oh, woe is me' and continue to wallow in stagnation. That will spell progress and energy independence. s/off!

POPSKey West, Fla. Very interesting stuff about my home town I bet you never knew. I haven't been home in a couple years but last trip was one heck of a party. The fishin' is great and the scuba diving is even better, I highly reccomend this spot as a vacation getaway but beware, if you get the sand in your shoes OR drink the water you'll be back.

POPSGod likes Democratic boycott of Florida And the Lord sayeth: "Let Iowa be thy first Presidential nominating stop. Lest any State move their primary election, and they shall be smote down by my very own hand." And it was so...and Iowans everywhere rejoiced. ---The Gospel according to Bill Richardson

POPSFeral Cat population vs. City Hall These beautiful cats are facing a threat from the Gulf Breeze City Council. They live around the Gulf Breeze end of the Pensacola Bay Bridge in Northwest Florida. When the council announced that the cats would be trapped and destroyed, a few wonderful people arranged a charity fund to have the cats fixed and have their health checked. They have, so far, managed to rescue and place in adopted homes over twenty of the cats. There are still over twenty needing homes. The city council agreed to extend the deadline for these cats to August 1, 2007 when a crowd of caring cat lovers overflowed the meeting room at City Hall to show their support for the cats. The effort to save these cats can still use help from other caring cat lovers. More information is available at the website www.waysidecats.com.

POPSCQ Analyisis: Race and Gender in 2008 Presidential Election I find this analysis kind of amusing when it comes to Southern Ohio. This state has elected women to statewide office before, including a Republican attorney general. Furthermore, the Republican nominee for governor last year was a black man, J. Kenneth Blackwell. Ohio Republicans have no problem voting for either women or minorities. This sounds like another attempt by the political class to blame the potential failure of liberal politics to capture votes on such things like race and gender (see, Jesse Jackson c. 1984 and 1988).

POPSWelcome to Ave Maria, America's first Catholic town An introductory paragraph, only in America... "A FORMER marine who was raised by nuns and made a fortune selling pizza has embarked on a £230m plan to build the first town in America to be run according to strict Catholic principles."
