POPSLouisiana Tax Credits For Digital Media Computers are being used more and more in the making of all kinds of movies, not just animated films. So is there that much difference between video game design and movie design? Louisiana is well positioned to capitalize on the growing film industry in the state to help grow a digital arts community. In New Orleans, we have always had a thriving artist community working in the construction of Mardi Gras floats. Good article and great concept.

POPSBREAKING: ACORN’s New Orleans Office Raided by Louisiana Attorney General
According to NOLA.com: Attorney General Buddy Caldwell has served a search warrant at the ACORN office at 2609 Canal Street, according to Tammi Arender Herring, a spokeswoman with the office. Investigators in khaki pants and polo shirts loaded several dozen computers and other electronic items into an SUV. They are also carrying records out of the building on handcarts. The large office building sits at the corner of Dorgenois and Canal. ACORN staffers were given no notice that a search would be conducted today, Herring said. From WDAM in New Orleans: Caldwell said investigators will copy records and hard drives, then return them to ACORN. He said the original allegations of embezzlement were made last year by ACORN board members who were fired after they asked for a forensic examination of the group’s books. ACORN fired the longtime director of its Louisiana chapter last month, citing a lack of accountability. by Capitol Confidential Big Governm

POPSHurricane Katrina Pictures: K+36 The Lower Ninth
I lived in New Orleans on assignment for about five years. I was there until about two weeks before hurricane Katrina came and devastated NOLA & a vast part of the Gulf Coast. My dear friend, Michael Styborski, is a graphic artist and very talented photographer. Born and raised in NOLA, he made it his life's work to document the aftermath. Month-by-month, with his camera in hand, he explored the areas most decimated by the storm. He published a book of photos called "K+36 The Lower Ninth, dedicated to the spirit and faith of the people of the lower Ninth Ward." The title indicates that 36 months later...the devastation tragically remains. It's inexcusable!!! The book is for sale of Blurb, but if you go to the site, you can mouse over every page of the book and see the pictures for yourself. "K+36 The Lower Ninth Ward" was nominated for the "People's Choice Award." Voting ends soon. I hope it wins. After all those people have been through, and are still enduring,

POPSNew Orleans, Brad Pitt, Make Things Right! It's great that Brad Pitt is investing in making good, sustainable and affordable homes in the 9th Ward of New Orleans. Wish others would just join with him rather than wait for officials to not get it done.

POPSgo and sin no more: many have given up Facebook for lent wow- this goes on to state how facebook is taking over people's lives in a huge way- and a professor of Catholic Theology at Duke Divinity School said the church doesn't have a problem with technology as such- just it's overuse---and that the main concern is that the internet can substitute for genuine human relationships

POPSGiordano Bruno Interesting fellow ...sadly he met a painful end due to his ideas which clashed with the Church at the time.

POPSLimbaugh tops his own bigotry with this one. It's hard to believe what can come out of the mouth (butt) of Rush Limbaugh but his latest tirade is beyond belief, beyond disgusting, beyond loathsome. Yes it's very hard to believe this mindless little man could stoop so low as to praise the flood victims in Iowa, Illinois who happen to be mostly white and at the same time, condemn the Katrina victims with the same old rhetoric, innuendos and outright bigotry that the KKK type people carry in their bags of hateful garbage. Those poor hurrican victims, who happen to be mostly of color are responsible in the intolerant brain cells of Rush, for their fate. I know beyond the pale, is too weak a phrase for this criticism from a genuine butt-hole. The only bewilderment I feel of such a creep sputtering into a microphone that goes out over the airwaves is, WHY THE HELL WOULD ANYONE LISTEN TO HIS SHIT AND STILL THINK OF HIM AS A CREDIBLE BEARER OF THE TRUTH? :-? http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com

POPSRep Jefferson hearings continue The afternoon hearing in U.S. District Court is continuation of one in December at which FBI agents defended their photographing of documents they found in Jefferson's home related to various business deals he had engineered in West Africa. Jefferson's attorney Robert Trout has argued that the documents are outside the scope of the search warrant and led the government to a host of business dealings that now should be excluded from the indictment. He has also argued that Jefferson spoke to agents because he felt under duress when they knocked on his door at 7 a.m. and noted the congressman was followed to the bathroom at one point. Trout said he planned to call Jefferson to testify. The trial is scheduled for Feb. 25.
