POPSDisappointment For Onyx The next big event for Onyx and Bayer would have been if their Nexavar pill worked in non-small cell lung cancer. A clinical trial was stopped early because it had little chance of showing a survival benefit in the disease. Higher mortality was observed in a subset of patients with squamous cell cancer. It is worth noting squamous cell is the same group of lung cancer patients who cannot recieve Avastin, the targeted cancer drug from Genentech. Onyx has scheduled a conference call for tomorrow morning.
