Gravity Mysteries: What is Gravity?
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  Today 6:21 AM    4
There are still two problems with this, though. First, we have yet to find any proof of the existence of these hypothetical particles, which have been dubbed "gravitons". Secondly, when quantum field theory is applied to gravity, it is prone to give nonsensical answers to straightforward questions. "These are fundamental obstructions that need to be overcome," Seven things that don't make sense about gravity

Copernicus Burial
amateur_astonomer
by amateur_astonomer  12-29-2009
The remains of a giant of astronomy, Nicolaus Copernicus, are to be re-buried at Fromburg Cathedral in Poland. Copernicus is famous for his book: De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres), in which he put forward his heliocentric model, in which the Sun is at the center of the universe, and showing that the motions of celestial objects such as the planets, can be explained without having the Earth atin the center of the universe. This work was furthered by Galileo, Kepler, and Newton among others.

Yesterday Was A Lie View Movies Online
Katie18me
by Katie18me  12-21-2009
A groundbreaking new noir film, YESTERDAY WAS A LIE is a "fresh and stylish tale of intrigue and metaphysical darkness" (Ain't It Cool News). Award-winning writer/director saint Kerwin "offers up a magnetic force with endless repeat value" (Film Threat) that teases the boundaries of reality. Kipleigh Brown "exudes Bacall" (Slice of SciFi) as Hoyle, a girl with a sharp mind and a weakness for bourbon who finds herself on the trail of a reclusive intellectual (John Newton). But her work takes a series of sudden twists as events around her grow increasingly fragmented... disconnected... surreal. --© Official Site

"Fundamentalists" threaten Republicans and Democrats
nedhamson1
by nedhamson1  12-8-2009
This story is about GOP but same party cleansing attempt is going on in Democratic Party where competing "Progressives" are trying to dictate the "correct" position on everything. The real story is that "fundamentalism" is a political virus infecting global politics and religions. Beware of the Fundamentalist Flu it's the political pandemic that could do us all in - especially if it has its way in this week's climate talks

Newton?s theory on light and colours in the 1600s, that continues to provide the basis for theoretical physics, will be published along with a gruesome account of a 17th-century blood transfusion. A paper by Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers of the United States, will also be released on an experiment to fly his kite in a storm to prove that lightning is electricity rather than a supernatural force.

Women in the GDR by Sybille Bergemann [GDR fashion photography]
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  11-25-2009    4
The photographs of Berlin-born Sibylle Bergemann are awe-inspiring for one because of the diversity of their subject matter and second for their astonishing insights and sensitivity. Bergemann commands subjects such as fashion, reportage, photographic essays, urban and rural landscapes as well as portraits in an equally self-assured manner. At first known as a fashion photographer, she fast became noted for her photographic essays and her precise observations of hidden contexts.

Invisible hand in invisible matter. Dark matter might not exist.
dopesick
by dopesick  10-10-2009
Dr Famaey added, "If we account for our observations with a modified law of gravity, it makes perfect sense to replace the effective action of hypothetical dark matter with a force closely related to the distribution of visible matter." The implications of the new research could change some of the most widely held scientific theories about the history and expansion of the universe. Lead researcher Dr. Gianfranco Gentile at the University of Ghent concludes, "Understanding this puzzling conspiracy is probably the key to unlock the formation of galaxies and their structures." What about NASA's direct proof on dark matter's existance? Broken study? This is actually makes sense, but so far is a little hard to accept. Does anyone have any ideas about this?
