POPSBlue State Governors Cry Foul Over Health Care Bill “When asked for my support, I was assured that federal legislation would not increase costs to California or include new unfunded mandates,” Schwarzenegger wrote. “Unfortunately, under nearly every scenario we can predict, the federal health care reform legislation being debated would cost California’s General Fund an additional $3 billion to $4 billion annually.” ….. Arnold’s already looking for a bailout from Uncle Sam. They loved Porkulus, but it’s not going to help them now. The sad thing is, it’s doubtful either one of them has anything against government takeover of health care. They just don’t want it passed onto their state budgets. POPSNew Species of Cockroach Found In New York by 2 High School Students
"In their roles as "DNAHouse investigators," the pair trawled New York apartments, stores and street, collecting 217 specimens between November 2008 and March 2009. They took samples from supermarket food, the remains of an insect found in a box of fruit, a feather from a duster, dried dung and a cockroach and matched DNA sequences using the Barcode of Life Database and GenBank. The American Museum of Natural History laboratory identified 170 genetic codes, leading the researchers to identify 95 different animal species, including some that were unexpected. "A feather from a duster yielded ostrich DNA. A delicacy labeled 'sturgeon caviar' instead turned out to be from the strange-looking paddlefish. A popular Asian snack was revealed as giant flying squid. Bison DNA was found in a dog biscuit," the pair wrote on the Rockefeller University website. In fact, they found that 16 percent of food items were mislabeled, including cheeses labeled sheep's milk that were actually ma

POPSPart Two of The 9.11 Attack, The Trial in NYC Federal Court CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Giving KSM the Rights of an American Citizen is Unconscionable In a splitting the baby moment, though, in the announcement Friday will be plans to hold a military tribunal for Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, alleged to have planned the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole. So, the man who blew up New York gets a civilian trial and the guy who blew up the Cole gets a military tribunal. Perhaps Obama is banking on a jury of New Yorkers intent on hanging Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, but remember, if he goes to a jury in New York, he gets to wind his way through the system claiming he got no right to a fair trial. If we’re talking show trials, this is more and more evidence of the Obama Administration developing all the characteristics of a third world kleptocracy or totalitarian regime. http://www.redstate.com/erick/2009/11/13/khalid-sheikh-mohammed-to-be-sent-to-new-york-for-trial/

POPSUSS New York: "Strength Forged Through Sacrifice. Never Forget." At the prow - prominent and proud like the twin towers themselves - is a 19-foot-long bow stem, forged from 7.5 tons of Trade Center steel. Up from its homeport in Norfolk, Va., the ship will begin its New York odyssey with entry into the harbor about 7:30 this morning. At 8, there will be a 21-gun salute at Ground Zero. Then the New York will sail up the Hudson to the George Washington Bridge, turn around about 9:30 and dock at Pier 88, near 48th St. Along the route, thousands of New Yorkers are expected to greet their namesake. Prominent will be cops, firefighters and other responders, people who survived the conflagration and survivors of those who did not - brave souls to whom the ship is a floating memorial. For the living heroes and for 9/11 families, special privileges are due. They will have exclusive onboard visiting hours, a private reception and tickets to the shipboard commissioning ceremony Saturday.

POPSThe Government Loves Spending Your Money Health care is turning into a big game of hot potato between the states and the federal government. At least between those who acknowledge somebody actually has to pay for it. Carl Oberg contributed to this article Write to tdoheny@afphq.org

POPSThis is NOT the WORLD I KNOW!!!! The 12-foot-long ads had a blue background and three-foot-high white letters that proclaimed, "You don't have to believe in god to be a moral or ethical person." Spokeswoman Jane Everhart said American society was increasingly accepting of atheists and says President Obama even mentioned "nonbelievers" in his inaugural speech.

POPSUSS New York Sets Sail: Commissioning Ceremony in November --photos, slideshow, video
The USS New York will soon be defending freedom and combating terrorism around the globe, while also ensuring that the world never forgets the evil attacks of September 11 and the courage and strength New Yorkers showed.” This morning, the ship departed the Mississippi River to make her first journey. The ship departed from Avondale this morning at 7:00 a.m. and headed for the Gulf of Mexico. The ship’s journey has been met with fan fare, salutes, and glorious praise. Beginning with a New Orleans style farewell, the ship passed through Gretna and was met by firefighters and a police honor guard who sowed their honor and respect to those who died heroically on 9/11. As the ship continues to make its way to New York, she will be greeted by those who choose to remember and honor the nearly 5,000 who tragically lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The ship’s motto is “Strength Forged Through Sacrifice. Never Forget.” View photos-slideshow and videos at website

POPSIt's gone! So where are the scores fallen ill or even (Oh, God!) dead? What was all this hype about? It's gone! Gone! ;) And no even traces left. Last week, Dr. Anne Schuchat, the director of immunization at the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said, “Most states do have quite a lot of disease right now, and that’s unusual for this time of year.” “To say, Oh, all of us in New York are immune, we won’t have any more disease and we don’t need to take vaccine, is a dangerous conclusion to draw,” Dr. Cetron said. If some bureaucrats want to keep themselves busy, it's up to them. Only, please, not at our expense. Not at expense public well being and not at expense of our pockets. We have something else to do rather than than run in mortal panic with no possibility of hide from aggressive science-like manipulative psychological attacks.
