In December 1938, 29-year-old Winton was packing for a skiing holiday in Switzerland when his would-be holiday companion told him to come urgently to Czechoslovakia instead. Adolf Hitler's forces had occupied the country's Sudetenland, and Winton was appalled to see the conditions in which the refugees were living. In other parts of central Europe, "kindertransporten" were already evacuating children, but Czechoslovakia had no such programme. Winton immediately started raising money and organising trains to save the children, and on his return to Britain began finding homes and organising visas for them, all while holding down his day job in London. The editorial is the Vatican's latest effort to rehabilitate the reputation of Pope Pius, whose reluctance to denounce the Nazis publicly prompted accusations of anti-Semitism and earned him the title "Hitler's Pope". L'Osservatore dismissed such claims as a "radically false" characterisation of the pontiff's wartime record. It quoted Morgenthau as saying that as early as Aug 1942, the US government "knew that the Nazis were planning to exterminate all the Jews of Europe". In his diary, Morgenthau cited a telegram dated Aug 24, 1942, and passed on to the US State Department, that relayed a report of Hitler's plan to kill between 3.5 million and four million Jews, possibly using cyanide poison. L'Osservatore, which is regarded as the semi-official mouthpiece of the Holy See, reproduced a copy of the telegram. I am not jewish at all, but the horror of the holocaust should never be forgotten by anybody. What happened in these death camps is so horrible and hard to grasp, than man could even think of doing it to mankind. I especially love the Anne Frank Story which i just put up. About 3 hours in length but broken into segments so can return to watch from where left off.

After they received promises of help from the U.S. Third Army, they stormed the watchtowers and killed the remaining guards using arms they had been collecting since 1942. The Americans, who reached Buchenwald on April 11, liberated 21,000 prisoners. Extermination was the goal of the death camps, where the "inferior people," especially Jews, Gypsies, Slavs, Soviets, and anyone else who was not an "Aryan" according to the contemporary Nazi race terminology, were forced. Over three million of the six million European and Soviet Jews died there, as well as four million Russians and hundreds of thousands of other Soviet peoples (out of the total 27 million who perished in WWII), approximately 200,000 Gypsies, as well as Serbs, Poles and others.

Like many I had heard about it but never really looked into it or studied it until recently, and ashamed now i waited. Once i began studying it and watching videos from everyplace I could get one I could not obtain enough. Papers also show, Prescott Bush was a director and shareholder of a number of companies involved with Thyssen, Germany’s most powerful industrial family, and with I.G.
