12 Hilarious Tombstones
revenantdm
by revenantdm  4-9-2009    1
Another list from Oddee.com. The people who put this site together have a definite eye for the strange and unusual... Obviously, there should be some Rules about Dying: 1. If you know you are dying and have a name that will cause people to laugh and have their pics taken with your stone, change your name! 2. If you have a Wife AND a Mistress, make sure there is no way they will ever be able to pay you back. 3. Leaving A Funny Epitaph is good, leaving a tombstone that will label you DUMBASS is not so good. 4. If you want to leave a in a hilarious, yet tragic death: go for the hilarious. You will be remembered longer and liked more. 5. If you really want to stand out as a memorable person in the memorial sort of way, hire a poet to write a fitting epitaph and then die in the way specified.. 6. Most of all, remember this: Paybacks are a B*TCH, So treat your heirs or at least the person who will arrange for your final monument well, if not YOU too, can have a marker like the

More facts, not profit inducing hype
gemfemfox
by gemfemfox  4-3-2009
The article goes on to give concrete examples of the damage "free trade" has caused us. This "recession" is happening for two reasons: 1-the government's greed and acquiessence to banking industry because of tax revenues & campaign/lobby contributions. And, the gutting of our wealth producing industries. For god's sake, go through your pantries and pull out only the goods that state MADE, PRODUCED or MANUFACTURED in America. If the label says "distributed", call the company and ask WHERE it was processed. You will be shocked. Now realize that China is quietly amping up prices and re-valuing the yuan. All the "cost savings" from off shoring will soon be for naught. And, we no longer have the machinery, equipment or government regulation (lack of) to re-create the industry.

Report Spotlights Iraq Rebuilding Blunders
ratilfar
by ratilfar  12-13-2008    2
In one passage, for example, former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell is quoted as saying that in the months after the 2003 invasion, the Defense Department “kept inventing numbers of Iraqi security forces — the number would jump 20,000 a week! ‘We now have 80,000, we now have 100,000, we now have 120,000.’ ” Mr. Powell’s assertion that the Pentagon inflated the number of competent Iraqi security forces is backed up by Lt. Gen. Ricardo S. Sanchez, the former commander of ground troops in Iraq, and L. Paul Bremer III, the top civilian administrator until an Iraqi government took over in June 2004.

EPA Refuses to Cut Ethanol Requirements
Kelika
by Kelika  8-10-2008
"Response to the decision fell along predictable lines: The Environmental Working Group's director of government affairs, Sandra Schubert, called the mandate "misguided" and said it was "forcing farmers to plow up marginal land and wildlife habitat while increasing global warming and dumping toxic fertilizers and pesticides into our precious water sources." "America should be focusing on viable clean energy solutions like conservation, solar and wind," she said. The president of the Biotechnology Industry Organization, Jim Greenwood, said the decision sent "a strong message that we must continue moving forward toward sustainable production of advanced biofuels" to cut dependence on important oil and to increase biofuel production from non-food sources. His organization represents biotech companies, among others involved in expanding the use of biofuels.""

You'll be sorry how he's used ya; you'll be sorry how he's used ya, Chris you'll be sorry when he screws ya, but you dupes keep marching on. Mine eyes have seen the New York Times as it descends to naught; The liberal pup who inherited it all has driven it to aught. This murderer of the Old Gray Dame's a spoiled and stupid snot; But this dupe keeps marching on. You'll be sorry how he's used ya; you'll be sorry how he's used ya, You'll be so sorry when he screws ya, but you dupes keep marching on. Mine eyes have seen these cattle as they kneel and meekly moo; They're hooves are trampling out our votes uncaring what they do. Where once there was some honesty there's now no news that's true; But these dupes keep marching on. You'll be sorry how he's used ya; you'll be sorry how he's used ya, You'll be so sorry when he screws ya, but you dupes keep marching on. Russ Vaughn

"Lest we Forget" The Big H in slow motion.
righthand
by righthand  3-11-2008
"America's shoe in, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, has seemingly borrowed his predecessor Kofi Annan's two word lexicon (“concern” and “regret”) and announced his “concern” at the situation. That, only after he had spoken of Israel's threat from home made rockets, fired by the resistance, before verbally tiptoeing round Gaza's threat from weapons of mass destruction fired by the land baggers. Jordan's King Addullah did better, citing Israel's “state terrorism, in violation of all international covenants”, with his acting Foreign Minister, Nasser Judah, demanding a halt to the carnage and slamming Israel's violation of “international law”. Rogue states, as Israel, America and Britain, however, care naught for international law, the former two countries stolen and settled on the blood and beloved land of others and Britain, over centuries having plundered and culled across a swathe of the entire globe with impunity. ...  The Australian Prime Minister's worst dreams were realised when his months of hoping that Labor's national conference would be a showcase of all the worst aspects of the ALP came to naught on the weekend. He had been hoping they would implode and had been pressing Labor's super-sensitive spot on uranium, the exposed raw nerve of an unfinished, three-decade-long factional argument.
