POPSSpending Godless Money As Americans evolve to reject religion and the ranks of atheism, agnosticism, and secular humanism continue to grow stronger, we may eventually achieve an enlightened government; one that supports the separation of state and church; one that respects the rights of individuals. Until then however, let's just keep on spending that "godless" money…. I don't know if this is legal or not, I just find it an interesting way to protest. Such a little circle, peaceful and quiet, yet the message it sends is loud and clear. Has anyone ever seen one of these bills?

POPSWealth on Health The report by healthcare analysts Dr Foster found that 12 trusts are putting patients at serious risk because of life-threatening errors and 'systemic' safety failings - even though eight of them were praised as 'good' or 'excellent' by the Care Quality Commission health watchdog only last month. It also found that 27 trusts - a fifth of the total - have unusually high death rates - equating to almost 5,000 excess deaths. More than half of the 27 are supposedly elite foundation trusts. The joint-tenth-worst, Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre, is said by Dr Foster to have a death rate 15 per cent higher than the national average. Yet its chief executive, Julian Hartley, saw his pay rise by 32 per cent from £125,000 to £165,000 when his trust attained foundation status in December 2007. He has now left to join South Manchester, another of the least-safe trusts on the list.

Here is a big thank you--for professing to care so much about our servicemen and women in Iraq by failing to supply sufficient body armor and betraying veterans by cutting health benefits. It's a crying shame; for sure.

A man would have held a press conference and announced it and defended his stand. He is in Asia instead. The media vetted Joe the Plumber better than the man who is now president.

I tried to reach the mayor for comment - but he declined to speak with me, his press secretary Paul Rose told me. No one has asked Dellums to disclose anything that any other politician in the same set of circumstances wouldn't be asked to explain. If he cannot provide a public explanation for a controversy that has become another national embarrassment for this city, it's difficult to see how continuing in his current position is going to be good for anyone - either him or Oakland's citizens.
