In addition, the fake group managed to secure space at the prestigious National Press Club to host a "press conference" announcing its change in climate change position, according to the real Chamber. Several reporters were in attendance, I'm told, unaware that this was all a big joke. The event would have gone off without a hitch except for the fact that an actual Chamber spokesman was tipped off to the shenanigans and moved quickly to break it up. A reporter interested in covering what she thought was a real event inadvertently showed up at the Chamber's office on H Street instead of the press club. UPDATE: A source close to the infamous pranksters, The Yes Men, claims that the group was behind today's hoax and will be sending along a press release and video shortly. Stay tuned!

They're just bad apples, see, and she's working to "turn this thing around." But what of the ACORN affiliates under investigation in multiple states for voter fraud? What of the Rathkes themselves? POPSJournalist Threatened For Exposing Cover-Ups The crash of TWA 800 was blamed on a mysterious mechanical malfunction, the Oklahoma City bombing is blamed on a domestic ‘right-wing’ terrorist group, and 9/11 is blamed on al Qaeda. There is a handful of people who believe the true causes behind these have been covered up and they have been labeled conspiracy nuts. Five-time Emmy Award winner investigative reporter Peter Lance is disputing the official findings on all three cases. Lance represents the type of reporter most people would like to see more of but, I fear, have come to expect much less of from main stream media. He brings up some tough questions such as how al-Qaeda agents were able to prepare terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, even while some of them were under surveillance here and abroad by various U.S. government agencies. Could it simply be due to lack of exchange of information between government agencies? We all know this is happens far too often.
