POPSPatrick “Patches” Kennedy is calling somebody else a “joke”? "During the famous “traditional Easter weekend” in Palm Beach in 1991, Patches and Teddy ducked out of St. Edwards and walked down to Chuck & Harold’s on Royal Poinciana Way." "It was 11:45 a.m. I saw the bar tab. In a half-hour, Teddy quaffed three Bloody Marys and Patches had three Long Island iced teas. This is not long after he’d gotten out of a detox center for his cocaine addiction, and he’s slopping down five-shot drinks, before noon. He’s never been all there."

POPSHonesty Came To O'Reilly's "No" Spin Zone Today. Imagine, a wee little bit of honesty coming to Fox (News?). The "No" Spin Zone with its host, BallyHooey Bill-O, who wouldn’t know honesty if it ran up and hit him over the head, (which the intellectually witty Jon Stewart virtually did) welcomed Jon Stewart on February 3, 2010. Wow! The mental contrast of bright and dull, between the two, almost seems unfair to imbalanced O’Reilly. But believe it or not it was somewhat entertaining if you could overlook the childish name calling from O'Reilly. He is so use to his Romper Room Tactics that he would not be able to get through a day without them. Hats Off To Jon Stewart The Most Trusted Wit On TV!

POPSHave we Lost our minds.
Last night the last season of the TV show, Lost, began. Maybe I should give it a view, I thought. Something to watch while waiting for the John Stewart show. But - No. I tuned in long enough to see a woman disappear in a dark cave, aJapanese-like samauri trying to raise the dead and a man dragging around several bodies while having a rather cavalier conversation with one of the killers -- who was complaining about being tricked into doing the murder. "His last words," the man mocked, "were: 'I don't understand.'" I think I would like a TV series called: Found, rather than Lost. I recently heard that the USA population is losing it's memory. This is not a surprise, pretty much of a 'pop psychology,' point of view -- but I was surprised to hear it from an actual scientist....um, well, hear it from a guy dressed in a white coat, (at least.} This show typified that. Scenes were like two minute clips stolen from someplace else, incoherent like pieces of a puzzle with no big

POPSStop The Spending Binge Petition...Please Sign
On behalf of all taxpayers, small businesses and future generations, we urge you to support an amendment to the U.S. Constitution mandating that Congress balance the federal budget. Add your name to the petition by completing the form on the right. Read the full letter to Members of the United States Senate and House of Representatives The federal government’s Ponzi Scheme on the Potomac endangers America’s already-beleaguered economic health and imperils the basic freedoms of American working families. Leaders in both parties have irresponsibly run up debt. And, since President Obama took office, the debt crisis has grown exponentially worse. The facts tell the story. The average American household now carries over half-a-million dollars in Federal debt. And it’s growing quickly: The Obama administration is now predicting that the federal budget deficit will exceed $10 trillion through 2019. Meanwhile, some economists are predicting that in about 15 years,

POPSWe're executing Gitmo prisoners and calling it "Suicide" "Scott Horton doesn't ask another pertinent question -- whether it is feasible that the three men died as a result of "enhanced interrogations" that went too far, or whether they were deliberately murdered. The panic that greeted the arrival of the corpses at the clinic on that dreadful day suggests the former, but on reflection it seems unlikely that three accidental deaths could occur in such a short space of time. As Guantánamo takes on a new name -- the Death Camp -- these doubts need to be addressed one way or another."

POPSMoveOn.org Email: "Emergency Campaign" It's clear voters still want real change"but are disappointed with Washington's failure to deliver. A poll of Massachusetts voters shows just that: 82% of Obama supporters who voted for Brown support the public option, as do 86% of Obama voters who stayed home. 57% of Obama voters who stayed home on Tuesday support the Senate health care bill or think it doesn't go far enough. And of Obama voters who cast a ballot for Brown, nearly half (49%) support the Senate bill or think it does not go far enough. Just 11% think it goes too far. Democrats could take the election's message to heart and redouble their efforts for real change. Instead, too many, including the president, are shrinking back. But even with one less Democrat in the Senate, they've got more than enough votes to finish reform. Through a process called "budget reconciliation," they only need 51 votes to pass a bill, not 60.

POPSHow the English Viewed the French in the 12th Century The French were cheese-eating surrender monkeys even back in the 12th century. More from the article: "Written between 1180 and 1194, a century after the Norman Conquest united England and Normandy against a common enemy in France, the 396-line poem was part of a propaganda war between London and Paris. Poet Andrew de Coutances, an Anglo-Norman cleric, describes the French as godless, arrogant and lazy dogs. Even more stingingly, he accuses French people of being cowardly, and calls them heretics and rapists. It has taken David Crouch, a professor of medieval history at Hull University, months to complete the translation of what is one of the earliest examples of anti-French diatribe. The poem was written at a time when Philip II of France was launching repeated attacks on Normandy, taking advantage of in-fighting within the English royal family. "

POPSA Revolution in Massachusetts: BREAKING: Brown Takes Lead 48-47 Red Mass Group
cleverly fading into Brown himself calling for tax cuts now. Of course, this suggestive but transparent campaign ad simply torments the Massachusetts Dems. To be reminded that their beloved Camelot was ruled by a king whose tax cuts and athletic national security attitude aligned him more with Ronald Reagan than with his own younger brother has driven the Dems mad. But the independents and hardcore Republicans, in retreat and fending off despair for the last three decades, are now coming out of their gloomy seclusion, pushing Brown's polling numbers to within single digits. Brown's less obvious but more vital message to Massachusetts voters concerns his vote to kill national health care. This would not be just an ideological stance, be it in support of free markets, individual choice, or the size of government. It would be a pragmatic vote, protecting the blossoming biotech industry, extensive teaching hospital network .....

POPSBlackwater, now known as Xe The United States has no need for mercenary soldiers. Identifying mercenaries as private contractors is the same as calling pirates privateers. A corporate culture of privatization for profit has no place in war by the worlds single superpower. We have lost our honor, our pride, and our respect for law. The name change doesn't give this bunch of killers respectability.

POPSDemise of news barons is just a Marxist fantasy One of the problems with professional journalism these days is that it operates using attacks based on assumed personal motivation (ad hominem argument or name calling), rather than on the basis of open facts. The fact that a professor of journalism should argue in this way augers poorly for the future of the 'profession'. For one who started life as an old fashioned newspaperman without the benefit of schools of journalism, I can only say that the quality of journalism has fallen since it achieved the status of a profession, rather than as a craft learned on the job. We learned values, too, not just a list of 'ethics'. Citizen journalists are doing just that, learning on the job. More power to them, (and less to Murdoch 'professionals').

POPS Anatomy of a Shakedown by Charles Krauthammer But such dreams never die. The raid on the Western treasuries is on again, but today with a new rationale to fit current ideological fashion. With socialism dead, the gigantic heist is now proposed as a sacred service of the newest religion: environmentalism. One of the major goals of the Copenhagen climate summit is another NIEO shakedown: the transfer of hundreds of billions from the industrial West to the Third World to save the planet by, for example, planting green industries in the tristes tropiques . Politically it's an idea of genius, engaging at once every left-wing erogenous zone: rich man's guilt, post-colonial guilt, environmental guilt. But the idea of shaking down the industrial democracies in the name of the environment thrives not just in the refined internationalist precincts of Copenhagen. It thrives on the national scale too.

POPSThe Environmental Shakedown I love the Dr. He brings all the pieces together to show why we're where we are today. When the call began (whenever?) to "Get the US out of the UN & the UN out of the US", it should have been heeded. Corruption abounds and it's tentacles are in every continent. Wonder what the final conclusion was on the UN member who committed "suicide" by "jumping" from one it's top floors?

POPSClimategate Gaining Traction in Liberal Media - Even in New Jersey I recently heard a New York radio broadcaster, whose name I won't reveal because I appear on his show now and then, mislabeling CO₂ as "soot." The column goes on to quote a Princeton physics professor, William Happer: In Happer's opinion, the carbon-control movement is really a population-control movement. He traces it back through the "Population Bomb" movement of the late 1960s all the way to the 18th-century writings of Thomas Malthus. Other scientists have said the same, but Happer says it the loudest. He terms the IPCC crowd a "religious cult" and says, "Disagreeing with them is like going to Saudi Arabia and criticizing Muhammad." As for the media, we've been guilty of putting our faith in the carbon cult as well, he said. By running the Politico column and the op-ed column today, the paper has finally turned the heat up on the climate elites, ending the three week-long deep freeze.

POPS"Teabagger" The term Teabagger is not very PC. Then again it would appear that most people have become less concerned with civility, and more concerned with the egocentric need to discover new terms with which to degrade and dehumanize one another. Sad that they have politicized what was once just common civility, even referring to it as POLITICAL correctness, to a point that now there is an anti-civility movement growing by adults who prefer to maintain the ignorant childishness of name-calling and incivility by invoking that it is merely exercising free speech. Of course free speech entitles us to say whatever we want, even when it is hateful, but treating others, even those with whom you disagree, with human dignity does not take away free speech, nor should this somehow be equated with communism or naziism unless one also would liken the Bible to communist doctrine. Matthew 7:12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you... one of many verses. Be civil people.

POPSWell....so what if Bush had done that?
Of course it's hard to draw any kind of comparisons when speaking about the war in Afghanistan, because George W. Bush knew how to act as Commander In Chief when it came to making decisions about what his hand-picked generals were requesting. Barack Obama on the other hand doesn't know how to act as Commander In Chief when it comes to commanding the military. There is no way to forget the daily shellacking that George W. Bush took during his entire presidency. On some days and on some issues it could get pretty horrific. The far-left fringe were relentless in their attacks and the media just fell right in line with them....and anyone was just plain dumb if they didn't believe what they were saying. George W. Bush couldn't smile without there being an ulterior motive behind it. Bush was so many things, from dumb and lazy, to a liar and conniver and even believed to be a criminal at times. No one would dream of calling Obama any kind of name....except maybe socialist. Which in some ci
