CBS and NBC Skip Hasan's Ominous 'We Love Death More Than You Love Life'
merrie
by merrie  11-11-2009    1
Brian Ross reported: The Washington Post reported today that Hasan presented this PowerPoint presentation at Walter Reed hospital in 2007, saying: “It's getting harder and harder for Muslims in the service to morally justify being in a military that seems constantly engaged against fellow Muslims.” Under comments, he wrote: “We love death more than you love life.” And his conclusion was that Muslim soldiers be given the option of being released from the military, as conscientious objectors, to decrease what he called “adverse events.” Bob Orr, on the CBS Evening News: There were reasons to worry. Hasan received poor performance reviews at Walter Reed, frequently criticized the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and in June, 2007, Hasan gave a shocking presentation to colleagues. Using slides, Hasan argued forcing Muslim soldiers to fight wars in Muslim countries puts them “at risk to hurting/killing believers unjustly” and he ominously warned of “adverse events." .....

Obama's 'Peace for Our Time' ~ He's A Piece Alright
merrie
by merrie  6-5-2009    3
Lest anyone doubt Obama's determination to appease Islam, consider the fact that on Monday, the day before his departure, American Islamic convert Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad shot two young military recruiters in Arkansas, murdering Pvt. William Long -- and Obama initially offered no official comment. Contrast that to the killing the previous day of George Tiller, infamous for murdering thousands of babies just prior to birth. Within hours of that incident, Obama served up an official statement of "shock and outrage." Obama's Attorney General also dispatched U.S. Marshals to protect "appropriate people and facilities around the nation." But law enforcement resources have not been dispatched to protect recruiting centers (even though hundreds of those have been attacked in recent years), nor is Obama sending Marshals to protect synagogues, after last month's arrest of four Islamists who planned to bomb Jewish houses of worship in New York.

Iran ----- 1, West ----- 0
merrie
by merrie  1-14-2009    2
. . . . . of the majority Sunni world – provide military and financial support to Iran’s former arch enemies – Sunnis – in the form of aiding Hamas in its attacks on Israel from Gaza. Iran has preyed on the grassroots sympathy that is growing in all sectors of the Muslim world. With growing unanimity, the “cause” of the Muslim civilians in Gaza, decimated by Israeli counter-attacks, is gathering a huge political anger in the local Arab citizenry, bolstered by footage and photographs of dead children, destroyed Mosques, hospitals and schools (even a United Nations facility) and rolling Israeli tanks, place and troops. The shameful fact that Hamas hides behind civilian targets to launch their rockets into Israel is regrettably lost in translation. Iran has managed to foment a wedge between local average Arabs and their leaders in major regional powers, particularly in Egypt.

Radical Imam: Somalis Leaving Minnesota For Jihad
merrie
by merrie  12-19-2008    3
Shaba says he and his three teenage sons attended a program two months ago at Abubaker As-Saddique Islamic Center, where a former Somali warrior sat in a circle with other young people and delivered a passionate recitation of his experiences during the Somali civil war. When the brainwashing is done and the teachers are confident students will do anything asked of them, the teachers give them tazkia, or clearance, to get more specialized training in the United States or abroad, Shaba says. "The people who trained us encouraged us to not get married, to sever our ties with our families, so that when the mission comes we won't worry about family." Shaba says similar activities occur at Minnesota Da'wah Institute in St. Paul, another mosque. Sheik Mahamud Hassan, the institute's imam, says nothing like that is happening as his mosque. "It's liars," he says. "I'm not missing any members."

Major survey challenges Western perceptions of Islam
dakotayii
by dakotayii  3-6-2008
"Religion is an important part of life for the overwhelming majority of Muslims, and if it were indeed the driver for radicalisation, this would be a serious issue." But the study, which Gallup says surveyed a sample equivalent to 90 percent of the world's Muslims, showed that widespread religiosity "does not translate into widespread support for terrorism," said Mogahed, director of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies. About 93 percent of the world's 1.3 billion Muslims are moderates and only seven percent are politically radical, according to the poll, based on more than 50,000 interviews. In majority Muslim countries, overwhelming majorities said religion was a very important part of their lives -- 99 percent in Indonesia, 98 percent in Egypt, 95 percent in Pakistan. But only seven percent of the billion Muslims surveyed -- the radicals -- condoned the attacks on the United States in 2001, the poll showed.

Failed suicide bomber turns on al Qaeda
bmman89
by bmman89  9-14-2007    4
This mother fucker joined Al Qaeda to KILL AMERICANS!!!!. Then he didn't die in the blast so now its not his fault.?!?!?! But the Iraqi officials just took him back home to Saudi Arabia where most of these freedom fighters are from to "re-educate him" that means teach him how to die the next time. They don't want to stop the violence. The Iraqis,Saudis (their Governments) or our great Commander in Chief DW "I went to Iraq with Saudi men because jihad is a duty for every Muslim," he said. "I went to Iraq to fight the jihad and kill Americans." He was hoping to take up arms against Americans, but said he never envisioned himself as a suicide bomber. After his truck bomb exploded, al Shayea was captured and paraded on Iraqi TV. Burned and bandaged, he was blamed for the death of 12 bystanders. He confessed.

Saniora: Arab states don't want to wipe Israel off the map
gingembre
by gingembre  5-11-2007    3
There is great wisdom in Saniora's statement "peace in the Middle East would offer a gateway to reconciliation with the Muslim world during these times of increased divisiveness and radicalism". It is encouraging to hear from him that Arabs want to live in peace with Israel, not wipe them off the map.

"Moderate" vs. "radical" Muslims
enbar
by enbar  11-29-2006    10
An interesting Gallup poll, one that is very difficult to interpret. Suggests that many of the most often-cited explanations for Islamic radicalism are invalid -- neither religion, nor economic situation, nor view of the West seems to differentiate radicals from moderates.
