In an investigation last year, The Associated Press found that Comcast in some cases hindered file sharing by subscribers who used BitTorrent. The findings, first reported Oct. 19, confirmed claims by users who also noticed interference with other file-sharing applications. Do you block access to peer-to-peer applications like BitTorrent? Odlyzko is the ex AT&T Labs researcher who, in 1998, became one of the first to point out that demand for bandwidth was growing at a much slower pace than many were touting, foreshadowing the bursting of the bandwidth bubble. His conclusion: there's no cause for panic.. Kudos to the NYT's Steve Lohr for finding the perfect source to offer some perspective on the rather alarmist headlines generated by the study earlier this month.
