All leftist progressive policy positions are ultimately intended to enhance the power of progressive statists at the expense of personal freedom; the only exception being the freedom to gratify oneself sexually without consequences. Are conservatives greedy? Yeah, some are, but not nearly as greedy as progressives, and not to the point where selfishness and greed are at the root of conservative politics. People argue that tax cuts are greedy, but the real motivation is to stimulate economic activity (which benefits everyone) and limit government power (starve the beast). Conservatives want to reduce and limit government power; which is an unselfish position for a political movement. The desire to have power over others, to force them to adopt your lifestyle, force them to live by your values… that is ultimate selfishness. That is progressive liberalism.

The hypocrisy here is that the government is forcing these land owners to give up their property for a monument to people who gave their lives protecting US freedoms. Why the heavy-handed action when most are willing to work out a deal? I am all for honoring these victims of fate who did more than just sit in their seats and take it. They are heroes of the highest degree. Monuments are a place of pride, a physical presence where family members can mourn, remember, and actually feel they are connecting with the spirits of their loved ones. But somehow a chunk of marble just doesn’t seem to be enough of a tribute. Before long fast food restaurants and stands selling trinkets will only trivialize their memory. And how many people will visit it? How long will anyone remember? Couldn’t that $58 million be better spent elsewhere, like maybe as settlement to the victims families for our ‘caring’ governments’ lack of motivation to prevent it from happening in the first place?

(Continued From thinkingblue.blogspot.com) But that is not what is happening; the O'Reillys and Limbaughs are fomenting and stirring up hatred towards anyone who does not think or believe like they supposedly do. And if you don't believe like they do, then you will be punished. I enjoy freedom of speech but there really is something wrong with our laws when one single nut, who has unlimited access to the airwaves can promote "lynchings" of sort. (They know what they are doing and are joyful when their hate mongering produces murder.) I am deeply saddened to think there is no way we can put a stop to this. Because of this madness, I believe, there will be more killings. Maybe there's a magic number that when reached, a voice of reason will step forward and say “ENOUGH!”. I ponder that number, is it 10, 15, 200 or a 1000. A thousand doctors, lawyers or anyone who respects the law, murdered before “we the people” who live in this society can and will say ENOUGH!
