Obama's Plan to Solve Housing Crisis
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  2-18-2009
President Obama continues to impress and impress. This $75-billion dollars was initially given to the Bush Administration and was going to wind up in the hands of big banks, Wall Street speculators and credit card companies. Now the money will actually go to reduce mortage rates of millions of homes in threat of foreclosure. And banks that specifically help do this will get some cash. And incredible Feudal Age bankrupcy laws that only favored the Lord of the Mannor will not be available to people who own only their one home and live in that home who were previously excluded from this legal recourse. It's truly incrdible to see such common sense and well targeted actions from government. Under the Bush Administration bank TEN TIMES this amount was given to big banks, Wall St. speculators, etc. with no rules for them to do anything. Will some folks complain? Sure. Republicans, and those who resent people on the street getting aid. Efforts to prevent abuses look good. H

Poor People Are Fat and A Nation of Whiners
onlinedesign
by onlinedesign  7-20-2008
Progressive thinking from dinosaurs? Gramm's views have not changed since the 1970's. Where are the stats? What are the solutions? Last time I looked, name calling never actually solved anything. Labling groups of impoverished people and witty adjectives for their plight might make a magazine cover, but in reality it does not make a bad situation any better. The "Al Gore Syndrome" at work agian. Talk, Talk, Talk...soluntions implemented = NONE. Perhaps he'll win the Nobel Peace Prize for his insults and remarkable discovery that "Poor People Are Fat". Pehaps if they stopped whining about us being a "Nation of Whiners" and actually started "doing" the right thing for the "Poor, Fat People" - we could get along towards a solution for the US, and Worldwide, crisis. Roll up your sleeves, Boys, and actually DO something already, will ya!!!

Dealing with this Liar Loan Tale first hand
missmartini
by missmartini  4-24-2008
I am sure a lot of people out there are also dealing with this. I have not seen anyone really write about it on a personal level because (1) it's embarrassing (2) people feel swindled (3) there is a lot of shame in losing a home. We have not lost our childhood home yet but it is a possibility. Mama Martini is excitable. She falls for these things. She is not stupid or anything like that, she is a little ill-informed. She's also a bandwagoner. I love her to death but Mama Martini has no one to reel her in anymore. Papa Martini was the one to do that and now, he's no longer here. We (the Martini sibs) had a sit down with her and my brother was so angry at the people who convinced her that using our childhood home as collateral for another one was a good idea. So, here it is. From Slate, an article that finally addresses the other side - the side that people who have been swindled feel. Thank goodness. I was wondering when this was going to happen. Hopefully, we don't lose th
