Patients First is calling Pelosi’s bluff: In response to CSPAN’s request that cameras be allowed to capture the happenings of the House-Senate conference on health care, Speaker Pelosi responded that “there has never been a more open process.” Yet, she won’t let cameras in"in spite of President Obama’s promise that the negotiations would indeed be aired on CSPAN. Therefore, Patients First, A Project of Americans for Prosperity, will launch a website tomorrow: www.letthecamerasin.com. The Facebook page is already up and running and by tomorrow morning, people will be able to visit the website and sign a petition to demand that the health care legislative process be even more “open” by allowing Americans to see what is happening. (http://www.facebook.com/letthecamerasin?v=wall) Make them walk the transparency walk. Let the cameras in. *** Allahpundit’s got video clips a plenty. http://bit.ly/5eALWl

POPSUpdate: Dead Mount Hood Climber Succumbed to Hypothermia 2:35 p.m . Eight searchers who climbed the mountain this morning just returned on skis to Timberline's Wy'East Day Lodge. The searchers, all members of the Hood River-based Crag Rats, were in two areas: Illumination Saddle and south of Crater Rock. “We didn’t see anything,” said Tom Scully. With snow dripping off his boots, Scully said weather conditions were “pretty good,” but deteriorated in the afternoon. “We had to get off there pretty fast,” Scully said. 11:45 a.m. About a half-dozen members of the Air Force Reserve’s 304th Rescue Squadron are preparing to load into a Sno-Cat " a specially-designed vehicle that can travel on snow and ice " to be carried up to higher elevations on the mountain. A Blackhawk helicopter continues to hover over the top of Mount Hood. But a deputy with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said this does not indicate that the chopper has found anything. “It’s just what they do,” the deputy said.

POPSThe Waste Land - San Francisco's roving recyclers
More: One man, tall and strong with sharp eyes and long dreadlocks…Mute, he pulls a scrap of paper out of his cart and starts writing… “What school?” Berkeley, I say, impressed and somewhat embarrassed that he can tell so quickly my status. “Why here?” he jots. I try to explain. “You’re not too smart,” he concludes, pointing at my thin sweater and shivering hands… Then he offers me the red down coat he is wearing and goes back to work. As I walk around the cardboard boxes that contain the recyclables…I see bits of his scribbled conversations with others. “Temper is going Everyone’s under $ pressure,” reads one…“Me, I don’t sweat the cash too much,” reads another. I return to ask for the paper on which we’d just had our conversation. He looks at me skeptically. “You’re a bad journalist,” he writes. “No tape recorder.” Then he hands over the paper and smiles. I asked for his name, but he holds his forefinger to his sealed lips, then turns and goes back to

POPSSomething to think about…. 45 minutes: The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32. 1 hour: He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition. No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100. This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people’s priorities.

POPSSee the angel beside you More: He thanked me as we landed, for helping him. I imagine he thought I was his angel for those two flights, but as we went our separate ways after landing in Chicago and I watched him walk away, I knew he was mine, instead. This week, be an angel for someone. Let them be an angel for you, a stepping stone forward into their week. And know that sometimes the angel you need is the one who needs you. And sometimes, just sometimes, they are already right beside you for the trip. (All the tests were negative, I found out a week later).

POPSJeff Galloway: Benefits of running twice a day More: Two-a-Day Principles. If you try two-a-days, keep these seven guidelines in mind: 1. Separate your workouts by at least 2 hours; 4 hours is even better. 2. Be sure your first run of the day is very easy. Save any speed sessions for later in the day. 3. Don't divide your long run into two shorter runs. Continue to do your long run all at once-that's what makes it a long run. 4. Warm up for your second run of the day, as you did for your first. 5. If you're training for a race, at the end of your morning run do three to six accelerations of 50 to 100 meters each (walk or jog 100 meters in between to recover). Run them at your race pace. 6. Eat breakfast (or a high-carbohydrate snack) within 30 minutes of finishing your morning run. 7. Increase your mileage by no more than 1 mile per run. If you increase your weekly mileage more than 3 weeks in a row, don't raise your total by more than 10 percent a week.

POPSMen's Bogs Waterproof Bogs boots for men
Bogs Boots for men, (by the way, they are also available for women) provide water proof foot protection in all kinds of situations. Whether it be hunting in the marsh lands with our camo Bogs Style 350325. Or working with the Bogs Tall Tradesman Mt in the fishing industries. We have got you covered. Bogs Boots offer water proof protection for hard working men and shorter boots for those who just want to keep dry in their daily commute to work or around a wet yard. They are great for walking through the morning dew and not gettin' your socks wet. And cities that get a lot of wet weather, Bogs come through again. If you are looking for comfort, Bogs boots are for you. Remember the days of those old rubber boots with no padding. My feet still hurt from the waffle pattern of the hard rubber soles covered by a flimsy insole. After standing all night on a water turn, I could not walk the next day. But now in my bogs, I feel like I have had on my quality leather work boots.

POPSWe made them millions, and they complain about insurance Medical insurance is the most important issue for us this year. They're talking of increasing the hours needed to qualify for health benefits. That is what we're trying to avoid. I just have a few years left until I can retire. I'm lost my health at the hotel, and all they think about is money. We made them millions of dollars, and they complain about paying insurance.

POPSSunday Talk Muddles Obama's Message
Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner and chief economic adviser Lawrence H. Summers managed to convey that the president was not ruling out a middle-class tax increase. That evidently was not what the White House had in mind. On Monday, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs bluntly fielded reporters' repeated questions about the tax remarks. "Let me be precise," Mr. Gibbs said. "The president's clear commitment is not to raise taxes on those making less than $250,000 a year." Last Sunday, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told CNN that a government-run alternative to private health insurance was "not the essential element" of the administration's health care plan. The president's liberal Democratic allies perceived her comments as a clear sign that the White House was preparing to concede defeat on a crucial part of his plan. Not so, Mr. Gibbs said the next day, blaming the confusion on the media. He argued that a taxpayer-funded public health plan . . .
