POPS Then There’s The Iran Bit Reidel led the Obama Administration’s strategy review of Afghanistan and Pakistan earlier this year. But he’s also worried about Iran. “It’s clear that U.S.-Iranian relations now are going to go into an increasingly difficult period,” Reidel said. “If I was sitting in Teheran, I’d be looking for the place where you could hurt the Americans the most and that’s Obama’s war right next door in Afghanistan.” Remember that Chicagoland speech in The Untouchables? “He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue.” Not exactly the community-organizing Chicago way, I know … Anyway, another nuance overlooked in the complex AfPakInd picture painted by the AP’s Reid today. It isn’t just a war about al-Qaeda, or the Taliban, or Pakistan or India. It’s a war about Iran, too. A lot like Iraq that way. jules crittenden

POPSOpen-door morgue leaves bodies up for grabs more: ''It's been going on for years and it's appalling, but the health department told us not to complain to the hospital because they could make things worse for us,'' Mr Stewart said. At other hospitals, undertakers were required to submit detailed paperwork at the medical records office before being escorted to the mortuary by a porter and monitored by a morgue attendant while they removed the body.

POPSObama the Uniter and Post-Partisan an Abject Fraud Pt.II
It's like they're channeling Sean Connery in The Untouchables: "They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way!" Obama actually did say this on June 14, 2008: WSJ: Obama - 'If They Bring a Knife to the Fight, We Bring a Gun' This is a reckless and dangerous escalation of the conflict. It raises the stakes to where one fractious event could cause things to quickly spiral out of control. It actually increases the chances of such an event occurring, as someone who's been given the finger by his own government figures he has nothing left to lose. And once that Rubicon gets crossed, it may be impossible to go back. A president with real experience and real leadership skills would know better than this. But all Obama has to fall back on is his rabble-rousing, radical Marxist street thug past. Excuse me, I meant "community organizing." http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/president-of-some-of-the-people/

POPSUnclaimed dead stack up in Wayne County morgue Things like this truly sadden me, I don't blame people for not claiming them. As is stated ""Some people really have to make a choice of putting food on the table or burying their loved ones." What is really to blame is this crash/ recession which was engineered by the banks as it was in 1929. To think that they caused people to even have considered that decision is criminal.

POPSWhat Really happened with MJ Its amazing to me that with all the health care issues that are being depated in the United States as of late and that most americans are struggleing to keep their health care bills under control. That someone so prominent as Michael Jackson.being under the care of a well known health care specialist by his side end up in the morgue ?

POPSCSI Myths: The Shaky Science Behind Forensics It will take years to fully reconcile the rigors of the scientific method with the needs and processes of the judicial system. But in the meantime, questionable forensic science will continue to tip the scales of justice. And when bad decisions are made in the courtroom, an innocent person’s entire life can be swept right out from under him.

POPSDeath Toll Apparently Far Exceeds Government Claims
The three hospitals are located along the routes of the major demonstrations where government forces opened fire on demonstrators. There are also several other major hospitals along the routes that could have received the dead and injured on that day. “Despite official obfuscation and denials, reliable information is accumulating suggesting that hundreds of protesters were slaughtered during the demonstrations,” stated Aaron Rhodes, a spokesperson for the Campaign. “It thus appears that large numbers of those assumed to have been held in undisclosed locations and in incommunicado detention may be dead. “ “If this is the case, history will judge these events not as ‘excessive use of force’, but as a massacre,” he said. Families seeking information about missing relatives have reported being shown collections containing “hundreds” of photographs of the dead that have been assembled by the authorities for identification purposes, and some have reported

POPSFamily of Dead Son Told To Pay $3,000 As A "Bullet Fee"
His father, Yousef, first called his fiancée and friends. No one had heard from him. At the crack of dawn, his father began searching at police stations, then hospitals and then the morgue. Upon learning of his son's death, the elder Mr. Alipour was told the family had to pay an equivalent of $3,000 as a "bullet fee""a fee for the bullet used by security forces"before taking the body back, relatives said. Mr. Alipour told officials that his entire possessions wouldn't amount to $3,000, arguing they should waive the fee because he is a veteran of the Iran-Iraq war. According to relatives, morgue officials finally agreed, but demanded that the family do no funeral or burial in Tehran. Kaveh Alipour's body was quietly transported to the city of Rasht, where there is family. "He was so full of life. He had so many dreams," said Arsalan, a taxi driver who has known the family for 10 years. "What did he die for?" Write to Farnaz Fassihi at farnaz.fassihi@wsj.com

POPSA Story Of Rape, Shame, And Honor Killing "At the employee's insistence, lab workers using freshly acquired DNA-testing equipment drew a sample from the fetus. The prison guards were ordered to submit DNA samples and did so, apparently unaware of the sophistication of the morgue equipment and the people trained to use it. The DNA results showed that the father of the unborn baby was a police lieutenant colonel who reportedly supervised guards at the prison. In another society, the scientific evidence would have led to arrests and prosecution. But this being Iraq, the power wielded by men in uniform and the belief that a raped woman is better off dead combined to cloud the truth."

POPSWarning: Unsanitised US photos of Gaza. Pretty tame, really! My selection of the 34 photos, as the majority only promote the 'Israeli Defence Force' military that massacre the children and civilians of Gaza. Photos in the great US media tradition of being total bias against the Arabs and the democratically elected Hamas. You might expect that after Iraq and the WMD proportionate lies that the penny might drop and they'd learn a little. Obviously being bottle fed and in-bed-with the Zionist makes life a lot more comfortable than risking being 'accidentally' killed by a regretful Zionist bullet. Murdering Americans or reporters is no big deal for the Zionists. USS Liberty gives the cue that dead Americans gains you allies and dollars!!!

POPSDay 9 of the War, Sunday, January 4, 2009
The daughter-in-law arrived at the family's home an hour before the bombing. When Nizar Riyan saw that she arrived, he laughed and asked her, "why did you come, do you want to die as a "shihada" (a martyr)?" Of course, she answered in the affirmative. A bit later, Riyan and his children swapped jokes about death and martyrdom. Riyan complained that his children aren't prepared to die with him, yet the stated they were prepared. "We will live together, or die together", his children said. His youngest son said that he wassn't willing to live without his father, so he also wanted to die a martyr like is father, and enter paradise in the afterlife. Afterwards, some of his children said that the bodies of the casualties are taken to the morgue and kept in a freezer. "I want to be buried right after I'm killed, so I can go straight to heaven", said Riyan. Afterwards, his daughter-in-law left the house, and the house was bombed by the IAF, killing Riyan and his family.

POPSNeeded: A Black Elton John "When I came out, I had an extraordinary set of parents who didn't give a crap and loved me, and I was never told I was going to hell," said Spearman, who grew up in the Washington, D.C., area, and came out at 17. "They had a sense of God that was larger than a chapter in Leviticus." "It would help if somebody major came out, but it would have to be somebody that sort of goes against all stereotypes," Spearman said. "There'd have to be some shock and awe, and then people would have to get used to it."

POPSWriter's Digest 101 Best Sites Awards for 2008 There was NO way I was going to try and clip all of these sites but they are ALL worthwhile to any beginning writer or even a journeyman writer who has been out of the game for a while. I did not even go through the entire list but chose bits and pieces from the first half or so. Many say that there is no way that a writer can be discovered or get free advice. Here is some free advice. Enter Contests. Enter EVERY Contest you are eligible for. Wjen you look on the list and see the Horror Writer's Association link (Horror.org) I want you to know that this last Halloween, I found out just a half-hour before the deadline that a contest was running. I found an old story, dusted it off and entered it with 15 minutes to spare. I won. 1st Prize. My story was eventually printed in Rue Morgue magazine and now I am writing for a publisher under contract! Who'd a thunk it?

POPSRue Morgue: Horror Writer's Dream Rue Morgue is the last magazine that is in hard copy being printed today in the US. Their e-zine sight is ok but it holds nothing to the mag itself. To get your short fiction published here as a horror writer is a very wonderful occasion... One I hope to jave again one day!
