POPSASCII Pronunciation Rules for Programmers Asterisk is also called Nathan Hale (mentioned) and here's why: Nathan Hale n. An asterisk (see also splat, ASCII). Oh, you want an etymology? Notionally, from "I regret that I have only one asterisk for my country!", a misquote of the famous remark uttered by Nathan Hale just before he was hanged. Hale was a (failed) spy for the rebels in the American War of Independence. from http://www.elsewhere.org/jargon/jargon.html#Nathan%20Hale

POPSAbe Lincoln's Antiwar Record Manipulation of statements and facts is an old trick when it comes to partisan politics. Obviously the situation has become worse than ever. Partisans have learned their lessons well as to how to make things appear as they wish them to, no matter who they have to misquote or what situation they have to lie about. I wish I could say that the Bush team invented these tactics, but the best I can do is to say that they perfected them.

POPSI'm a geek too! CNet includes my comments on clipmarks. I'd say "working with" rather than "working at" - a slight misquote ;) I met Eric G a few weeks back and got so excited about Clipmarks that I've been spending thursdays here in the office, brainstorming about how I can help build the clipmarks community and spread the word.
