POPSMercury and Autism The controversy rages on. A recent study said that because the mercury levels found in people's blood with and without autism were basically the same, there was no link. But, as this clip suggests, the place to be testing mercury levels isn't in the blood, but in the tissue.

POPSCarrie Prejean’s Attorney Responds to ‘Inaccurate and Misleading’ Rumors If you just read what those on on the left, particularly the gay left, and in their MSM echo chamber said about Carrie Prejean without hearing the beauty queen’s actual words, you might have thought she had slandered gays, saying that the reason “homosexuals” weren’t worthy of state-sanctioned married was because we were perverts, incapable of relationship. I'm gay, and I don't believe she smeared me. or the gay community. Ratilfarts is an idiot. What the hell he knows is beyond me. Don't listen to that dumbass. Prejean just articulated how she defined marriage — which is how all societies have defined the institution since time immemorial, by gender difference.* By the way ratilfart, you are a pig.

POPSFraudulent "Smart Choices" food labeling program crumbles As NaturalNews previously reported (http://www.naturalnews.com/027077_n...), the fraudulent Smart Choices food labeling program was being led by a Tufts University dean named Dr. Eileen Kennedy, a woman who continues to insist that sugary breakfast cereals made with 40% sugar, artificial coloring chemicals and partially-hydrogenated oils are really, really healthy for kids! (Eat more!) To paraphrase her view, they're smart choices because they are "better than a donut."

POPSRepublicans Hit Poll Bottom, again The withering slide in support for Republicans continues, now down to 19-20% in this latest poll. (Only our corrosive and toxic media might make it seem otherwise). The party deserves to be driven into extinction, due to misleading nations into a false war based on deliberate lies, endorsing the use of torture, violating civil and Constitutional rights, and for being nothing more than a Smear Machine trying to win votes based on fear and hate. The new president (despite the ceaseless rabble and rabid critics) continues to also live up to his campaign promises and has set the nation back on the right track in many important ways. The "Dark Side," is losing; as it should. GOP elephants going extinct. 80% of the nation turned off to their drivel.

POPS“Robert Reich, Death Panel Aficionado” What was truly sick about this whole thing was how the young people cheered the news that the older generation would be cut off from health care treatments (for them and others to reap the rewards). One has to wonder, if government controlled health care was so bad only 2 years ago, why is it all of a sudden a good thing now? To what lengths will these people go to hide the truth today regarding something they rightfully shunned not long ago? How far will these cretins in the Political Industrial Complex go in saying whatever it takes to gain power? When will they be honest to the American people, as Reich claims he was being in 2007? POPSCanadian Doctor Shares True Pros & Cons of Canadian Health Care
Canadian doctor Michael M. Rachlis shares the truth about the Canadian Health Care system in hopes of dissolving propaganda and confusion. The Los Angeles Times posted and Op-Ed article by Canadian doctor Michael M. Rachlis. The whole thing is well worth a read and will provide a much better understanding of not only the Canadian health care system, but that of the U.S. as well. There's been a vast debate regarding a public option in the U.S. and most of it seems to be based on misinformation and fear tactics. Unfortunately, there's been a shortage of informed opinions and solid facts. I think it would be a good idea of many people who enjoy the benefit of universal health care in other countries would come forth and share their experiences. With the vast number of uninsured Americans, and the fact that insurance companies can and do deny coverage on a very arbitrary basis, there seems to be a need of some kind of major overhaul to the American health care system.

POPSMere Sound and Fury Until Harry and Nancy Do Their Thing in The Dark
Half of it will come from massive cuts in Medicare Advantage, while the other half will be generated by new taxes on high-end insurance, higher income taxes, and new levies on drugs and innovative medical devices. We will address these additional yellow flags on this page on Tuesday in Part 2. There is another reason why the CBO's preliminary analysis should be taken with a grain of salt, though this one wasn't mentioned in the report. Whatever the content of the Baucus bill once it is voted out of the finance committee, it will disappear into a legislative black hole as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and their key aides do what they did on the economic stimulus package back in February -- huddle together behind closed doors to write the final bill, which will then be presented as a fait accompli in the form of a conference report. Everything else is mere sound and fury signifying nothing until Harry and Nancy do their thing in the dark.

POPS Attack of the Living Front Groups
A front group typically has some, but not necessarily all, of the following characteristics: Avoids mentioning its main sources of funding. Note that this does not necessarily mean absolute concealment of sponsorship. Some front groups go to great lengths to conceal their origins, funders and personnel links to sponsors. Has a misleading, feel-good name that disguises its real agenda, such as the National Wetlands Coalition, which opposed policies to protect U.S. wetlands, or Citizens for a Free Kuwait, which purported to represent U.S. citizens but was actually funded almost entirely by the royal family of Kuwait. Sometimes the name of a front group might seem to suggest academic or political neutrality ("Consumers' Research," "American Policy Center"), while in fact it consistently turns out opinions, research, surveys, reports, polls and other declarations that benefit the interests of a company, industry or political candidate. POPSA post by @steverubel helps me clarify my thoughts on bound/unbound media.
All spokes and no hub - I love that. It's also one of the truest, most insightful, and accurate statements I've read in a while. The destination web is dying - at least for content producers. I think I have pounded this drum before but I think it's a point that needs pounding. The following is cut from an email exchange I had recently (in relation to this article) - it outlines a misreading that I think most legacy publishers are caught in the throes of - namely the misreading of the bound to unbound media shift as a print to digital shift: ---------------- Thinking of the transition that's underway as a shift from print to digital is dangerously misleading. This is more than a simple shift in output technology - it's a slow yet dramatic rewiring of the information ecology in such a way that the previous command and control model becomes less effective and less profitable with each passing day. In order to combat that traditional media companies should re-frame the transit

POPSIran Insists on Nuclear Rights
Last week Iran told the UN's IAEA that it has a nuclear enrichment plant under construction (with no nuclear material in it and over a year away from being operational). That's the fact. Iran telling this info was all properly done in accord with the IAEA, the NPT, and the U.N. terms it has signed onto. Note: Some nations, like Israel and India, have nukes but haven't signed these agreements...so just signing onto these agreements is the first step in "trying to do the right thing." But major Western powers and Israel have jumped all over this -- go to war with Iran are now once again the raging headlines -- just like misleading nations into the War in Iraq based on unfounded speculation now the drums of war call for a War in Iran based on unfounded speculation - fabrication - distortions - manipulation. Ah...for the good old days...when we went to war because something actually happen. (Or, at least, it was presented that way) -- tsk, tsk.) More Dying for Lies on th

POPSMedicare and Gag Orders "Meanwhile, we have the case of the Association for the Advancement of Retired Persons (AARP), and its fanciful Medicare claims. The self-styled seniors lobby is using all its money and influence to cheer on ObamaCare, even though polls show that most retired persons oppose it. AARP has spent millions of dollars on its TV ad campaign and bulletins and newsletters to its members, including eight million direct-mail letters over Labor Day. The AARP Web site claims that it is a "myth" that "health care reform will hurt Medicare," while it is a "fact" that "none of the health care reform proposals being considered by Congress will cut Medicare benefits or increase your out-of-pocket costs."

POPSGOP Lawmakers Protest Gag Orders on Cuts To Medicare Advantage
Medicare Advantage plans, the private insurance plans offered under Medicare, the government program for the elderly and disabled, are targets for cuts in heath care overhaul legislation because they cost more, per beneficiary, than traditional Medicare. On Friday, CMS said it was examining whether Humana violated Medicare marketing rules or other federal laws, and asked the company to shut down a Web site that helped beneficiaries generate letters to lawmakers opposing the cuts, and to stop sending letters to beneficiaries enlisting their support in the fight. The agency sent a letter on Monday to all plans, warning them not to send letters about the proposed cuts and called the effort misleading to beneficiaries. The action came at the urging of Democratic Sen. Max Baucus of Montana, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee , who has proposed Medicare Advantage cuts that are estimated at $123 billion over 10 years as part of his health overhaul legislation.

POPSIn Denial About Financial Reform Also see Dan Indiviglio over at The Atlantic: http://business.theatlantic.com/2009/09/why_is_washington_ignoring_the_real_causes_of_the_crisis.php The danger of putting a lawyer in charge of something like this is, in my opinion, best exemplified by Neil Barofsky, the attorney they put in front of TARP oversight. Barofsky has used his pulpit to put out some really meaningless and misleading numbers. We need real information from these guys, not noisy innumerate numbers. POPSFox News Kangaroo Court - Guilty till proven guilty Please sign petition to Congress to help stop the destruction of ACORN (in case you are not familiar with this acronym it means Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.) Main goal is to help the marginalized and the underdogs. The privi...leged snot-noses who were able to dupe a few underprivileged employees in this organization just to attain some sort of recognition and glory for themselves is pitiful. Now the Congress wants to pull the rug out from under all the good work they do. It makes no sense. But the Glenn Becks are so happy that the poor and forgotten will remain poor and forgotten. POPSRA in Moscow Times:Clan Politics of Russia, Venezuela, and Iran the leaders of these three countries regularly employ the powers of the state in support of clan-controlled businesses, especially in the energy and arms sectors. When Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin travels to Venezuela (he visits Caracas with extraordinary frequency), there is little to no separation between his diplomatic duties and personal financial interests in inking deals between Rosneft and PDVSA. When the Iranians travel to Caracas, they are given a red carpet welcome to jointly operated factories and the assistance of elaborate money-laundering networks. Chavez's family and close-knit clan of loyal military officers have become multibillionaires under his rule. Known as the boligarchs, they benefit directly from the alliance of Russia and Iran since it lends much-needed credibility and legitimacy to their plunder of the country.

POPSYou Can Praise Him but DO NOT Oppose Him
The one was on the air again last night giving yet another speech on his plans to socialize as much of America as possible. When one freshman congressman had about all he could stand he blurted out: "you lie" and the attacks came fast and furious. No the attacks were not focused on the "LIAR" but on the one who outed him. Rep. Wilson who was sent to Washington D.C. to be the voice of his constituency back home was only saying what so many of us were yelling at the top of our lungs as well. "YOU LIE" in fact the whole speech was full of misleading and false statements. One thing was clear though, if you want to give his highness a STANDING OVATION you are more than welcome to interrupt him, but DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO not oppose 'the one' because that will not be tolerated in the hallowed halls of the joint house. Rep. Wilson you need not apologize to anyone for me. In fact I want to stand and applaud you for standing up and saying what we back home hav

POPSUnremarkable - Rep. Boustany and the GOP Response Frankly, Rep. Boustany had no business being in the health care spotlight, despite his status as a heart surgeon. The Louisiana Republican mimicked the same tired & misleading arguments the GOP has made in the past related to the costs of the anticipated legislation. Most misleading, though, was Boustany's assertion that the proposals supported by Democrats amounts to, "Replacing your family’s current health care with government-run health care..." But, nobody's talking about doing that. His general message was that we can't afford reform and that we should approach it from another angle, but this is disingenuous. It was a passive-aggressive and cynical message, suggesting an awareness of the need for reform, but in a different way and at a different time. As Boustany put it, "we need to start over." Don't believe it.
