POPSHamas Children's Show Discusses Severing Hands.... We surely have different cultures and this explains a lot and is foreboding for the future in the area. The last comment is probably applauded by some. :~( Teaching children to kill. How sad is that? Americans can get in trouble for spanking.

POPSMickey Mouse-opatamia: Disneyland comes to Baghdad
But, just like in a Disney fairy tale, the souls of these dead animals will inhabit the bodies of the cartoon characters who will serve as ushers and greeters at the thrilling new "Baghdad Zoo and Entertainment Experience." The $525 million project, says C3's owner, "will be managed by the Iraqis" (ha, ha, that's a good one, just like the oil fields) and the "experience" will be "culturally sensitive" (ha, ha, that's an even better one). Even though there's no running water in parts of Baghdad, the electricity is sparse at best, and suicide bombers are still killing an average of 100 civilians a week, this will, in the words of C3's director, be a welcome sight to Iraqis. He told the London Times, "The people need this kind of positive influence. It's going to have a huge psychological impact." Another big supporter of the Disney "experience" is Bush lapdog, General David Petraeus, who said Baghdad was otherwise "lacking in entertainment." If this weren't all so predictably ha

POPSEwww. Come on people! What are you doing to these kids? Ok, so I posted a comment about Miley Cyrus but not because she was being sexy but because she looked dead in that photo and Michael K had me cracking up. Anyway, this was on Slate, and it is pretty frickin' creepy. What are these people doing to these kids? We sit here and talk about protecting children but this is what is out there all over the world. Sorry, I know, there is a lot more going on in the world that I am paying attention to, I just do not post it. But this is gross.

POPSReturn to old-fashioned play I have had many conversations about how children playing has changed..even from when I was a kid. But it could have been economics as well...we made up all sorts of games like fort or things where we just had to make rules up and improvise the "weapons" or what have you with little or no supervision. here is an interesting story on NPR about "old-fashioned" child's play and how it builds life skills.

POPS NFL Broadcast Controversy Under Senate Scrutiny As it is right now, the biggest losers in this dispute are the NFL and its fans. While the league loses massive revenue, the fans, which are all too willing to provide it, are becoming more and more disgruntled. The NFL is not considering its fans here. They are obviously thinking of things from a strictly business standpoint. But what they seem to forget is that die-hard NFL fans are going to subscribe to their Network regardless of any minimal extra cost imposed by the cable companies. The League ought to at least consider getting their foot in the door. Who knows, in time, as the channel’s ratings grow (and that is sure to happen), it could possibly then be moved to a regular line-up much like the Outdoor Channel (broadcasted by Time Warner) was recently moved from the sports tier to the regular line-up.

POPSMickey Mouse Suicide The strips are from mid-October 1930. At that time, suicide jokes were common in cartoons and comic strips. These would never go over today, which makes you wonder - were they more callous back then or are we too sensitive today?

POPSAhem, uh, should we tell them? Honestly, I don't even know what to think of it. Part of me wants to laugh, but there's some little child deep inside me, and I think he may be crying. ;)

POPSWhat Bush Means by Conducting Foreign Policy
Is it any wonder that former Mexican President Vicente Fox told Larry King Live last Tuesday evening that he and President Bush had agreed to "create a new regional currency in the Americas." Fox was asked by a listener what he felt about the possibility of having a Latin America united with one currency. According to the CNN transcript obtained by WND, "Fox answered in the affirmative, indicating it was a long-term plan. He admitted he and President Bush had agreed to pursue the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas—a free trade zone extending throughout the Western Hemisphere, suggesting part of the plan was to institute eventually a regional currency." Is there anyone who cannot see what Bush is doing? Because of Bush's plan to merge the U.S. into a North American Community, he is determined to grant illegal aliens amnesty, and he is willing to demand that illegal aliens who rape and murder American citizens must be turned over to a "world court." -according to this source.
