POPSWhat was your fav tech of the last decade? You don't have to think back 10 years to see how much technology has changed. Just look back in this last year or that last couple of months. Some of my favorite technology was from 10 years ago. Anyone remember the commodore 64 with its ability to hook directly to your video player and TV. I had an instant wedding video business! POPSYou Can't Have A Picnic Without Ants. “Don’t feed the troll” Simple and surefire rule. Trolls feed on your reactions. Ignore them. Put comments under moderation. This way you can approve or disapprove of inappropriate comments. Don’t be overly sensitive just because they go against what you stood for. Debate is healthy. Ban them. If you have persistent trolls, you might just want to block them. This way they will not be able to wreck havoc as they please. If you remove a post, aren't you preventing free speech? Discussion boards are by design a forum for open communication, a place where the community is encouraged to freely discuss its opinions. Only remove troll posts when they become disruptive to open communication. A troll is actually silencing the voice of a majority of the community members. Ask the troll to take their comments elsewhere.

POPSProfile Of A Cyber Stalker
Cyberstalkers may research individuals to feed their obsessions and curiosity. Conversely, the acts of cyberstalkers may become more intense, such as repeatedly instant messaging their targets. More commonly they will post defamatory or derogatory statements about their stalking target on web pages, message boards and in guest books designed to get a reaction or response from their victim, thereby initiating contact. In some cases, they have been known to create fake blogs in the name of the victim containing defamatory or pornographic content. When prosecuted, many stalkers have unsuccessfully attempted to justify their behavior based on their use of public forums, as opposed to direct contact. Once they get a reaction from the victim, they will typically attempt to track or follow the victim's internet activity. Classic cyberstalking behavior includes the tracing of the victim's IP address in an attempt to verify their home or place of employment. A 2007 study, led

POPSCreate a free forum I used this tool a while ago to Create a website/forum for a friend about Yu-Gi-Oh! and picked up a lot of knowledge on how they operate their limitations and capabilities etc. The site got up to about 50-60 members before He got bored of it and just let the site decay, (He was only 16.) but I found it incredibly easy to use and quite intuitive, with many customization options and discovered it to be a lot of fun seeing a site you created taking shape and gaining members.

POPSBill O'Reilly's Argument For Abolishing Freedom Of The Press This is a man who has his own TV show and millions of viewers to whom he can peddle dangerous ideas like "outside agencies" that have power over the press. It is nearly impossible to go a day without hearing him besmirch the media as a bastion of hate that poses a very real risk to society. O’Reilly represents the sort of mindless hostility that is being spread throughout the mediasphere. And it isn't just O'Reilly. It is Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Michael Savage, etc. It would be tempting to ask what can be done about these freaks. But that would just be adopting their response that promotes censorship and suppression. The real question is how do we educate the people who watch and listen to this garbage? How do we replace sensationalistic ranting with honest and deliberative discourse? And how do we do it before it erupts into (more) violence?

POPSChina blocks internet sites, services ahead of Tiananmen anniversary
This is not unexpected. The Tiananmen demonstration anniversary is June 4 and Twitter messages were encouraging people to wear white, the color of mourning, until they were suddenly blocked. For the Chinese authorities to go through this much trouble to suppress the exchange of all other non-related ideas and thoughts just to prevent anything concerning the Tiananmen Square ordeal from getting through illustrates the Chinese authorities distrust of the Chinese people. This action reminds the rest of the world just how repressive China is and for the US government to encourage its citizens to support China through trade with them while demanding, pleading for, suggesting, whimpering about, giving up on human rights reform is irresponsible. It is so futile to hang on to old ways of thought and mind control. The internet has already been let out of the box and to suppress it in this manner just illustrates how old school these people are.
