POPSExercise Not Proved to Help Dementia Both of the remaining studies were small and only included Alzheimer disease patients. One looked at 11 patients; the other examined 134 but many of those didn't complete the exercise regimens. However, the researchers in the latter study found that those who did exercise seemed to do better at handling the tasks of daily living.

POPSThe Costs of Trying to Save without Thinking Higher medical and hospitalization costs, lost wages, homelessness and even incarceration of mentally ill patients account for the potential increase in cost, Fleeter concluded. About 45,000 people on Medicaid could be directly affected, the study said. Other studies concluded that three of four schizophrenics suffer a relapse when switching drugs, often resulting in hospitalization, homelessness or violence and incarceration.

POPSObama, Conyers epitomize Arrogance in Pants.
Thanks Joan for posting this...The Centrist thing of Obama's was inevitable, it seems, as he panders to the sheeple. WASHINGTON -- Former White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove won't testify next week before a House committee investigating the prosecution of former Gov. Don Siegelman, despite a threat of a contempt proceeding. Rove is exerting executive privilege and declined the invitation to appear before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, his attorney Robert Luskin wrote to the House panel Tuesday. A lawsuit is pending in federal court in Washington over whether top White House officials can be compelled to testify before Congress, he wrote. The Judiciary Committee has been seeking Rove's testimony since April, and committee Chairman Rep. John Con- yers, D-Mich., said in a response letter sent Thursday that he was "disappointed" with Rove's decision. It seems Conyers has lost his balls somewhere...won't Impeach, when it's the only thing to stop Cheney/Bush, and

POPSThe Urge To End It All "Quite inadvertently, the British gas conversion proved that the incidence of suicide across an entire society could be radically reduced, upending the conventional wisdom about suicide in the process. At least a partial answer is that many of those Britons who asphyxiated themselves did so impulsively. In a moment of deep despair or rage or sadness, they turned to what was easy and quick and deadly — “the execution chamber in everyone’s kitchen,” as one psychologist described it — and that instrument allowed little time for second thoughts. Remove it, and the process slowed down; it allowed time for the dark passion to pass."

POPSObama Shifts on Abortion Another disappointment , really. Obama's not a doctor -- and it shows. By making a distinction between "mental distress" and "a serious physical issue," he makes the far too common mistake of discounting mental illness -- like depression -- as a "real" and damaging illness. What he should do is leave the medical stuff alone and think like a lawyer -- which he is. Is there a reason to limit a woman's choices at a certain stage of pregnancy and, if so, what are they? Arguing from a position of ignorance is never a good idea.

POPSMental health services neglect of dignity alright hopefully this will stir people into action mental health is highly stigmatised probably due to its past It still begs for a lot of improvement its seems to me psychiatrists are taken as infallible, while other aspects of life and treatment are ignored other than the purely intellectual analytical scientific standpoint I know its improving but it has a long way to go people need to wake up from their routine and the status quo and be more caring

POPSwoman dies at hosp - nobody gives a f%#k "In reponse to the damning video and the other claims, the hospital says it is increasing staffing and bringing in new protocols, including that patients in the emergency room have to be checked every 15 minutes." yeah...one protocol that should never be asked is CARE for others.
