Some of our foods are poisons!
aklimento
by aklimento  8-11-2009    5
This subject will always be actual. It's our life, after all. Modifying old sentence, we are eating to live, not to suffer from what we eat. And drink. So, better check what you eat and especially how you feed your kids; not force them to pay for our mistakes and our inaction toward crooks, making living on our health. There are many bizarre theories in food and medical science to be revised and as soon as we start to do that as better. How many troubles can be prevented! First of all it is the notion that we can safely eat artificial food, practically plastic. We are not! We cannot be healthier neither with synthetic food, nor with chemical medicines. Even naturally occurred remedies have to be applied carefully. Chemical "revolution" of past century in relation to our life and health is over. One more remark. Please note, that not all toxins are poisons and most dangerous stuff in our food not toxins, which are produced by some microbes, but man made poisons, added there by stu

Desperate Times Don't Call for Spam
spirithiker
by spirithiker  12-6-2008
The cheap food argument can be debunked by scanning your local grocery store ads for prices of different cuts of meat that are cheaper per pound than Spam. The cheapest alternatives involve cooking, often (brace yourself!) from scratch. But hey, if you can’t afford to go to the movies, why not hang out in the kitchen and make some great food? Cooking at home is almost always cheaper than eating out and usually cheaper than most store-bought canned food. Buy veggies locally when they are at their peak and dry, freeze or can them. Eat less meat, but buy the good stuff from a local farmer. Use the stems of vegetables and save what you don't eat to make a vegetable stock for soup. Buy large quantities of grains and beans, it is not only cheaper but it involves a fraction of the packaging. In the end, what we can’t afford is to keep degrading our environment, our health and our local economies in the name of cheap food.

Animals strick back
aklimento
by aklimento  8-24-2008    4
I cannot forget terrible odor spreading around slaughter plant on I-10 and the border of Texas and New Mexico. Thousands of poor, trembling cows are standing in a mix of dirt and manure, knowing for sure their fate already. That's how the meat becoming a poison. Cruel and unusual treatment of anybody, even animals before their slaughter, cannot go unpunished. This is the rule of life and we would never escape it, regardless if it from God or the Nature.
