POPSMcSweeney's: 39 Questions for Charlie Daniels About "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" *snicker* Every time I hear the song I have to remind myself that by the terms of the song Johnny's playing really is better than the Devil's, because c'mon now... ;-) It's like the way that authors should avoid describing characters as being "the greatest poet who ever lived", because then they have to try to write poetry that good. And most of 'em can't. (Example, from Anne McCaffrey's Dragonsong :"Don’t leave me alone! / The cry in the night / Of anguish heart-striking / Of soul-killing fright / O live for my living / Or else I must die / Don’t leave me alone! / A world heard that cry." I'm sorry, but even when I was 14 I thought that was cheesy...)
