POPSMacDonalds to Power Manila Police Cars I converted my truck to run on WVO (waste vegetable oil), and have put over 1000 miles on it so far. With a quality conversion and proper operation, it is as reliable as diesel fuel. And if you buy the stuff, it is half the price of diesel. I get mine free from restaurants.

POPSStarbucks Closing Stores Well, I for one am not surprised. Finally people have come to their senses. Don't get me wrong, I too love Starbucks but I've always wondered how they could be so successful by selling expensive coffee and very little else. I consider their brews to be a luxury which I can only occasionally afford to delve into. To me they don't sell a product or service which really competes with the already established businesses in the vicinity and when they open more than one store within a limited region, then they're only really competing with themselves. They're robbing business from Starbucks... not the McDonalds, Wendys or Dunkin Donuts next door. Now, if they can only sell a good cup of coffee at half the price and give free refills, then they've sold me. But hey, haven't I just described places which have been doing that for decades?

POPSLos Angeles McDonald's Introduces "Good Luck, Laughter And Prosperity"
The makeover elements are meant to help diners achieve happiness and fortune -- whether they realize it or not. That's because the restaurant was redesigned using the principles of feng shui, the ancient Chinese practice of arranging objects and numbers to promote health, harmony and prosperity. The concept is an unlikely fit with fast food. But the restaurant's owners say the designs are aimed at creating a soothing setting that will encourage diners to linger over their burgers and fries, and come back again. The makeover is part of the attempt by McDonald's Corp. in recent years to remodel hundreds of its restaurants to attract more patrons with unique decor and amenities that might entice them stay awhile. The only familiar signs at the McDonald's in this large Asian community are the golden arches, the drive-through and the menu. Leather seats, earth tones, bamboo plants and water trickling down glass panels have taken their place.

POPSLooting for Kosovo. BELGRADE (Reuters) - A video of two young women looting with gay abandon during rioting in the Serbian capital Belgrade was becoming a Balkan smash hit on the video-sharing Web site YouTube Friday. Police arrested some looters but public humiliation by YouTube may prove a far more painful punishment for the pair, whose spree Thursday night was also aired on local television stations and was being discussed across the Internet. A persistent amateur cameraman followed the women as they loaded up with chocolates at a corner shop, came out giggling, then went after designer bags, shoes and clothes at Belgrade's swankiest stores in its vandalized main shopping street.
