POPSWhere mathematic and art meet - Fractal art ..inspirational "A fractal is generally “a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole,” a property called self-similarity. The term was coined by Benoît Mandelbrot in 1975 and was derived from the Latin fractus meaning “broken” or “fractured.” -Wikipedia

POPSHow a simple mathematic formula is starting to explain the bizarre prevalence of altruism in society This new mathematic model for society’s evolution is particularly interesting because not only it reveals a logic behind the large numbers of cooperators that we know exist in all human societies, but also it gives us a glimpse of the principles that can help “pushing” them into a better, fairer, path. Evolutionary game theory is a mathematical approach used to study (and predict) the evolution of social interactions, in which the study of conflict and decision-making is treated – like its name indicates – as a game.

POPSFriedman: An Eloquent Expression of the Future Though it has been criticized because of its ties to general relativity, this equation strikes me as highly poetic. Friedman expresses in mathematic formula this reality, that our fate is a balance of two forces: the inertia pulling us apart, and the critical mass and attractive forces pulling us together. If we slip apart, there is the slow and lonely Cold Death, but if attraction prevails we are trapped in the stifling and claustrophobic Big Crunch. Whatever the scientific validity of it, this equation expresses a fundamental truth I see mirrored in my own life...
