POPS"My First-Hand Experience with Gov't Spies" America's new government, including the states, in action: Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act and the ACLU, we now know that "Lucy" was only one part of a vast, insidious project. The Maryland State Police's Department of Homeland Security devoted near 300 hours and thousands of taxpayer dollars from 2005 and 2006 to harassing people whose only crime was dissenting on the question of the war in Iraq and Maryland's use of death row.

POPSCommercial Bankruptcies Rise Sharply Most of the bankrupt & closed businesses are among the 23 million small businesses. That demonstrates how the Bush economic plan was geared only to the very elite & wealthy sliver of the corporate economy . That accords with other statistics indicating it has only been the ultra wealthy that have have done well during the Bush economy.

POPSSpying On America- Police Survailance 60ties Style Not since Richard Nixon and the Anti War Movement were Americans spied on like this. Actually, it has gotten more sophisticated, widespread and more incriminating for the current government. Decent and critical opinions, have once more become synonymous with Anti-Patriotism, drugs and now: Terrorism. This must be the revenge for the sixties from those who were stopped then and now are lashing out with a vengeance.

POPSNot All Democrats Want To Ride Obama's Coattails historically Republican House seat, "hasn't had time to be concerned with presidential politics" and won't be going to the Democratic convention, his spokesman said. But there may be more than busy schedules involved in some Democrats' reluctance to be associated with Sen. Obama. eing an Obama cheerleader may not be an asset," Mr. Gonzales said. In Georgia, Democrat Jim Marshall represents a solidly Republican rural district and typically neither endorses his party's candidate nor attends its conventions. Sen. Obama's coattails could be helpful to challenger Jim Himes in the Democratic-leaning Greenwich, Conn., district represented by Christopher Shays, a Republican. Political oddsmakers call the race a toss-up. Among the most vulnerable are 26 freshman Democrats and one freshman Republican. A few of those Democrats facing tough races already have signaled their ambivalence toward Sen. Obama, the Democratic candidate.

POPSPentagon to EPA: You and What Army? Refuse to clean up If it were a private polluter and not the Pentagon, the EPA would most likely go to court to force compliance, but an executive branch policy prevents federal agencies from suing one another. Other agencies, including NASA and the Department of Energy, have complied with the EPA’s Superfund cleanup orders without protest. This is the second time in a week that it’s been revealed that the EPA’s authority has been ignored by others in the government. The New York Times reported last Wednesday that, when the EPA sent an e-mail to the White House concluding that greenhouse gasses can be regulated by the Clean Air Act, the White House simply refused to open it, successfully getting the EPA to backtrack.
